  1. Common sense dictates they are. What's not certain is how much they can change this in a patch, and how fast.
  2. Nearly instant for me, hell, I can hit Stance Change key while she is invisible (teleporting) and she will change stance at the same instant she completes teleport, so it's possible to, say, teleport and immediately launch a spinning kick. But heal is only meant to be used in a defensive stance, and you're only able to be in a defensive stance standing still.
  3. Steam makes it ridiculously difficult/impossible to roll back patches for all of their games. Yes, it sucks. Edit: My bad, not so much the consoles apparently.
  4. "Co-op players can absolutely expect to have the loot and experience they gain in multiplayer games to be saved to their multiplayer characters ... Achievements and Trophies earned in multiplayer are still saved to your profile as normal and there are additional awards that you can only receive from playing in a multiplayer co-operative game." And that is exactly what happens. They just can't be imported to different games. It's kinda silly to get hung up on devs 'lying' when they didn't, anyway - much more important is whether the design works for you or not. I don't care, but I can see why others don't like it.
  5. I think Obsidian would love to make a proper old school RPG, they just strongly believe that it would probably spell the end of their company, at least in its current form (i.e. high-profile, high-budget titles). Whether they're right or not we will probably never know, but in the end you can only speak what you do - i.e. they can't release a more streamlined, console-friendly game like DS3 then say "Oh, we think people that can't handle making 6 characters are stupid".
  6. After a couple of playthroughs I'm definitely thinking hardcore isn't that hard once you get into it - unpacking .oaf files suggest that we might be able to mod in tougher difficulty, but probably only in terms of, say, higher HP/damage/etc for enemies, which isn't great as it can distort gameplay mechanics (i.e. rollfest). It might be interesting to increase the move rate of enemies very slightly, give them more focus, and increase their attack speed very slightly - even that would make a huge difference, I'd think. Imagine being level 2 and having those Lescanzi archers/gunmen fire faster, right now they fire like they have 16th century muskets.
  7. Echo this. I want to like it because it's D&D but I keep hearing it's crapola.
  8. Both communities still seemed to have some life in them last I checked a few years ago, but perhaps the BG2 modworld is finally running out of steam. Can't help with the modding, but interested to try it out. I usually avoided NPC mods like the plague - generally the refuge for self-indulgent, undisciplined, fanboy-gushing writing and design prone to overpowered NPCs, horribly fanfic deviations of Bioware romances or awful voice-acting... but hey, Obsidianites unite, I guess.
  9. That sounds like a pretty weird bug, since the companions mechanics should make sure that drop-in characters are built in the same way as host characters. I won't be co-oping for a few days but I'll have a look too.
  10. No concrete solution yet, but see here and continue discussion.
  11. Others have reported that your gamepad does work with the x360ce emulator linked to in the FAQ, or even other tools. For that particular emulator, make sure that you run the .exe, configure the keys correctly, and also move to the second tab and select 'gamepad' in the drop-down menu. If this is not done the game will not recognise your controller - and when it doesn't recognise one, it won't let you select Gamepad Support.
  12. Many empowered abilities use 2 orbs - most powerful oens, such as Pillar of Fire (Anjali), Flintlock thing (Katarina), etc.
  13. Vera only really threatens you in 2 key ways;
  14. The sticky on the forum answers the questions, yes. I don't think they've spoken on the camera issue yet, but it doesn't make sense for devs to mention or promise anything before they are 100% sure - if they said "we'll look at camera" then turned out it couldn't be changed, that would be even worse. Initial modding attempts indicate it may be possible to 'unlock' a higher zoom for the camera ourselves, but who knows...
  15. Probably too early for DLC/expansion talk at the moment, I'm sure they're focusing on getting a good patch out first. Concrete sales numbers are very rarely openly released by devs/publishers though, unless to give exaggerated figures for promo purposes.
  16. Are we only talking about the life steal proficiencies on Lucas' healing ability, or all defensive stance abilities and their effects? I assume that you've made sure the Lucas in that game actually has points in the proficiency?
  17. What exactly is the bug itself? Just that there is no narrator's voice when you start a new game? Does everything else sound OK afterwards (or in other cutscenes)? As far as patching goes, they've been doing a few small, incremental updates (I imagine for individual, gamebreaking bugs), but a big 'proper' patch is on the way. If you weren't having major problems with the game before, then you might simply want to hold off on the updates for now. DLCs shouldn't matter.
  18. Good description of DS1. (kidding... )
  19. Spent 160 minutes waiting for customer service because Jetstar/Qantas cancelled my flight with 13 hours left. Volcanic ash my arse.
  20. Who knows, there could be all sorts of reasons for different people. In the end I enjoyed the game and wanted to start again as soon as I finished, so that's what matters to me. One thing is that I'd have liked a little more layers in the Stonebridge quests - easily the best part of the game.
  21. 17 hours for me, would have been 2-3 hours less if I didn't play hardcore and reloaded a fair bit, but then I skipped 90% of voice acting, so it all depends.
  22. As with most other developers, Obsidian can't give 1-to-1 tech support to everyone because, well, it wouldn't be possible. They do tend to read the forums and reply where they can though. The official tech support is provided by the publisher - in this case, Square Enix, with whom you could open a support ticket at their website. I wish I could help but I don't really have any leads here. Usually it'd be things like bad installs, DLC, pirated copies, etc but all that seems a bit unlikely. AFAIK Limited Edition doesn't change anything.
  23. You know you can choose active quests in your journal to see where the breadcrumbs lead, right? Not to mention all quest specific areas show up on the minimap when you are near, and the minimap can be zoomed out a bit more. You don't need to complete one quest then look up a different quest, that's purely up to what you do.
  24. Man, this is hard. I got through with Katarina hardcore after ten tries or so, but this is a lot harder - I can't really use the human form much at all, because of all the mobs, and run around in fire form spamming pillar of fire, but all you need is just one mistake - if you get hit by one of the knockdown attacks you're pretty much dead. I just give up on Lucas when the archon comes out.
