Confused about the post-mission "rewards"
Tigranes replied to EldestCosmonaut's topic in Alpha Protocol: General Discussion
Medical bills is sort of a 'funny' stat, chestersmurf is right. -
I wouldn't mind an expansion pack adding an extra hub, with extra G22 content.

I actually ran into this yesterday, after the game ran fine for a long long time. A simple reinstall fixed it, though.

No official word on it yet, but it's reasonably certain that they're thinking of it.

Menu inventory screen graphical issues
Tigranes replied to Elemental Alchemist's question in PC Support
If you haven't forced AA/AF, the next bet is texture corruption in the data, maybe? -
The point was that you don't reload and reload to get past one enemy the 'right way' or do one conversation the 'right way'. Are you meaning checkpoints are too far apart? Otherwise, it saves at every safehouse enter/exit, and you can do 'manual' saves at the last checkpoint to have multiple backups, so you should never be redoing, say, huge chunks.

For some perspective - AP is *nowhere* as bad as KOTOR2. There is no missing content or half-arsed endgame here, and the game itself is not as buggy as K2 either. If you generally can put up with some bugs, some troubleshooting, some clunkiness to get at a great game, get this, no question whatsoever, because it is awesome. If they frustrate you and you just want a smooth ride, maybe wait for a patch. Certainly, if you enjoyed, say, KOTOR2 and thought "it'd be great if it weren't so extraordinarily buggy", get AP.

You go to: http://www.alphaprotocol.com/deactivation/ and put in your key, and it lists your activations.

Odd, when I had that glitch once the helicopter was gone, but the gate was already broken down, too. Try shooting the gate with the rocket launchers... but I suspect you should just try reloading (restart game, reload checkpoint). If that doesn't work after a few tries, trying again from the safehouse... though, in this case, that's a long way.

Can't advance story...EMP charges are broken.
Tigranes replied to Fallen Ghost's topic in Alpha Protocol: General Discussion
Alright, let's assume that you, being thorough, went through every mission, and explored everything. But you never had a single point in sabotage. I don't get it - when I did the same in my Normal/Recruit playthrough with zero points in sabotage I saw at least ten bypass minigames with 10 nodes. :/ (Which I could do, by the way, they're not 'impossible', which would be a problem) The tutorial lets you score critical hits with your pistol, by the way, even though you can't do that until you've levelled up. Same deal with giving you a free Awareness skill. Sure, maybe they could have said it explicitly - but in the end, I just don't think it's that big of a deal. I guess we won't agree. -

I'm not sure how far along the game you are, but if you didn't put any points into sabotage, then there are tons of difficult bypass minigames all over the place. If you never trip an alarm or put one out, of course, you might just have never seen one so far, as a matter of coincidence. You do realise that if you ever looked at the descriptions of the very first sabotage skill, you would have known about this. Of course, when we're frustrated, everything seems 'retarded'. -
They wouldn't know if this dev is a real dev that left or a troll, anyway. And what do they say? "Chris Parker is a real smart guy, we work hard here at Obsidian, honest!"? "anonymous devs" with an axe to grind - it's happened before over the last few years, it'll happen again. *shrug*

If you are a recruit, the game is harder because you're a recruit. If you're a veteran, the game is easier because you're a veteran.
-
Why are you surprised? It wouldn't make any sense to comment. People that want to see the bad side of things will believe this dev no matter what anyone else says, and it'll just look like mudslinging.

Tigranes replied to Fallen Ghost's topic in Alpha Protocol: General Discussion
It's not critical, it's a different option. If you thought the minigames were too hard, why didn't you look at investing points in Sabotage? O_o There should also be a dossier to make the door easier. -
Hrm. Does anybody know if you can edit the .ini to enable Veteran mode? I'm looking, but can't find anything.

you're serious? really? how often does corporations drag their feet when it comes to fixing problems they created? auto makers discover a defect in a car and don't fix 'cause it is cheaper to pay injury/death benefits than it is to fix the car. "you can't put a value on a human life." sure you can. companies do it all the time. it looks like bp rushed their gulf platform construction and they didn't have adequate measures for fixing potential problems... but do you really think they didn't anticipate a disaster and affix a dollar amount to a worst case scenario? *chuckle* tobacco, asbestos, petrochemical, etc... name all the industries that has been accused o' reacting slowly (or not at all) to environmental or human disasters. btw, folks is still fighting with exxon over valdez. it is very possible that the most cost-efficient response for bp is to do as little as possible... look good for the cameras while this is a public disaster, and then find ways to mitigate and avoid eventual fines two or three years from now when only the locals care/remember. I would have thought that the damage on their reputation, and also the cost of cleaning up the whole mess, and the policy implications for future operations, etc., would have been sufficient incentive for them to get a move on. On smaller scales, like your car example, sure, the money wins out, but in this case I'd have thought it was more economical for them to get the clean job done. But this does let me understand things better: Also, now that I think about it, there's surprisingly little media uproar surrounding BP... telling, really.

Maybe a bug maybe not so posting here.
Tigranes replied to snipehack's topic in Alpha Protocol: General Discussion
Oh, so you have levelled up already? Are you able to do critical hits (stay focusd on them a little, red dots zoom pinpoint)? At least they should be knocking down an enemy in 2 or 3 hits, even at a low level. What difficulty? -

Tigranes replied to snipehack's topic in Alpha Protocol: General Discussion
Alpha Protocol is an RPG. As such, it uses Mike's stats to determine whether you hit the target, and how much damage you do. Because you are a recruit, you will start with zero skill points, so you will be doing less damage and hitting the target less often. Same deal with timers - did you put points into sabotage in your first character? If so, his skills will have increased the timer. The tradeoff is that later in the game, as you put in more skill points, you will start doing a *lot* of damage and putting people down with a single headshot. -
Huh. I don't think I even have IE8... or perhaps I do. In any case, awesome!

Holy crap, they're actually doing Shogun 2? This sounds really really really good. I can't believe I'm excited again after they screwed everyone up the butt with Medieval 2 and ETW, but there it is. Less factions, smaller map, less units, all that is great news and means they can concentrate on making the AI and core game better instead of slapping on every tom **** and harry. Sounds like they're going a bit more 'fantastical' with hero units and so forth, that's fine with me as long as it's done well.

A new bug, i think this game hates me. Gadget training
Tigranes replied to snipehack's question in PC Support
Right, the sneaking mission will have interfered with the gadget mission - that was my guess as well. Since to the game, gadget 'training' is the same as real missions, I guess they didn't mix well. Good to know it worked out. -
Game freezes when I turn on/off the TV
Tigranes replied to Paraclete's question in PlayStation 3 Support
There are spots in the game where you have to watch the TV reports, what happens there? Or you haven't got to anything like that yet?
