This is actually sub-optimal, as you are probably taking away some barbarians "One Stands Alone" potential by eating away so many Engagement slots with 6 melee. I notice on my Retaliation Barb, Which is super OP, having too many melee kills the super OPness of OSA. Just three barbs might be better, as long as they also have Retaliation gear. The other three can be empty or Chanters/Ciphers. That being said, OSA is so OP that this build would probably still faceroll anything if even one barb has it activated.

I havnt tried the Fog build on my second play through with the new patch. I might get a Pale tank and load up on some frost resist gear. Spamming that endlessly really just is crazy. My combat log ends up being "hit by Chill Fog" for miles. Ive seen it crit for 30 which is impressive for rapid fire dot. Also I wonder how that Bloody Slaughter would work with that build, considering you are hitting many times with low damage, allowing it to actually be pretty useful.

I haven't really tried Wizard too much after 1.03. (Lore>Wizards now ) I originally beat PotD maining one. But, My favorite spec was straight up Chill Fog spam with the Cold Talent. Made me feel more than just a CC bot on the 3-4 hard fights. The damage could impressively ramp up and provided constant and major debuffs. At level 9 this obviously became even more hilarious and amazing. Almost on par with the shenanigans other classes could pull off (And continue to pull off, because only nerf Wizards). The blight spec does seems to be the best possible flat DPS for a Wizard. But managing and maintaining it on my test adventurer are proving rather difficult. Sometimes I can't chain pull or my party just blows stuff up too fast. I would love a mod that made Blights per encounter or stay on after combat.

This absolutely kills so many Wizard builds. The wand summons is actually worth building around, 4 talents and three other buff spells. But it can barely be done because how buffs work.....so you have to constantly chain pull or you're screwed. You can't buff until in combat, but once combat ends the spells go away.... Combine this with spells per rest and it becomes a huge joke. I'd bet you this is the reason so many people pick Cipher over Wizard (ever seen any poll since beta? It's a landslide). He has almost no builds and part of it is due to buffing mechanics.

One Stands Alone adds +20dmg to all melee attacks. This includes any speed weapon, retaliation (OP), and fire-god aura. And then carnage works with them all too......And then Draining works with all of that damage. Maybe its bugged or maybe they wanted to give Cipher and Chanter's T3 Songs competition
-
But thats two T3 spells per encounter, so you can only keep that up for 3 encounters.... And by the time all the buffs are up it's likely that a well made party (T3 Chants, Barb, Druid, Cipher) will leave almost nothing alive. The Buff System (in combat/ending after combat, ugh) + Spell Rest system really makes these kind of awesome potential builds a huge pain in the ass. But the build does seem sweet, and I'd recommend Infuse with Vital Essence to heal HP loss from dangerous implements (it for some reason gives back HP at combat end). (P.S. Does Penetrating Shots effect Blights?)

chanter dragon thrashed: wow...
Parsong replied to demeisen's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Druids and Ciphers have already been doing that for months now. Sawyer + Wizard = Where fun goes to die. -
Even better, Cipher! Real talk though, avoid all Wizard Talents except +1 spell ones. Maybe even avoid some of those, (T2). Possibly take elemental damage talents (Utility) and possibly Penetrating Shots if you like using Projectile spells and a Ranged Weapon. I personally like the 20% frost dmg, as I'm a Fog Spammer.

And btw, this was a simple thread for a group of people asking for a camping mod. (Most of us had already beat the game.) It was invaded by the CoolKids pretty much subtly insulting us and telling us stop asking for a mod, and the Moderator had to change the topic.

Im 3/4th into my second playthrough without using them much. This game isn't that hard. This is a game mechanic debate, can we stop the skill debate? There isn't anything elite or special about spamming wand most of the time. It isn't some kind of mysterious strategy discovered by pro twitch gamers..... Considering most people in this thread probably beat the vanilla game already, since there is no mod yet, the skill debate is even more insulting.
-
If that's the only way of managing resources you know, maybe you should tune the difficulty down a notch. I don't use ciphers because they're stupid. Still trolling with the lolskill crap? I beat PoTD. This thread is about fun and game mechanics, please stop bringing that garbage up. It's already been disproved many times in this thread. But, Thanks for the tips Wand Master. Avoiding using your spells more than any other CRPG, DAT RESOURCE.

You mean how much he's using his Cipher over his Wizard. Let's stop being vague please. The game isn't hard, there is no secret strategies or tactics. There's only two reasons people would want a unlimited camp mod or IE resting mod, 1. Less load screens on Solo. 2. Play his PC more often Wizard/Druid, rather than control Grieving Mother for 30+ hours. Not because they couldn't understand some kind of epic strategy. I hope people can stop bringing up lolskill just because someone wants to play their caster rather than wand, in a long game.
-
Use your brain, also known as control your overturned Cipher more often than your per-rest casters. Sucks for anyone with a PC Wizard, who will wand most of the game and pretty much be denied use melee/tanking builds which require many spells per encounter. Riveting design. IE had it right. Same goes for stealth design. Some things you don't change. Just more convenient. Also, I consider neither are cheating. As someone who beat PoTD, All it does is make the easy encounters quicker for those who run without a Cipher. Also it appears no one made that mod, no people PM'd me back and its not up on Nexus. It appears as final release it stopped working.

Current status of Monks
Parsong replied to Maydawn's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
1. Lower dmg than other melee-dps like barb and rogue. Including their off-tank specs. 2. Worse pure tank than fighter, pally, chanter. 3. If you still use fists, you're doing really bad dmg later on. Build? Maybe its some wild/secret Monk build I haven't seen yet, but that just doesn't seem possible numbers wise...when objectively comparing to barb, rogue, cipher, and a druid who blows all his spells. -
God Tier: Cipher. Top Tier: Druid, Chanter, Priest, High lvl Wizard. Middle Tier: Barbarian, Rogue, Fighter, Paladin. Low Tier: Ranger. (Buff pet and he'll be perfect) Stupid Tier: Monk. (And I'll explain) Monk is so counter intuitive. Rogue/Barb do more dps, even in their defensive builds. Just take one of these in your party instead of Monk. Apart from lower dmg and bad talents, you need to get hit to gain resource. So it's tank build or bust....yet he's a worse tank than Fighter/Paladin and even Chanter...... He's a walking oxymoron, or just a moron. And lol, fists go to crap fast. Where are the classic Monk talents that give fists -DT? Where are the bonus DT in cloth? The Magic resists? Where is the deflect? Why is he called monk?

Aloth the Pin Cushion
Parsong replied to MightyUnclean's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Replace him with GM or the Harvy, until like level 10+ when Aloth gets that one or two decent Wizard spells that do long CC.
