Second chance activates when you get knocked down first, so you get up again. Unbroken can only be activated when you're knocked down. It's an activated effect, so I don't see why second chance would cancel it out. But I never got knocked down twice. I actually didn't even finish the game because I stupidly stepped on a trap near the end and lost half my party. Played on Trial of Iron so it was kinda heart breaking edit: oh and about that hammer. I didn't know that. It was still fun to see her swing her hammer about though. But you should totally go for Ravenwing then, and appropriate focus. Upgrade it at level 8 so you won't lose too much damage bonus.

I've played a 19/8/19/5/8/19 Human fighter. It's pretty good, but will be totally worthless in 2.0 because of the 5 perception It was my only tank, in fact, everything else was a glass cannon. Played it on PotD, with a full custom party though. As I do always. Leveled it something like this: 1: Knockdown 2: Weapon & Shield (Sura's Supper Plate ftw) 3: Defender 4: Wary Defender 5: Confident Aim 6: Weapon Focus: Soldier (for that War Hammer with +1 engagement) 7: Armored Grace 8: Bull's Will 9: Weapon Mastery 10: Bear's Fortitude 11: Unbroken 12: this is where I basically went whatever, it doesn't matter much. Gear is vital though, it allows you to skip some talents... and Eder's Armor is just absolutely monstrous Sain't War Armor (acquired from Edér) Ring of Deflection Ring of Protection Cloack of the Tireless Defender Sura's Supper Plate. That war hammer with +1 engagement All can be acquired easily. It's basically an unstoppable, constantly hitting death machine... that attacks back when attacked. High saves, high attack speed, high damage. edit: just realized you could choose to use some other armor at level 11, when you acquire Unbroken. Though you can totally get knocked down twice if you keep it on

I always make pairs of characters, who come from the same area, are the same species (most of the time) and, if in any way possible, have 'couples names' (like Ereshkigal and Nergal, Sumerian Gods who got married or something) Then you get parties like this: But that's as far as I go. My 'rules' are pretty much pure RP headcanon. Which reminds me.. I have 12 days to finish that run before that party becomes completely useless because of a lack of perception

I played a Barbarian with 3 con on PotD and he was beastly. You WANT that endurance to drop below 50% for the Blooded ability, pick Nature Godlike or Human for extra glory. Give him Eder's Armor or a Ring of Wonder to abuse his below 50% endurance bonuses even more. Max Might, Dex and Int, dual wield. And One Stands Alone... it was extremely good when it was still bugged, but it's still good now. On higher levels, when your Barbarian gets knocked down and you have Vengeful Defeat, you'll jump of joy as you'll watch everything in a large radius take massive damage... and then he gets up again cause he has that armor or that ring to do it again. It was easily the most fun character I played. I regret not making him the main character. I picked these abilities: 1: Frenzy 3: Blooded 5: One Stands Alone 7: Threatening Presence 9: Vengeful Defeat 11: Heart of Fury I don't think I've ever played a character in an an RPG that I really wanted to get hit so badly. Except the Jew class in South Park

Current fighter, top damage dealer in the party so far. Other classes are Rogue, Ranger, Wizard, Druid and Priest (which should say something) Only just acquired Sura's Supper Plate here, so the damage output is going to be even higher from here on. Though I kinda bought BG1&2 enhanced edition so I'm probably not gonna finish. Anyway, PotD, expert mode, trial of iron fighter, and the 2nd highest damage outputter for comparison. Base stats: 19/8/18/6/8/19 Using Saint's War Armor btw, and will to the end, so the 8 con doesn't really matter.

Ditch the Chanter, use both Wizard and Druid. Ditch the Rogue, use Paladin, Barbarian or Monk. Ditch the Fighter, use Paladin, Barbarian or Monk. Don't double Paladin, Barbarian or Monk though, that's a waste. Hell while I'm at it... perfect party, imo: Paladin Monk/Barbarian Priest Druid Wizard Wizard/Cipher/Druid

Nature Godlike Mig: 18 Con: 3 Dex: 19 Per: 3 Int: 20 (Old Vailla) Res: 15 1: Whatever you want. You most likely will not be using it later in the game. On the Watcher I'd always go for Frenzy though, the Barbaric Yell or whatever it's called is almost the same as that Watcher ability you get after you reach Defiance Bay 2: Weapon Focus 3: Blooded 4: Hold the Line 5: One Stands Alone 6: Two Weapon Style 7: Threatening Presence 8: Accurate Carnage 9: Vengeful Defeat 10: Barbaric Blow 11: Heart of Fury 12: whatever, doesn't really matter Expect to be knocked down, it's part of the build. Use a second chance item (either Edér's armor or the Ring of Wonder from Defiance Bay) This build was easily the highest damage dealer in the party, among which a Ranger, a Cipher and a Wizard. Though, to be honest, a short time of that run the old version of One Stands Alone was still at work, but even after the patch the other partymembers never caught up. In fact, the difference increased if I recall correctly. edit: Was on PotD btw, so I see absolutely zero reason to go for a higher constitution on Hard mode.

I take exception to "all the backers". I didn't say anything on that issue. (Or most others, to be honest.) OTOH, special loot (anyone has a similarly cool name for that?) always feels like the game master / developers cheating. "In lieu of doing AI to make things harder, we just give our Xaurips spears+3. No, you can't loot them." Or: "We made this very cool bad guy who wears really nice armour. No, we didn't make it wearable, and its armour class travels at the speed of plot. Also, it won't turn up as loot, of course." It's annoying both ways. If you're going to make a big deal out of this... why not not make a big deal about, I dunno, all armors being available to all species? Aumaua armors should be too big for everyone, Dwarf and Orlan too small for everyone and probably not even interchangeable between the species, and so on and so forth. In the end we're playing a game and too much 'realism' will destroy it.
