How am I bothering you, you're the one clicking on the thread and getting upset. That isn't my doing.

Wildstrike is a waste of talent, the form scales very badly and only lasts 12 seconds. I'd put the first talent in one of the elemental dmg, ranged, or melee talents depending on what you're going to be doing in between spells. (Probably ranged weapons, safest bet.) BTW some projectile spells do benefit from penetrating shots.

Druid Spiritform Balance

Even infinite duration it sucks. I've tried a mod that does that, the stats don't scale and you stay with low level stats because it disregards your gear. -

There is logic behind this. The game is not able to save buff/de-buff effects. Allowing pre-buffing would simply break save/loading functions. Why do you think temporary weapons which was still in inventory outside combat was breaking the game? When you save game while the temporary weapon/ buff/ de-buff is still there -> Breaks save files. The fixes for lots of bugs are simple. Do not allow them outside combat... Ahh I see, makes sense then. -
Melee Mage is perfectly viable if pumped to full INT and DEX. Start every encounter with Arcane Assault once your tank has engaged the enemies, then run into melee with the lvl1 summon staff spell. It kicks ass on lowlevel. Later on you´ll need "real" weapons, ofc, but by then you´ll have enough spells to supplement your melee combat. I guess it's do-able if you rest A LOT. After the 4th encounter aren't you out of spells to actually do melee decently...with most of the dungeon still left?

There are actually much more OP powerful combos, but the thing is the game isn't that hard so even something like this can blow stuff up which is awesome.
-
Yeah, The defensive and melee ones suck though. They are counter-intuitive. -You can't really build for melee since they are per-rest and low hp wiz, so why did they bother putting in all these melee abilities? (Touch/Staff/Defenses) -As caster, your party Tanks are too good, you never get hit anyways. If a mob somehow makes it to your casters, like a teleporter, then you just use CC and move. Casting a +20 deflect is suicide.

On the topic of pre-buffing,....it makes no sense that you can'd do this. Why? You can pre-AOE...I start some fights (I don't have to, I just do it for lols) with putting down a few Druid/Wizard AoE DoTs, and then I launch a rolling flame and mental lance...... One would say pre-AOE is actually far more powerful than pre-Buff. So if you can pre-AOE cheese, why not pre-Buff cheese? All it does is make a needless chore for some classes. -

Oh, thank god I didn't say anything like that and your entire post is a massive strawman, or I'd be in trouble, because such a position would be indefensible. Phew. Dodged a bullet there. The bullet was intended for a strawman three miles away, but with that aim, I was lucky nontheless. Basically, there are several different kinds of AoE effects. A "Foe AoE" only hits enemies. A "regular" AoE hits everyone (excep right by the edge of the spell, where it only hits enemies.. for some reason). And Chill Fog was changed from Foe AoE to a regular AoE. The reason this is causing some commotion is that the Wizard is widely considered wildly underpowered compared to the Druid, while the Wizard is considered meh at best, and Chill Fog was a really, really powerful low-level spell available to wizards (who rightfully suffer more at lower levels than higher ones). I think most people are OK with the change itself, just that it needs to be balanced to account for it. Slicken was also crazy, and have been known to be crazy since early in the beta. It's odd to see something done about it now, of all times, when it should've been adjusted a long time ago. The criticism levvied against that change has more to do with theme and the underpoweredness of Wizards, rather than against the actual change itself - most everyone that was in the beta knew that Slicken was pretty broken. Again, I think most people realize that it clearly needed a nerf, and just question the way it's done (since it changes the nature of the spell; rather than being a persistent "trap"-like effect, it's instant and localized, like a fireball that does no damage and just makes people go prone). I don't mind the nerf to Slicken. But Chill Fog is over-board, Druid has a few insane Foe-Only AOE that do several times more damage. I'm still gonna try stack it on top of my two tanks, I'll just give them cold DR on chest and the cold-stamina items I suppose. The issue is T2 already sucks, so if T1 sucks too...then the progression to level 9 feels less epic. I know when my Wizard hit level 9 it truly did feel amazing. -
The No Bad Choices Thread

Yeah. I've tried parties with single target classes who have no real spammable CC. It was do-able, but miles below what others can do. Wiz/Druid/Cipher are on a different level than the others. Chanter comes close due to the Arrow Chant, but that is going bye-bye. -
I think the issue is people who Player_Character a Wizard and don't want to just be controlling GM most of the time. Slicken/Fog where the things that made me use my PC more often than not due to the rest system, especially at level 9. Oh wells. Maybe the new spell ranges will change that? I would have loved a buff to the book attacks and implements to compensate.

The No Bad Choices Thread
Parsong replied to PrimeJunta's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Theres a few classes that do like half the dmg and offer no real utility compared to something like Cipher/Druid/Mage, but for the most part they are fine. -
Cipher and Wizard Top two MVPs. CC Too Stronk in this game. After those two, probably Chanter and Druid secondary MVPs. The Tanks can be interchangeable. Monk/Ranger/Barb/Rogue/DPS-Fighter/DPS-Paladin are waste of space in my Elite Seal Team 6 parties, and I'd just rather have another of the above. I know people will say I'm wrong about Rogue, but I'd rather explode and completely negate the whole screen than have a bit more single target dmg. Priest is the one I'm usually on the fence about. He's not that necessary at a certain level of Deflection/CC-spam.

Also regen brought back HP + No fatigue, so also less reasons to rest. But those 2 things I like about PoE rest system. Adds some sort of difficulty. The spell thing tho, just makes some classes kinda boring. -

I think a good middle ground is to allow per encounters to start earlier, rather than lvl 9. Especially after these nerfs. -

So you guys just use your small damage book attack (which is a dps loss for me, 70+ arbalast) and switch to GM or something...for almost all the game? I think I woulda lost my mind if lvl 9 wasn't so damn good. Until next patch that is. My spam skill goes to crap. (Ice Wizard tears)
