  1. Yeah, whatever. You only need like 5 spells in DA:O, all the others are just filler content in that regard. Glyph of Repulsion + Glyph of Paralysis Spell Might + Tempest + Blizzard. The only difficulty is in getting high enough level to get all those spells. And don't give me that nonsense 'well then just don't do that'. If I refuse to take a left turn in Pacman the game becomes impossibly difficult too. Or if I wear blindfolds, everything is difficult. Purposely gimping myself should not be the way to enjoy the game or have a difficult experience. I only see that the first parts of a series get the highest ratings. After that, gamers get all these delusions in their head about how the next game should be, and then they get disappointed it isn't so. And 100 hours to find out how the mechanics in DA:O work? Are you kidding me? After you get Morrigan, it becomes painfully obvious that, as usual in Bioware games, mages are beasts.
  2. I gotta chime in here. Cause really, f-bombs are awful, but the fact you kill dozens of other human(oids) in the game is perfectly ok? This bugs me in many other games as well. Take Mass Effect 3: you kill stuff by the boatloads, on screen head explosions included. But for some obscure reason Samantha wears a bra in the shower. I'll tell you guys and gals something: teens have sex, teens swear. But the average teen will never, not even in adulthood, kill someone, or even something aside from the occasional insect. The message here is completely off. If anything in games should be censored to protect your kids, it's the killing, not the sex and the swearing.
  3. Pick your battles. It's not like a vital part of the game was removed. We're talking about something most of us would never have even seen were it not for the controversy. Now if 'they' had attacked the game because Watchers are invading people's privacy and demanding change, then we'd have something to get upset about. But this? Not worth your time to get upset over, just like the guy who made poem didn't get upset about changing it.
  4. DA:O's combat was a joke. Honestly, I cannot believe people value that part of the game so highly. I dunno about DA2, never played it, but it cannot possibly be worse than DA:O. Once you got a hang of the mechanics, it was a snoozefest. And you can beat the entire game, with the exception of a few battles, by just using 5 spells. On nightmare.
  5. In the game Offworld Trading Company (really cool game btw, not an RPG, just some economic simulator.. or something ), they had to purposely dumb down the AI for humans to even stand a chance. And for that reason, the hardest difficulty is called "AI test" or something, as you simply cannot beat the AI.
  6. Gamers are absolutely hilarious. Just take a stroll around these very forums. You'd think Pillars was, again, a giant cluster*BLEEP* of bad design choices. Gamers should learn that there's things they like, and things they don't like. But especially in the RPG scene, we've got a whole bunch of *bleeps* running around thinking they are better human beings for liking certain things in games. Again, just as the Bioware forums were an excellent example of this, these forums are just as much. If I were a developper, I'd ignore the hell out of all you guys. You can't be pleased. Oh and for the record: I love Pillars. I also love DA:I. I finished it 6 times, and I really, really doubt I'll finish Pillars that many times.
  7. Yeah the loading times are very odd, to say the least. I have a very new computer, with SSDs, a big ass videocard and a very fast CPU, yet I still find myself looking at loading screens a lot, where they should pretty much be instant.
  8. Because, obviously, PotD is the real deal. The rest is a training excersize for n00bs I really feel I need to use a sarcasm banner here. Sarcasm and internet don't mix well
  9. Good guys feel great for doing good. Bad guys feel great for getting stuff. Really like how they break the trend of 'do the right thing: YOU WIN'. That's not how things works.
  10. Get your figher talents/abilities that increase his/her engagement limit. This is key, especially on higher difficulties.
  11. I really don't care about hitting level cap well before the end. Look at it like this: the level cap's there to prevent you from steamrolling the final boss.
  12. Agreed, but also: Very much agreed. I'd like it very much if people stopped acting like *insert random game developer* murdered their family if something isn't to their liking.
  13. Difficulty? Cause I'm on PotD level 10, and they're whooping my ass. So many bees
  14. In D&D? Yes. In Pillars, Mass Effect, Dragon Age? No. (Though Elves and Humans would, technically, be the same species) At least, I'm not aware of any cross species mating being viable in any of those games, besides the aforementioned Humans and Elves in DA. (And Asari + everything, but that's asexual reproduction with DNA recombination, which is an absolutely brilliant reproductive strategy... but I digress) You are correct, but if you'd read the whole article, you'd know that even this informal usage would not be applicable to the species in Pillars. Now it seems like this stuff bothers me immensely, lol. It doesn't, it's just a gripe that really got strong during Mass Effect.
  15. Race is also a scientific term, and it's exactly why it bothers me. Race is a classification below species. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Race_%28biology%29
  16. Can anyone explain to me why games in general speak of race, while we're clearly dealing with species? Mass Effect, Dragon Age, Pillars and pretty much everything else I've ever played in my life.
  17. I can't believe all of you guys and gals getting so upset about such a trivial part of the game being removed. It's not like they changed the story, the gameplay or really anything significant at all. Hell, they even asked the guy/gal who made it, and he/she was like: 'Alright'. Also no idea why people keep insisting Obsidian lost their artistic integrity, or whatever kind of silly molds of integrity you've come up with in the last couple of days/weeks, as this was not something they made themselves. And, lastly, also not a clue why there was so much controversy over the limmerick to begin with. But getting so upset it is removed from the game is way, way more ridiculous if you ask me.
  18. My first run of the game (on PotD, I started one on hard but I found it waaaaay too easy for my liking... and I accidentally forced myself to ally with the Dozens >.>) is with the normal companions. But after that I will go all crazy with a custom min/max party.
  19. It feels very counterintuitive that it's based on mechanics. Perception seems so much more logical
