  1. So what would specifically be easy to implement is isolating all the narration files, reclassifying them as something other than voice acting so they're not affected by the voice acting slider, and putting in a separate slider to affect only those files. The guys who can't figure out how to open a mod folder and delete one file from it think this would be a piece of cake.
  2. So easy to implement that it has in fact already been implemented
  3. I figured someone would mention the mod. It hasn't been updated, and I'm reluctant to use a mod that hasn't been kept up to date, and risk losing tens of hours of playtime to an unfixable bug caused by a mod. all it does is replace some sound files, it's not going to break your game any more than adding some portraits would
  4. Having a Vailian PC voice would be awesome, I agree. The only real other accent is English for Aedyran, and I guess Scottish for old Aedyran. Having a Scottish voice option would be neat too
  5. I just use the mod. Can you not turn off voice acting or lower the volume to 0 in the menu?
  6. What if someone wants to have Skaen's fog of war and play on normal? Or start with 5.000 to recruit a custom party immediately when playing on PotD with challenges? A solo character with +2 on each stat would still have a bigger challenge than a full party, so mixing all the options wouldn't necessarily make the game easier. Making Deadfire as interesting as possible even to the (majority of the) players that don't play on PotD would increase replay value and benefit everyone. I don't know how many more players would come or how many more hours people would play, but it certainly wouldn't reduce those numbers. Edit: They can keep the achievements for PotD/no Berath's Blessings, so anyone who care about that can be happy too. sure, I'd prefer to have the challenges be available with all difficulties, I just don't think not having them available with all difficulties is specifically a bad thing
  7. What rewards? More money, higher stats, unique items for sale at the start of the game? If you want to make things easier why are you playing challenge modes?
  8. Base game Deadfire did XP just fine, the issue is they didn't think about how it could be expanded even though they knew they'd be doing DLCs
  9. Having wizards shooting fireballs and druids summoning storms and chanters summoning dragons and ciphers picking off your crew with arquebuses and using the focus to paralyse you and stop you giving orders for 5 turns would be cool, but would also add a ton of stuff you'd have to have on your mind at all times- I'd better make sure to take all my casters out with me so they all get plenty of XP, have to spec fire damage on everyone because the ships are all made of wood but also have to spec ice to counter incoming fire damage... In the setting, most spells seem to have a very limited range. What's a fireball, 10 metres? Ships rarely get that close unless they're closing to board
  10. That's a steam workshop thing as far as I know
  11. If they just raised the level cap most people would stop complaining, even without adding additional power levels and abilities. A level cap of 30 would probably cover the game, all 3 DLCs, and the megabosses when they turn up. Or whichever class has the fewest abilities to choose from, make the level cap the amount of levels it would take for that class to be able to get everything
  12. I like Tekehu because it fits well with his character, and I enjoy Aloth getting stuffy about it. The rest of them, well, they come on to you quickly but you turn them down and never hear from them again. Having them outright try to leap on you instead of making suggestive comments and having the romance be something the player initiates was frankly a rookie mistake, and hopefully if there are romances in future games they'll learn from it
  13. There's basically no info about DLC3 yet, though probably there'll be more once 2 is out. I wonder if by "dungeon crawl" they mean there'll be a bunch of interior dungeon environments, or maybe one big meaty dungeon like Durgan's Battery. I hope for a bunch of big meaty dungeons, but I know they're not made of time and money!
  14. I'm curious to see what would happen if armor recovery penalty got below 0 into negative number. Would it make your recovery faster than if you weren't wearing armor? Would it just stop at 0? Is there a way to make this happen in game(eg with abilities or talents) or would I need to cheat to test it?
  15. I only used it once, but if you have the Key Of Unlocked Possibilities equipped it LOOKS like Living Illusions causes all your clones to spawn with random weapons
  16. It's harder to keep it in your pants when your day-to-day life consists largely of sailing with nothing much going on
  17. The first game had a list of all effects on your character sheet, same as this one. There was never a full list of every stat and skill and how it was affected by your equipment or abilities
  18. Area of effect depends on the ability you're using. The ability's information page will show you that ability's total AOE/damage/duration etc and what is affecting it
  19. The sidekicks seem more interesting specifically because they aren't explored. Fassina is an apprentice wizard who doesn't like it and is in a bad mood. Rekke is an arsonist who got deported and is good with languages. Ydwin is a Dracula gag. There is nothing sthat makes these character concepts intrinsically more interesting than, say, a godlike who loathes the gods for making her the way she is and exploited a loophole in her country's laws to join an all-male paladin order, or an ethnic Huana who works for Rauatai as an assassin, or a fanatical priest on a mission to collect souls
  20. You might have to live with the endgame fight not triggering, it's been six weeks and no fix in sight
  21. Honestly, the companion quests should have just been them finding out the truth about the gods and how they deal with it. Surely Xoti's religious mission would be affected when she finds out she's doing it for a fraud? Tekehu is already struggling with the idea of being Ngati's chosen, what will he do when he finds out Ngati is a damn animat? Then you get the odd line that suggests they already know... like Ydwin wonders if the White Void predates Rymrgand in Beast Of Winter. Does everyone know? Did Eder and Pallegina tell them offscreen?
  22. The general idea of wilder seems to be that they're all just fundamentally incompatible with being "kith" in whatever way. Xaurips and lagufaeth in particular clearly occupy a space between ape and human on the intelligence scale and wouldn't be able to function in anything we'd consider a society, imps are like dogs that can talk, and I imagine ogres' sheer fearsome size and vithracks' creepy mind powers would make people extremely unfriendly to them. Wilder were used quite well to show colonialism and racism transcending species or nationality, with the Huana thinking nothing of steamrolling over lagufaeth just like the Rauataians and Vailians are doing to them. And being able to recruit some as crew members serves to highlight that point, with wilder serving alongside kith showing that boundaries between races, and even species, can be blurred
  23. The level cap is only 20, hirelings will 100% catch up unless you hire them right before the endgame. And since right now you can't fight the final boss, there's no need for them to be max level at endgame.
  24. What I do is copy an existing gamedatabundle file, and then rename the copy and blank out all the text. You'll need a text editor to edit the contents, I recommend notepad++. I'm sure there's a thread around here where they talk about extensions to make the code easier to understand and stuff, I forget what the one I use is called
