Favorite KOTOR Woman (both games)
Muad'Dib replied to Topaz Quasar's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Oh I'm sorry, I forgot I had to base my tastes according to your own Bastila was also on the cover of the original box and a big part of that game. I don't dislike Atris, I don't even know what she's like yet and I seriously doubt you do. She may be a great character with a lot of depth or she may be completely flat and uninteresting. So I don't like what she looks like and I found depth in Bastila's character as she began to change half way through the game so what? Does this make my choice any less valid than yours? Oh and her look is hardly original either a young white haired samurai woman, yeah that hasn't been done to death in anime (No offense to either Atris lovers nor anime enthusiasts ) You don't like my pick, fine makes no difference to me, however I do expect you respect my choice even if it isn't the same as your own. -
Well nightcleaver I certainly doubt so much publicity would be wasted on some random guy with a real neat outfit. Besides they are giving him too much importance (Posters and artworks) for him to be just some guy with a mask. I think Atris' lightsaber is the one that looks a little too long.

3PO is cool in those banters he's exchanging with R2 all the time. HK was funny in a really sadistic sort of way. However I was always partial to Leebo myself, I thought he was a pretty cool droid.

ShadowFaxIV: Ah don't worry about the spelling, I type so fast I constantly have to correct typos myself. Thanks for the complement. Lol yeah, that's my all time favorite book. I assume you like LotR another fave of mine or am I wrong? OT: Can anyone tell who Atris is dueling? Is this the third Sith or just an assassin or Sith warrior? Because it doesn't look like a woman to me and it also doesn't look like Sion or Nihilis (Whatever he may end up being called )? kumquatq3: You said you got them of the LA press site, that's the same as the normal LA site? Or something else? I'd love to see the full PC cover up close. Great find btw.

Actually Atris comes close.. considering she is probably goign to be teh NEw Bastilia of the new game only mroe experienced and hotter. If she has a British accent that woudl jsut be wierd though <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Well Influence this is very much a subjective opinion depending on your tastes. So I can tell you without a doubt that as far as the ladies of KotOR go, a real life Bastila would far outshine a real life Atris, for me I mean. I prefer brunettes, I loved her accent, I liked her character, I found her a conflicted character because of the choices I made through playing, in the end she began to mellow out as she choose love over her obidience to nthe Code in the Star Forge, she took the leap no matter the consequences and I was so hoping to see her character grow and find out what those consequences would be in KotOR 2, so Bastila is my choice. Atris has been drawn with a real pretty face, and I'm pretty sure that I will like her personality (Unless the devs really screw her up which I doubt). But while many people like her white hair, I don't find it attractive, where she a real woman. But hey it's all good and if you like Atris more power to you, I look forward to seeing what kind of storyline they're going to give her ingame. Though I'll probably romance Mira (Man I hope they fixed her face a bit) it intrigues me the idea I read that maybe Atris is the third Sith (I don't mean a short flirt with DS like Bastila but a full fledged fall into darkness for Atris) and how this would affect the romance sub-story would have awesome potential were something like that ingame. -
We were told Darth Ni or something like that wasn't the name of MSG when these forums were new and supposedly a dev let the name out by mistake the same as happened with Atris, this is also the same dev that confirmed that MSG is a male. There has also been no official confirmation that WHC (White Haired Chick) is named Atris yet everyone has settled into calling her that. Btw it's Nihilis not Nihilus, I know it's 1 letter difference but just a reminder You asked why I keep calling MSG Darth Nihilis, simple: In the Hypermag preview they introduced 2 new Sith Lords; Darth Nihilis and an unnamed Sith Woman that looks like the Queen from Snow White. It has been stated (Though unconfirmed) that there are a total of 3 Sith Lords in the game. Now if Sion is one, the unnamed woman is two, MSG is three making him Darth Nihilis. Unless the preview has it wrong, there are more than 3 Sith Lords or were purposely given misinformation to keep MSG's name secret, then MSG is Nihilis. So until an official name is released or the devs confirm the article had it wrong, I'll keep referring to MSG as Darth Nihilis. OT: The cover art is pretty cool, it's quite similar to the original, yet for some reason I liked the original better. Somehow the original reminds me more of the old time movie posters of the OT, but both are pretty impressive. The secrecy of the third Sith, the Woman, is fueling my belief she may be the true Lord (Or Lady in this case) since not so much as a picture has been seen yet. Still Nihilis does hold the Malak position in the cover which might mean he's the ultimate Lord. The picture reminds me of the same as the first sketch I saw of him (The one in my avatar minus the Lightsaber) I wonder if it the same, if it is then in the original you can see silhouettes of his face behind the mask.

There is a female PC head with white hair, seen in screenies as a Dark Sider, however it was confirmed it was not Atris and just a separate PC head.

Yup, I think it was during the conversation when HK-47 regains his memory, or shortly thereafter. HK-47 tells Revan that he was one of 50 assassination droids Revan created during his reign as Dark Lord.

Muad'Dib replied to Topaz Quasar's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Bastila of course, no else even comes close. -
In the original KotOR is was established that Revan had built 50 Hunter Killer robots during his reign as Dark Lord. In one of the articles it was stated that HK-50 would not be the only HK droid to appear meaning that maybe HK-47 does come out or another HK. I got the impression that HK-50 is a villain from the description in the article, maybe HK-47 comes out for LS?? Who knows at this point.
-
I don't call him Darth Nihilus, I call him Darth Nihilis. And I'm doing that because supposedly in the article a Sith Lord was introduced with that name along with an unnamed female Sith. Since supposedly there are 3 Sith Lords in the game; we know Resident Evil zombie is Sion, the female Sith was referred to without a name and the other Lord introduced is Nihilis, so that leads to the conclusion that MSG is Nihilis. The article may be wrong of course, or there may be more than 3 Sith Lords, nothing has been confirmed or denied just yet. So for the time being I'm referring to MSG as Nihilis, got sick of calling him MSG anyway.

That's not necessarily true Influence. What I believe is that she will probably appear in a cameo as a non-party npc, however Bastila and other women could be potential party members theoretically. The devs already have established that there are more party npcs available than what will be useable in one play through. In other words, you get to choose which npcs accompany you through the game while other npcs that could have joined don't come along with you. The way this is pretty sure to work is based on the PC's alignment, if you are LS then some npcs exclusive to DS will never join and vise versa. But it was possible to also add more npcs than you can take for both alignments. In other words, you can have a total of 10 npcs in your party being LS or DS but there are a total of 15 possible LS npcs and 15 DS. So you could have maybe both Bastila and Atris in your party but choose not to have Mira or Kreia. This is something like Baldur's Gate 2, where you could potentially play the entire game and still have npcs left over who never joined you. This would also add replayability to KotOR 2 in my opinion because there are subquests and characters you didn't see or play along with in a previous game. Now I'm not saying they did this, I'm failry sure they didn't but I just explained how they could have Bastila as a party npc while also having Mira, Kreia and Atris already ingame. That would certainly expand the game's lifespan imo.

I'd love to have the option of having Bastila in the party again, I say option because that means you don't have to take her with you if you don't want. I'd love to replace Atris with her and see Bastila grow from spoiled self centered brat (Something like Obi in Ep1) to venerable Jedi Knight, and of course so I can charm her using every cheap come on this side of "Han Solo's Guide to Picking up Women...a Comprehensive Manual for the Intergalactic Scoundrel".

Am according to that article two Sith Lords were revealed. Darth Nihilis and a Sith woman. Unless the reports of 3 Sith Lords being the total number in the game are wrong, then MSG is Darth Nihilis. There is no mention of the Sith woman's name, guess it wasn't revealed? Since the XBN preview reported that Sion is the Lord of the Sith at the opening of the game that makes me wonder a few things. I think it may be a possibility that the Sith Lords are not working together and that Darth Nihilis at some point takes the mantle of Dark Lord from Sion (As Sion just doesn't have the feel of a true Lord) or since there is so much secrecy about the Sith Woman, she may end up being the ultimate Dark Lady of the Sith and Darth Nihilis is her disciple. Then again the 3 might have formed some sort of Sith Council though I find that possibility the least likely. Oh well guess I'll find out in February.

Final villian is it Revan?
Muad'Dib replied to Master Cypher's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
One of the devs had confirmed long ago that the masked guy is a male and one of the 3 (Or more?) Sith Lords in the game. Seeing as Revan can be male or female from your choices I highly doubt MSG will turn out to be Revan. Plus in my opinion having Revan be the villain is kind of a cheap trick considering he was once the Dark Lord of the Sith and because of the multiple endings he/she could've had at the end of the first game. It would feel like they're reusing the formula from part 1 and to me would be very unoriginal. However, I do have the feeling that Revan will play a very important role in the resolution of KotOR 2, hopefully exactly what role he/she will play will be affected by not only the choices we make for Revan at the ending of part 1 but also depending on the alignment the PC makes here aswell. -
Former silver guy looks even cooler now. The different hilts is a nice touch, I wonder how many there are and if they are modified when you modify the saber. The Zabrak's severed energy left arm is weird, don't really like it but it doesn't bother me much either. If the drone is the "pet" thing they are keeping so tight lipped about, then honestly I'm hugely disappointed, besides we already have two droid pets in the party anyway, HK and T3, I was hoping for something different. Atton is...well still Atton. :D

Do you want Star Wars RPG games to keep on coming?
Muad'Dib replied to DSLuke's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Another KotOR game would probably be all right, although since these games are not really sequels anyway there's little point in having any kind of an official trilogy for KotOR...that is unless KotOR 3 mixed characters from KotOR 1 and 2 with new characters. Otherwise, it might as well be KotOR 500 or even 2000 years after the original 2 games. It would all have to depend on what kind of story they could develop for KotOR 3 and any subsequent game in the series, should there be any more. As for KotNR, I'm very skeptical about such a game being made. If such a game were to be made while still within Luke Skywalker's lifetime, I feel the game should not follow the developments of the EU as closely as KotOR did. Though KotOR made up Malak and Revan and this Sith War from scratch, they used the EU backgrounds of the war with Exar Kun, Mandalorians and heroes such as Nomi Sunrider. I would not want to see KotNR follow this precedent however beyond very brief exceptions. I wouldn't mind if I see Mara Jade-Skywalker, the Solo children or even a grown up Ben Skywalker. However, I would not like to see references or stories based from cloned Emperor Palpatine, resurrected Boba Fett and absolutely no Yuuzhan Vong. Should the game be like 4,000 years after the movies where the developers can accomodate an original look for the SW universe while remaining as faithful as KotOR is then that would be for me much more preferrable. -
Padawan means apprentice. It's the same thing, they are not supposed to be different ranks. Padawan Learners are what apprentices are called before they pass the Jedi trials to become Knights. At least as far as the movies go, the Jedi ranks are: Padawan, Knight, Master. There's never been any official description of Sith ranks in the movies other than receiving the title of Darth after being knighted as Sith knights. Supposedly Ep3 will show Vader's naming ceremony so that might clarify a little about the Sith ranks.
-
I think that KotOR 2 should have one scene at least where the reigning Sith Lord orders: "Wipe them out, all of them". And just once I want to see Mask Sith Guy yell at some lowly Sith officer: "Hey! Leggo my Eggo!!!" Then he Force Grips the poor schmuck to death.
-
LOL yeah, one lies the other is a senile yokal, good explanations. Of course Ben wasn't at that age in Ep4 himself now was he...he also claimed Yoda trained him, we now know that wasn't exactly true now was it.

Bastila vs. Atris vs. Mira
Muad'Dib replied to Topaz Quasar's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
If I could choose my leading lady for KotOR 2 from this list it would be Bastila definately. I loved tormenting her with cheap pick up lines in the first game, the same way I'm tormenting this girl with those lines in real life also I was also hoping to see her character grow and the relationship with her evolve in KotOR 2, so she's my choice. From the other two, hopefully Mira looks a little more...femenine now. If that were the case and I couldn't choose Bastila, I'd choose her. Atris creeps me out with the white hair. -
Nur it was stated very clearly that there hadn't been a full scale war for a thousand years since the formation of the Republic both by Palpatine and by Amidala's Naboo advisor in Ep1. The Old Repblic is 1k years old in the movies. I'm certain the Jedi predate the Republic itself, they were probably protecting the galaxy way before the Republic existed in whatever forms of governenment came before.

The EU being canon or not is a very hot topic and some people religiouly defend both sides of the argument. I've seen statements from both George Lucas and the editors (Or some high position) of Lucasbooks who clearly said the novels and comics are not canon in spite being official products under the SW license, the only thing canon are the movies, official novelizations of the movies and movie scripts. That's the perception I follow when dealing with anything from games to books to cartoons to holliday specials. Jedipodo the SW databank has those in a separate section appropriately titled EU. The EU is officially licensed under the SW universe and it has become so massive and sold so much that the official SW sites recognize their existence. However, if the EU were truly integrated into the canon, there wouldn't be separate sections for the movies and for the EU, it would all be together as part of what did happen in the timeline or whatever information it provides about any character, etc. So for me, there never were any Yuuzhan Vong, there is no Force that can be stripped away or lost or anything like that, the Sith were not an Empire-like military force they were a religious sect counterpart of the Jedi only worshipping the Dark Side instead of the light, the Old Republic was 1k years old not 25k, there have not been 200 clones of multiple bad guys including Palpatine and some others since they couldn't come up with newer more interesting villains, and by God Boba Fett is dead and digested. Still, I see the EU as what could have happened after or before the movies. It's basically up to you, if you like to think Thrawn took control of the Empire 5 years after RotJ and created the Imperial Remnant, then go with that. To me the only things that truly happened in the SW timeline were the movies and references made therein.

Oh I don't hate GL at all. Frankly I don't even hate the prequels like some people do. I also didn't hate the Special Edition versions of the OT nor the additions and changes in the DVD. As far as I'm concerned SW is GL's creation and he can modify it to his liking as he sees fit. However... That doesn't mean that I liked every change done or that I wasn't hoping to see some things done better. RotJ should have been the most important of the SW movies since it's the end of the saga, the closing of the entire story. ANH and ESB promised and built up what should have been the Return of the King for the SW Trilogy. Then we go from the outstanding premise of a Wookie slave revolt to jungle raised care bears defeating a legion of the Empire's best. Instead of Luke and Vader in a climatic duel in the very heart of the Empire, Palpatine's throne room in Coruscant, we go to the anticlimatic reuse of the same threat from Ep4. Though that singing number was just completely uncalled for, but since I fairly dislike the movie pre-changes anyway it wasn't much more of an annoyance than before. I feel that RotJ never came close to delivering, especially for the close of the entire story and learning of how the movie originally was going to be like. Back on topic: I don't mind seeing new planets at all or that there are more new planets than old. But I would still like to see some of the original planets as well, gives me a sense of continuity and a link to the movies. Now since Coruscant is my fave and to my knowledge there have been only 4 interpretations of it in a game before (Shadows of the Empire where I saw the planet for the very first time, Episode 1 game which kinda sucked, Jedi Power Battles see Ep1 game review and Jedi Academy which looked nothing like Coruscant and if you blink you miss the map anyway) that would be the original planet I'd most like to see, especially since so little of it has been seen in the movies anyways, just the Senate, Jedi Temple and some misc areas. Nur about your realistic approach to the era, since the games are based on the interpretations of the EU, the Old Republic has existed for 25K years instead of the movie's 1k and as such even the old tech in this era is still hugely advanced with blasters and droids and such. However, I was disappointed KotOR didn't present the Jedi as I've seen them in sketches of the era with knight-like armors, that I was so hoping for. Also the Jedi of this era had their sabers connected to a battery pack of sorts, though I don't really care for this to have been put in...maybe as your training saber. God I hope you're wrong Fardragon about Nar Shadaa, I'd rather have a brand new city world than that place. Oh well I guess I'll find out in February lol.
-
God only knows why RotJ was made the way it was. I suspect gargatuan proportions of hallucigenics and care bear reruns with just a hint of budgetary and cgi restrictions. Endor was originally going to be Kashyyyk. The Ewoks were originally going to be Wookies enslaved by the Empire, to which Han and Chewie help make a revolt. Then again, Luke and Vader were also originally going to duel before Palpatine's throne in his Couscant palace and not the (Cheapo couldn't come up with something else original so we reuse the superweapon from Ep4) Death Star part deux. I weep to think of the movie Jedi could have been. On Topic: I hope the city world is Coruscant (My fave SW planet), I'd like to see at least 1 movie world in this game. I hope it's not Nar Shadaa, I hate that planet... I liked KotOR's Korriban very much, while I hear it doesn't look like the comic's Korriban or JA's version which is said to be quite accurate, I'm actully glad it was different since I don't hold the comics or novels to be the final word on anything anyways. I only wished I could have visited more temples, ruins and great castle or palace-like Sith structures than just the Academy and tombs. If they put something like that I'd like it very much.
