  1. I don't think it's a problem that everything including health is per-encounter, I think the problem comes from trying to have their cake and eat it too by still including permadeath. Just get rid of permadeath and make every battle difficult enough to potentially result in a party wipe
  2. the person who wrote the first games story left the company, which probably had a bigger impact
  3. By Obsidian standards it's not particularly buggy, but then I haven't replayed the early stages so I don't know if the stuff about big conpanion conversations and romances happening too early, or some quest triggers not working in places like Fort Deadlight, is any better
  4. I will say, for all that the game is trying to be a crowd pleaser I at least respect the ways in which it's clearly its own thing. People complain about the ending, but it's done the way it is for reasons other than trying to make everyone happy- almost, dare I say, a creative vision. It would have been easy for them to do a main quest with a big satisfying ending where you beat the bad guy and then spend the post-game sailing around in your boat exploring the rest of the world, and a lot more people would have preferred that
  5. The writing is definitely a step down. It's trying much too hard to be Bioware, and I don't mean sjw stuff which I don't particularly care about, I mean everyone being a wisecracking **** head. You could see them going this way in the white March, so it's not like it's a surprise. The DLC is better written so far at least, and the sense of humour is a lot more my speed
  6. Basically you didn't have anything attaching your lootlist to that store. Check the tutorial here for more info on how to add items to a store: https://forums.obsidian.net/topic/105275-tutorial-adding-items-to-a-store-v210/ I knocked up a quick script and it worked in my game- it checks that Marihi's Metalworks Store is in the scene, if it is then it adds your lootlist to the store. I also moved the "n_devil_quest_state" check from your lootlist to the scripthook; I couldn't figure out the right number for the quest state so I set it to 2 (devil spared harmke) but then below that put "Not": true instead of "Not": false and that seemed to do the trick. Anyway, I've attached the file, give it a shot! Edit: whoops, took a couple of tries to attach DoC Breastplate On Killing Harmke_V2.1.zip
  7. In characters.gamedatebundle look for companion_[insert name here], propid should be at the bottom of their entry. Looks like for Maia: "PropsIDs": ["7c11791e-6670-4cc5-9b44-fb6ddb347d6c"] And Tekehu: "PropsIDs": ["db089155-a085-4597-ac9b-680cf68ef03b"]
  8. I don't know, it also seems counterintuitive that you'd want the game to be more challenging but also easier
  9. Elmshore is a cool one. I also like the "Twin Elms" track which plays at Vilario's Rest in this game. That may disqualify it but I think the peaceful tone which makes it a good fit for the intro area also makes it good as a "night-time" track
  10. Encampment is cool, I think it's just burned into people's brains from playing the starting area of Pillars 1 a hundred times
  11. You can make your own party members at any time so what does it matter that you can't change Eder's stats or starting talents
  12. You get weapon proficiencies every few levels and all they do is give you a modal ability you might not even ever use
  13. This is so thorough! The section on ths hunts is a massive help, thank you
  14. It's one of the optional fights, you need to unlock the task The Slaying Face's Hunt for the Titan's Heart
  15. I double click all the time, and a quick look at my current party shows everyone still has their racials except Mirke. So it's an inconsistent bug at least. Still, worth double checking the rest of my companions...
  16. Bringing this thread back because with 3.0 out we're approaching the end of the window where they'll be adding new features to the game. Now is the time to make your voices heard! Below are obviously the most important things they should implement if they can:
  17. Wonder what changed for 3.0.20. Clearly nothing worth mentioning, just curious
  18. It is hidden, I forget exactly where I found it now but it's definitely in there. Keep skulking around to the northeast
  19. LAXF is the megaboss and should be included in the patch. Maybe the patch didn't install right?
  20. Good rule. Like mine where I don't really care about people's whining that go all out ad hominem instead of trying to argue my points. ad ho·mi·nem ˌad ˈhämənəm/Submit adverb & adjective 1. (of an argument or reaction) directed against a person rather than the position they are maintaining. "vicious ad hominem attacks" For example, when something you want isn't in a game and you say it's because the people who make the game are lazy and greedy.
  21. A good rule of thumb is, if someone is accusing game developers of being lazy, then you can assume their opinion is just not worth listening to without first needing them to explain why the DLC they haven't played and don't intend to "isn't content"
  22. Doesn't seem to be a sidekick for this one either. I wonder if Ryona's going to be in the next one, or if she's just cut content from BOW. The Beyond would have been a pretty natural place for her to turn up compared to the combat arena or the wizards' tower or whatever the third one will be
  23. In that case it'd make more sense to save them for last
