Factions: Sick of them
evilcat replied to AlphaShard's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
Water dragon is the best ally. Go to Ukaizo with just your crew and buffed ship. Tell Eothas to just destroy the world. That will fix factions problem forever! -
RANDOM VIDEO GAME NEWS - VISUAL NOVELS ALLOWED
evilcat replied to Blarghagh's topic in Computer and Console
There is like free game on gog.com Ziggurat or something. They give away too much it is getting out of hands. -
Every company which can run conference without saying "loot boxes" so many loot boxes, is a winner. Overall most devs brought what expected. Even EA was went with general dark side stuff "We give C&C for new generation as mobile game" Which is exacly what one could expect.

I dont want smarter AI. I think it would be waste of resources, and nobody will really spot the difference. Too much complexity, and asymetry. AI does legal moves. Do not loop on pathway. Brute difficulty (HP 200%) works just fine. Maybe OE could somehow access player AI scripts. "Drop fireball upon bunch of enemies" is nto AlphaGo brainchild, but it works well enought. Some enemies could have Assasin script, like jumping to our casters and doing bad things to them. Some enemies could be stupid on purpose, or be very specific in their choices. Like boars just run in charge. Or some wizards really liking cold spells.

Update #49 - Patch 1.1
evilcat replied to Mikey Dowling's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire Announcements & News
You should think about some buffs, or something cool. It is not very inspiring to play if just bunch of stuff nerfed, some deserved, some not. I want to read "We did Priest Great Again, check out the new spells" or something. -
I think that they should implement more radical level scaling as game progress. Easier Port Maje is not big deal. Player has no gear, no abillities, no synergy yet. First island could be easy. Challenge is for late game. But with levels player gain: Legendary Gear, Build comes together, Party synergy, consumables Maybe every 4 levels enemies should get bonus level. Or each enemy level should grant a bit more health, acc, defense than normally.

Extra effort to nerf multiclass would be a waste of resources. What can be done, quick: 30 worthy upgrades +extras per class. You can go single, spend your 28 points and it will be good. Need some abillity upgrade variant, or abillities which you can take instead cripping strike, but overall you dont end "I took everything good, and still have 10 points" The Cake, some very good (not OP) abillities at tier VIII and IX. Like Zeal on Kill, or Stun for Fun, Shake it Off, NotBroken Will, Inspiring Presence. Rogue Berzerker will be glassier cannon. And Wizard/Fighter is just different archetype. But it is more about feelings that we got something, and it is unique.

M$ is probably XBONE & Windows PC, i dont mind. It was mostly about games, not netflix, sports and weird services. Good for me. Some games look promising for someone.

Life is Strange game without familly issues... not sure what to feel. But the feels will come.

This is topic devoted to our most pious party members. More on balance, mechanic side. So can complain, praise, curse and laud about various class mechanic and implementacion. Can relete to other classes, or POE1 priest, or items as comparison. It is less about lore, story. And definetly not about general game design like food, encounter, rest and difficulty. General quality feedback. You know the drill. *** To begin: General: Most frustrating is that when i level up there is not many things i can dump my level points on. There is no quality passives avaiable, there are some neutral, but only at higher levels. Spell selection is limited in comparison to Wizards. The whole class is useful. It is more focused on buffing and support. But it is missing something. maybe ways to spemd levelpoits, or extra power at top tiers. Tier 5 is letdown. Also VIII and IX are not that great. (there are 1 or 2 good spells) As other casters, at low levels there is very few spell casts, however we can use rods or abelasters almost as good as fighters. As level progress could focus on casting even more, spells pile out, this is better Chanter/Cipher. Mechanic to unleash all our spell slots +empowerment refil is strong. But we have no infinite potencial (may matter at higher difficulty) But also mechanic, that you could know 1 spell per tier, and just cast it over and over. Level points overflow. Xoti Factor: Xoti cant Priest/Chanter or Priest/Paladin. Poor Xoti. Players want buff bot support, but Monk/Priest more selffighter. And Priests are less selfbuffers than Wizards. Or Wael Monk would work better. Multiclassing Priest is good class to Multiclass, since we dont have talents to spend levelpoints on anyway. And we get our 2 cast and 1 free spell no matter what. Multiclass with Priest/Chanter/Paladin/Lifegiver could result in some great support character if you want heals & buffs. Loss of PL is less impactfull. Multiclass with Paladin or Fighter could give tank, who also supports party. Wael/Evoker(Transmuter) Nature Godlike could be interesting spam caster. But hard to tell if it is better than just Wizard. Class perk 9 free spells is as good as Druid, 5 variants is nice 9 fixed spells is less than 18 (i suppose), and abilitty to change during combat is much better Holy Radiance is nice tier 3 spell equivalent, Good at CL1 to shake early combats, transparent at CL20. Subclasses They generally doesnt matter. They dont have drawbacks which is nice. There is interaction with paladins, but it is Priest/Paladin perk Wael spell list is most out of book, also heavy focused on personal defense. Eothas has no unique spells, but are generally good for MC. There is not much to talk about, which is disappointing. Passives What? There is no passives. Some higher level neutrals. And of course empowerment passives and UMT. Items There is like less Priest related items, less +1PL for priest. And no Grimoire of Vapourous Priesthood. Spells Priest is not king of the heal. Not all tiers deserve the healing spell, but we can watch allies die, and resurent them afterward ( i like that style) Damaging spells are very limited, mostly fire based, not much choice in AOE vs single, or pick element at each tier. Inspiration spells dont stack on same stat, So low level spell is overshadowed by higher level. Tier V spells are very disappointing, since Searing Seal is low dmg, and rest is very situacional. Tier IV is very good, unfortunetly we can cast max 3 times from it. There is just few spells in general. If there is just 5 per tier there is higher risk that none is worthy. Spells Ratings work in progress Wishes and Prayers at levels 1-4 passive +1 cast on that level at tier VIII passive "can use empower twice per encounter" Buff tier V spells or add some new. Like more damage to Searing Seal or Heal when Berath Door ends. Single target buffs could be tier III, so you spend a spell, but you really got something awesome. Spells VIII and IX should have extra power, spell like "Heal all allies to max health and resurect fallen" is not too much for IX. passive related to favorite god stick, even if it is just legendary stick not summoned passive upgrading Holy Radiance to something more rad, and related to god other passives related to god or not, like berath immunity to diseases, or skaen anti domination front, Magran immunity to fire (Dragons dont burn, oops wrong universe) all casters passives +15% damage with choosen element, or physical when abilllities CL1 Toughness, so we can take early on something which does not sucks CL1 Deep Pockets (or Robes), so we can stack holy scrolls when we run out of normal spells, also drugs to get that divine connection. Holy Granades for Magran priests. Heal spells at each tier More Cool spells for the indifference of Rymgard's. Also Frost penetration. More long duration, quickcast, single target buffs. So we can self buff and rush to combat with our god favorite weapon. Minor Avatar is a bit late. Holy Radiance passive giving +1 use. (so 2 per combat) Maybe give Priest a theme of physical damage spells, or less damage but more debuffs. So it will be different style from Wizard/Druid. General spell and PL balance, when high tier spells are powerful, and have that dragon class impact, but it dont gets mad with PL stacking from other sources. Maybe balance everything around PL0, and just assume that some spells will start with +9PL. So it is harder to double planned damage. Lower by 1 CL, 8th and 9th PL you get as single class, so sooner you will get MAXIMUM POWEH! Class Perk: You could convert any tier spell into generic spell based on your deity. Like heal. It is always small aoe heal but with higher numbers depending on tier burned. Could be heal. or fire, or corrodowive over time, or blind raw damage, or dazed confusion. Allow Xoti to Priest/Chanter.

Anything with Wizard/Paladin/Chanter. Wizard with minimal investment has pleanty of fancy spells, you can buff defenses, or use missile spells, or some center on me spells. Every other class is better when you can just drop fireball during combat. Paladin: you are classic warrior, but can quickheal, have better defenses, can smash really hard. Also you buff whole party with your awesomeness. You are literally Beacon of Hope. It is just generally good foundation for anything. Chanter, do your things, but sometimes paralyze enemies, or take their armour, or summon dragon, everything is more fun with dragons, and heal yourself by hurting others, life is good. You asked for fun, not power. Pure wizard has more blast, chanter is so supporting, and paladin spread thin on many things. If you want kill things Nalpazca Rogue Berzerker is probably better.

Watcher: Focus on Diplo and Insight at least to level 10. Bluff and Intimidate also good. TrapMonkey: to 15, however could have two trapmonkeys and then can be lower by 1-2 points. Everyone: Athletics 3, for skill checks and healing Pure Caster: Arcana 15 to scroll if run out of spells Other Pure caster: Explosives Each companion: passive skills to 7, two skills for each companion, so i have all covered, then increase even way. Overall: 7, 11, 16 is interesting values to have as party bonus.

Some high level spells are very good. Including Witting Wind. I think there is a problem with spell level and power level stacking. For witting wind it is 8, and if we add 10 that would be double the fun. But we can make every spell base level 0, and just assume that witting wind will have generally +8PL and balance as such. ANd even the crazziest of stacking will give only 2/3 effect. That could help. But nerfing Wildstrike and Spirit Weapons... that is important issue too.

I am looking forward most towards more than 3 class combo, i like Eder, but want to experiment with no swashbucker. Xoti Priest/Chanter or Priest/KindWayferer would be great addition to the party Adding more tickbox and creating progress table for more than 3 options it is some work, but not the hard one Yes there are mods for that, but if many ppl are using same mod for same purpose, maybe it is time to put it into the game. Some companions need label text "this is class we really recommend for new players" so we can ignore it or "have you heard that multiclassing is not recommended for new players?" stay informed.

They could. Fessina sidekick could be wizard generalist for time being. More useful. For time being subclass penalty could be -PL +20% recovery for other 4 schools. Could have better grimoires, like dedicated to one subclass, or specific elements (or no elements but raw and physical damage). Summoned weapons are definetly not OP, well done, now what? New spells: Shadow-Magic, like fireball but targeting will since it is all phantom pain. Shadow Tentacles with high Penetration. New spells: more summons minions, summon Nemok, summon Modwyr thirsty for blood New Spells: enchant ally with awesome weapon and armour Evoker: +Many good spells +some top tier spells + benefit from PL + Still access to ilusion, enchantment, both dont care about recovery + perk useful for what we want Transmuter + some good spells, but less +- top spells less impressive + still access to enchantment, but no ilussion - fearsome brute, not fearsome, lose legendary weapon, armour, gear, casting, but gain gimped summoned weapon. COnjurer + some good spells - familiar not so useful - how many summon weapon we need? - weapon master without ilussion - how many conjure summon we need Ilussionist - some nice spells, but dont care about PL - no top tier spells + perk is nice - no conjure nor enchant so no battle mage route Enchanter - very situacional and specific perk - no illusion, so battle mage worse - no top dog spells - generally less good spells Generalist + Good selection of spells + Some top tier spells + still access to ilussion and enchantiing and conjure weapon and evocation + no gimped perk + full benefit from all books

Serafen's "Gift"
evilcat replied to Suen's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
The hat is great, strong reason to not Godlike if you are 2w style -
Priest is interesting example, since it is not the best class. 1. Holy Radiance is not that strong, and does not change with deity. 2. Selection of spells is smaller than wizard. You dont have too many spells to choose from. 3. Some spells are not that great. And whole tiers (like 5th) are questionable. 4. You dont have passives to spend levelpoints. So when MC you just dump your level points on something useful. 5. Heals&Buffs is good for MC, since you dont care for powerlevel. Paladin/Chanter/Lifegiver +/Priest is not bad as support. In comparison Wizards have 18 free spells, many more deity lists, and could swap them mid combat. Also suffer from not enought passives. But could dump levelpoints on: secondary damage type, life draining spell, single target, CC option, personal defense. Priests dont really have so many situacional spells to choose from. It could be better to buff first individual classes as single too each other, and then look at MC. Priest probably deserve own topic with deep and real feedback. What could be done: Make the Cake, at tier VIII and IX make abillities/passives which are good and have capstone vibe. Maybe MC will still be better, but single class will get something good and desired. some more passives could be neutral from level 1, could kick toughness here More neutral passives so you can dump redutant levelpoints on something useful Generally give each class 30 worthy level points, which work well together. So you can go single, and dont feel you have so many spare level points. buff tier 5 priest spells for martial classes with pool (Rogue, Paladin and such) move more active abilities at tier 1, so we could choose else than cripping strike. But move upgrades more back. For martial classes add, move "Zeal on Kill" passive to tier VIII Buff abillities which sucks (telemetry shows which one) Do not random nerf what is not broken. (That spirit weapon nerf...) Tier VIII passive "can use empowerment twice in combat" is not bad Priest, Wizard, Druid could have line of passives at tier 1-4 "+1 cast on that tier". All classes having deep pockets from tier 1, dont be classist, wizards have deep pockets to. Even if you run out of resource you can always drop the bomb or scroll it down. MC in general 70% playe single anyway, so MC power is secret If you take weaker class and MC with stronger, the result should be stronger. You can play Helwaker/Wizard, or Helwaker, or just Wizard any combination is good, but hard to tell it is totally better. Single class gets cool stuff sooner, or have enought good class abillities so you dont have spare levelpoints anyway having build coming together at level 20 is a bit late Some classes have inner mechanic which favours MC somehow, mostly Ciphers and Chanter, and thinking too hard to "fix it" will end bad. So just make sure that tiers VIII and IX have the cake, and move on. Skald, Shifter, SoulBlade looks like something good to multiclass by design. it is hard to nerf specific MC without making single class at least more annoying. And it is waste to first introduce MC to then nerf it out, when minority uses it anyway.

Witcher 3 Vampire Bloodlines Mass Effect 2 Not sure if they are really BEST, but i had a fun with them. And there is something in mixing crpg with action, it alterns the game tempo.

Someone actually plays Sorcerer? Sounds like a ... weird build. I wanted to but in the end couldn't handle druids cause of all the slow ass casting. Some people play it, a few. It is possible. Nature Godlike. Have a bit more dex than normally. Use Infuse Vital Essence and Fleet Foot. Spam a lot. Try to avoid 4.5s cast if possible. It is blast to play. But you lose 3PL and 2 tiers from wizard. So it is more fun than power. Also Druid tier 7 is disappointment. Lifegiver/Priest is interesting aproach to healing/buffing. A little sad that Fessina is Conjurer, since with general wiz her class combo would be very interesting.
