  1. I'd be all over graphic novelization (i.e., high quality comic book) of Eoran lore. Would absolutely love to see a series about Waidwen's epic journey from peasanthood to godhammer juice.
  2. It's pretty useful if you opted to play with no maims before death. Field Triage can be a life saver in desperate combat situations. Of course, the maim failsafe renders it virtually obsolete.
  3. Use the level 2 priest spell "consecrated ground" for efficient long term healing. Don't use "restore endurance" spells (i.e., wasteful flash heals) unless it's an emergency. "Watchful Presence" (priest spell tier 3) is a life saver if everyone is taking huge damage and they are in danger of getting knocked out. "Withdraw" (priest tier 1) is a superb bubble spell that will protect and heal its target, though it also stuns them for its duration.
  4. I miss Faerun. I would be super happy to go on a new crpg adventure in that world.
  5. Maybe the "reward" of hardcore questing should be bigger, badder, scariest boss fights. Want to rid the world of a godly level 20 dragon? Gotta work your ass off to unlock that fight, let alone gear up and level up to be prepared for it. It might also help to make the critical path shorter and more linear, saving the optional bonus quests for "end game" activities. Casual players could complete that major questline and retire, feeling satisfied that they had "beat the game." Hardcore players would still have a world full of challenging quests to tackle (quests balanced for endgame combat).
  6. I gave up "completionist style" reading when I met Maerwald. The split personality gimmick really put me off. After that I only bothered with the parts that I felt I wanted to learn more about. For example, I had no patience for that dork on top of the Heritage Hill tower...but I devoured everything I could find about the Saint's War, Waidwen and the Godhammer. Some of the writing is dead boring. Some of it is so exciting it gives me chills. You just have to look for the stuff that interests you.
  7. I've never touched mobile apps but the stronghold system reminds me (somewhat negatively) of WoW's garrison system. It could definitely benefit from some on-location interactivity. I remember in NWN2's castle how those dorky level 1 adventurers kept showing up to brag about their (seemingly mundane) quests...and if you egged them on and paid them long enough, they actually delivered something awesome (though I forget what now). I'd love to see that level of interactivity in the PoE stronghold.
  8. I like my ranger but that "bonded grief" debuff kills some of the fun. My stupid pet dies almost every battle.
  9. I've clock 147 hours and have not yet beat the game. Admittedly I've started over a few times.
  10. Personally I would love to see some kind of technology based class (using machines powered by imprisoned souls) to add some sci-fi to the environment. We already have muskets and blunderbusses, so the world is clearly headed in the direction of technological modernization.
  11. For the record, I would also pay for a voice pack. But if they went ahead and did this -- made a purchasable DLC of voiceovers -- it would be absolutely ridiculed as a cashin. People would expect it to be free (as a feature that should have come with the original purchase) and bitterly criticize it for costing extra. I doubt it will happen for free, and thus, I doubt it will happen at all.
  12. Great list, I support it 100%. In addition, I would love to see a random encounters system (like a gladiator arena or expanded bounty hunt) implemented, something that allows us IWD fans to continue toying with combat after all the quests are completed. Even if it was something "plain" like an ongoing unscripted war that you could slip in and out of, visiting battlefields for loot and reputation.
  13. So don't bother saying anything. He enjoyed the game as many of us did. Keep your bitterness to yourself.
  14. Yeah. That's the one thing I really hate...having control of my own characters taken away from me, and being helpless to restore it. Even the high level priest spell "prayer against treachery" seems weak or worthless against confusion/domination spells. Fighting my own men is not fun.
  15. I really hope they expand these stronghold defenses into something more dramatic and interesting. For example, -If the invaders are coming from the Endless Paths, give us a mission to intercept them...i.e., we have to descend into the dungeons to ambush the invaders before they reach the surface. -If the invaders are coming from outside the stronghold walls (an enemy army), have them stage a siege and let us participate in a full scale war. -Randomly award high value treasures, weapons, crafting materials. If I knew there was a chance at getting an adra dragon scale, I'd be very excited to manually resolve my stronghold defenses (as opposed to annoyed).
  16. FWIW, I'm playing through POTD now and it seems to provide some challenge (Act 1 atm). The inflated stats just make debuffs and buffs matter imo, vs hard where I used them just because. It still has the AI path-finding and engagement issues, of course. Take a look and see if the difficulty is right for you, at least until OE adjusts "Hard" mode. PotD is quite good up until about level 10. The fights are challenging (sometimes nerve wracking) but not unfair or punishing. Of course, I'm assuming you always have a tank and healer in your party.
  17. Wild orlan tanks. They get a bonus to all defenses every time they roll a will check. Not bad.
  18. Non lethal damage would be great for certain RP approaches to the game. I would welcome it. Speaking of alternate resolutions to combat, I'd welcome escape mechanics of some sort. I dislike being required to win every fight I get sucked into...sometimes retreating is the most intelligent (and plausible) behavior. In the old IE games for example, you could survive emergency situations by casting invisibility and running for dear life. Some people consider that cheesy, but I say it's plausible behavior...the only thing unrealistic about it was that enemies didn't use the same strategy (which they should have). Sorry to wander off topic. I voted yes for the option to subdue rather than kill enemies.
  19. If you don't mind losing achievements, you can enable PotD this way: -type "`" to open the console commands box. -clear the box (hitting enter does that) -type "iroll20s" to enable cheats. it will inform you that achievements are disabled -type "SwitchPOTD"
  20. I got impression that the writers purposely stifled their senses of humor. Like the story was intended to be a drama and they didn't want to risk trivializing it. It's a shame. Comic relief could have really breathed some extra life into the game. Remember how Saemon Havarian finally died? Sacrificing himself to pay for all the times he screwed you? That scene had a powerful emotional effect on me. Because Saemon was such a hilariously slimy backstabber up until that point. His character was a running joke...and the writer turned that into amazing drama.
  21. This was attempted in Fallout 3 by Bethesda at demands for harder enemies. It's ****ing awful. It can often lead to little to no options on how to approach the situation. Certain Super Mutants in the game could two shot you because of this, meaning that your approach was always to cower behind a wall as your companions handled it, or you absolutely positively needed to aim for their gun and shoot it out of their hands ASAP. I would not recommend it, cause it's more frustrating than challenging to see all your stats you've acquired not matter and then have every character forced to use the same strategy. Hmph. Some of my fondest memories of Fallout 3 are hunting down fel reavers with a fat man.
  22. I wish they'd just remove the 8-hired limit. Character creation is so much fun... I don't want to have to delete my beloved cast of characters to make more. If that's no possible, it would be great if I could at least reassign them to guard duty, so I can still see their faces wandering around the stronghold (even if I can't use them as companions anymore). I don't know why they impose that 8-man limit. You could create 1000 hired companions and it wouldn't unbalance the game, since you can only have 6 in your party at a given time.
  23. Same here. It would be very interesting to replay fights in real time and assess my performance.
