  1. Con is for Fortitude against stunlock, it is not maximum viable I agree Max for Fire Godlike it will take longer for bonuses to activate. I wonder if casting Essence on top cancels it. I think Moon will play a bit differently from Fire, summons wise for example. You may want to check the attack speed/recovery thread because nor Dex nor Mig stated seem maximum viable. Without casting damage spells damage should come from melee. While there, check on weapon stats. Hatchet for example does not shine much nor does lowering attack speed. Sure you get + 10 deflection and in theory do not lose much but its 3rd level spell to offset it. Not per encounter one. Looks good, let know how it goes.

Probably posted several times elsewhere but not here The Old Watcher, final fight Maerwald --- --- While there are several ways of doing this, what works for me is following: Note: don't quick save after dialogue, can get bugged After dialogue, run out of the room and when no LoS cast fleet feet. There is some time to cast something else but .. run to entrance of south west room to aggro beetles. Run back and ideally both beetles and boss will follow. The timing is such that they meet half way. Kite it out and park it somewhere safe to have visual on the battle, say barrels by the stairs. Now its matter of luck so observe and act if one side is about to win as that side will aggro. 2-3 reloads max, first try possible. --- edit: its possible to enchant Whispers of Yenwood to Fine right after looting it. should have mats and cash if explored before thoroughly.
  3. How viable they are is matter of testing it for couple of hours. Say till stronghold because after that there are lots of options and generally easier leveling if one knows where to go and when. I am not even doing Ranga at the Compass no more still hit level 4 and have enough cash for belt, figurine and about 2k left. . Stealth 5 Mech 3. Looting and getting exp from Raedric seems safest and efficient. The only risky encounter are Bears, which give exp instead of Ranga, but by then I had figurine. This relatively small investment will inform on class better than any thread here imo You might wanna pm @iamknownastherat, he was commenting in my solo PoTD tips (not exploits) thread and he was doing wizard, think he was just short of act 3. I can answer any general questions but IMO wizards arnt the best class to do this, their base stats are garbage so you are gonna be relying quite heavily on your spells hitting. Im a bit biased but might i suggest the chanter instead, they have better base stats and get a smaller range of spells but can cast them as many times as they like. . In terms of EXP gain if you look at the numbers pretty much 99% of your exp comes from quests, I mean people always say max out mechanics for the trap exp but that exp is insignificant compared to quests, also you get much more exp from main story quests generally. You should know that a lot of your fights are going to come down to dice rolls, wizards have good burst and CC but if they miss you are totally screwed most fights. I got as far as level 4 with my battle mage before I decided he wasnt worth it. In a party your wizard can get away with garbage tier stats but in solo play low deflection means you will get shredded if you get hit. Anyway its always good to see another soloer so give it a try , jsut be aware that solo play is quite different than party play in that certain things become far more deadly (eg traps are often a game over screen) Yeah, I put that on hold. At level 9 I had most of the cool stuff and it did not feel it was gonna get harder, rather the opposite. I am playing Fire God now. Cant give up on the idea of melee Wizard so I am tying something else now. The one on hold was viable in a sense that she was capable of wining the fights she needed to progress in game. The only two encounters I could not beat, at the level I got them, are documented in the solo thread pinned at the top of the forum. So yes early game explore and hoard, win couple of test fights and head for two difficult, and different, fights which will test how well you understand the class and whether or not its something you like.
  4. Almost seems like their QA need lessons from soloers Joking aside. Why they left it in game? It was surely tested more than 50 hours those who come here to rediscover the wheel have under their belt? Maybe just for those who cant overcome certain encounters so they would be able to overcome them and IF that is so, its fine because it does not need to affect anyone else who does not want. Hope there will be future patch to fix bugs and/or add content.
  5. Not bad for level 1 spell indeed. There was, with some of them, downside = no loot. After all that is also what RPGs are about loot, decisions, consequences.
  6. Imprisonment or Time Stop? Admittedly first one is single target and the other cc but there were sequencers, contingencies, pre-buffs, invisibility! - mechanics so "OP" that make Petrify pale in comparison. I still do not understand why such concern. Its not mandatory to use it and if enemies do, well, the game is not balanced around solo play. That said I don't care if devs hear to this and nerf it or remove it. It will have no impact on my games.
  7. "I" will be able to cast them as seen on last screen shot, especially stuff like Aim or Siphon, though 2nd level is admittedly not as hmm useful. Maybe I put Mirror Image there or maybe the Veil hmm. I mentioned it before but my philosophy is to end fights asap hance my build. The reason to want protection is not to get hit because getting hit is not efficient in terms of need for healing and/or being interrupted in given time frame. If, however, healing self also means damage and interruptions are not big issue, the reason for protection becomes less relevant. I try to melee as much as I can to avoid resting but in tougher fights its more casting and melee (1h) for finishing blows. I am the last one to preach optimal builds less so play styles.
  8. Thanks. Veil .. is talent and its like spell. The extra 1st and 2nd level spell talents become even better post level 9 while Veil gets buffed by another talent if I understand it correctly. So its different kind of Wizard .. do you melee much? edit: I play with Cape of Withdrawal on so Fast Runner (if it stacks) is alright. Anything can be skipped It can give edge well passively.

  10. I've played with a pale elf wizard with hardened veil solo a bit. Was quite durable in my book. Per rest deflection you can always get back if you really need it, can be tedious to backtrack though. +10 cold/fire resist with bulwark makes you more or less immune to these elements. Also, for this particular fight, torrent of flame should be pretty great. I've been toying with elf for some time now. Well, yes spells are too per rest. What I meant was its another cast during battle and they tend to happen fast. Neat idea about fire/cold resist. Damn it. Another restart? edit: torrent .. more than 15 mins it took me to decide. took raw damage aoe and protection. Indeed, aoe around caster on fast? gimme
  11. The Forgotten, Aedelvan Bridge ---- Pull back, only 2 (1 + 1 coming from another direction depending on dialogue) will follow. Could not mange to get the gate guards involved but bettles are fine --- Back across the bridge where the rest .. not sure what they do there. --- ---- First try, level 9. Note that start of this fight is not quite predictable. If someone has predictable opening, the result would also be. I got creamed here at level 7 ... doing almost the same.
  12. I'd wish nothing else but not to get hit. Tried 2 builds before but could not get it working. Nobody will do damage for me ~ summons and per rest deflection, well, as you said prone to debuffs. But inspired by your mighty defense I might try to come up with something later.
  13. I used this on my cipher: Vailan Clothing. Backer in Guilded Vale --- --- virtually 0 DR on hard with 3 Con but I would not recommend it.

  15. That is quite interesting. I soak up decent amount of damage almost 17k in comparison to damage dealt at 34k. I cant "walk up" anywhere. --- Have you done this? The Wailing Banshee I tried like 20 times when I was level 7 and could not even get close to winning. Now, I've done it level 9 first attempt but when taking scree game crashed Lets see how consistent it can be.
  16. Actually I am lead to believe that Dex makes difference. It influences casting speed, less interrupts thus less need for Concentration, and recovery. With 2W style and fast attack taking the talent which allows for 2 Focus generation on hit, Mig could become dump stat contrary to what seems to be conventional wisdom. It also synergizes with high Interrupt rating. Lets say focus generation is 1 Focus for every 3-4 points of damage. 2 Focus is then 6-8 point of damage. How much Mig is that?
  17. And I do not see point in killing them .. everyone's different. There is no way I would change my in-game behavior in order to get achievement for the reasons stated above. btw I love the art work
  18. Hmm because that is how I like to play the game? That is what I am trying to tell you. Forget about achievements, they are meaningless and they serve only as reward mechanism in Skinner box. But if you think that achievement is more important that fun from playing game, well, there is no measure to taste.
  19. Perception/Might/Intellect Cipher is viable option. Used to run high Per/Dex low Mig/Con cipher for mobility and cc and those Pwgras could not get spell off due to cipher interrupting all the time.
  20. I meet NPC, hire them, and they turn out to be nudist who like to stand in pub which happens to be against "solo achievement" .. lol? So I disregard this stupidity and play my own game .. solo.
  21. Ideally weapon (mean) of appropriate type would differ from encounter to encounter. Now I do not know if claim: enemies tend to have this kind of resistance is close to reality, do not have any stats, but I know it makes lot of difference to have gear upgraded and to use water against fire. There is Bestiary in the official guide listing all specifics and so it similar version in Journal, albeit needs to be discovered. So I would recommend have all 3 types at disposal. For example Axe for slashing and hammer for crushing/piercing. Slashing against mage and crushing against knight. There is no simple comparison as "vs" depends on encounter.
  22. lol maybe we should forget about achievements? I know its 21st century and there are achievements for watching TV on X1 but ... what does it matter? Cant put it on CV and getting laid? Doubtful. That someone with behavioral psychology degree set artificial goal for us does not mean we have to care. Is my solo legit since I put a bunch of nudist into a pub? According to Steam not but Steam can kiss my ass I know what I am doing and how. Its possible to edit local files ffs! These achievement are worth nothing from competitive point of view.
