  1. Personally I like a few things about the EU, very few. Some characters such as Thrawn, the Solo children; places like Korriban, Ossus; or whole stories like Shadows of the Empire (Both game and novel versions) and Tales of the Jedi are for the most part to my liking. However the vast majority of the rest of the EU, in particular most post-RotJ stuff I truly hate. Games are fine because I don't see them as anything more than that but the novels and comics to me ruin a lot of what I like about SW.
  2. Hmm, according to this interview both KotOR versions are will be exactly the same...but weren't we already told that the PC version would have additional content as the first game did when X-Box KotOR 2 was moved up to December? I hope that's a mistake, because I was counting on seeing at least a little extra something when I get KotOR 2 in February...
  3. Wow what a great variety of locales, if only the UN worked as well as the people here (In general terms at least) the planet would be a nicer place. I'm from San Juan, Puerto Rico.
  4. I have no idea if Revan used any of those specific forms, but I recall once a long time ago someone called Revan's fighting stance scorpion stance. Don't know where they go t the name or if it was even a true stance but I pressume they referred to the stance shown in the cutscenes in the fight against Bastila. I hope form 2 is true to what is supposed to be. Dooku was supposed to use a fencing style of fighting, but Dooku used 2 hands at times in his fight against Yoda; fencing is a one handed form. I'd love to be able to have one handed fencing ingame.
  5. Well since Atris has never been officially confirmed to be WHC it doesn't mean that WHC won't be in the party, though I must admit that I kinda like the idea of WHC not being a party member but playing an important role ingame, if that is Atris to begin with. Jedi Master D Murda: I once thought that Sion would be using MSG's clothing to hide his appearance but as it was stated he appears shirtless throughout the entire game I now don't believe this. For a time I also thought of the possibility of WHC and MSG being the same person, their confrontations in the artwork displaying a clash between two personalities of the same character. I don't believe that anymore either. Atris might be WHC or the Sith Lady or even a third npc we haven't seen yet. I don't think MSG is Atris or a female, the wallpaper illustrations clearly show a man's hands plus a dev had said MSG was a male, though I never saw this statement myself general consensus is that it was a true tidbit that slipped out. For the moment I'll continue to refer to MSG as Darth Nihilis since that's the best source of info for him for the moment. As for WHC maybe she's a party member, maybe not, maybe she's the Handmaiden with a Jedi Outfit...who knows. But if she is a different person than Handmaiden as is generally believed, I kinda hope WHC isn't a party member, would like to have some female npcs in the group with other hair colors than white, cause so far only Mira is really different and I'm a bit disappointed in that.
  6. Technically it was said that the PC and Kreia will have a relationship comparable to that of Obi-Wan and Anakin so the PC is an apprentice of Kreia in that regard. I am definately looking forward to seeing how this relationship will be developed as it never has been truly explored in a SW game before, at least in depth. It has also been confirmed that the PC will get an apprentice as well. I however am very disappointed by this. Becoming a mentor requires a lot of experience and years upon years of practice and growth. I find it completely unrealistic that a character who was virtually a padawan when he/she was cut off from the Force now in just a matter of what: days, weeks that the game takes place in supposedly becomes so knowledgeable and mature that they can effectively teach an apprentice. For me this ruins the perfectly poised exploration of a mentor/student relationship by cutting it into a half baked tutorship so that the PC can get their own apprentice. I so wished this game would have explored the mentor/student thing like ESB portrayed Yoda and Luke instead of just hinting a little of that then suddenly the PC becomes Qui-Gon or some other mentor in such a short amount of time. Had this game taken place over the course of years then maybe but as it stands it is a huge disappointment for me. I know this is not the popular opinion so sorry about that, just the way I feel about it.
  7. Thank you to all the devs that took the time to answer our questions, suffered through our rants, and gave us just enough information to torture us into wanting more. But most of all a very special thanks to Akari, we're gonna miss you. Weekend Programmer has been my favorite topics of discussion on these boards and now until I wait for February to roll around this place will seem just a little bit emptier for me. Good luck on all your further proyects; as mentioned before, I hope to do it all over again in KotOR 3. Thanks again.
  8. Are you kidding? 3 White haired LS female Jedi...WHC, new girl and Kreia? Come on this white hair female thing's gone a little overboard, one was fine but 3....
  9. Really? Sion reminds me of the naked zombies from Resident Evil 1. I don't know what to make of Bao-Dur yet as with the vast majority of KotOR 2's cast I know virtually nothing about him. I didn't even know that it had been confirmed he was the Zabrak. Appearance wise I can say I like Zabraks and a LS Zabrak is a cool counterpart to Maul so for me that's a plus. The arm thing is not much my taste but doesn't really ruin the character for me either, so unless he's got a really bad back story and purpose in the game I'd say I'll probably like Bao-Dur very much.
  10. Ah this is just my opinion, but to me the concept of a "Dark Jedi" is a contradiction which I disagree with. As I understand it (Following the movies) the Jedi use the Force to seek knowledge about life and the universe, and "worship" the LS in a religious-like way. The Jedi don't study the DS, in fact they do everything to avoid even exposure to emotions that they consider could lead down the dark path. The Sith meanwhile study the DS in the same way the Jedi study the LS. They are the ying-yang of the SW universe. When a Jedi "falls" they are corrupted by the lure of the DS and they explore this aspect of it which comes from Sith teachings. All Jedi who have fallen in the movies are Sith, even those that where Jedi before. Some argue that the only way to be a Sith is to be taught by a Sith, but the ancient Jedi who defied their Masters and studied the Sith teachings did this by themselves, no Sith Master to teach them. When the Jedi goes bad to me they become Sith because they explore the nature of the Force the Sith explores. Also if a Sith were to become redeemed would you call them a "Light Sith", I don't think so. I really hate the term Dark Jedi, I think it's a huge contradiction. Even in the game those called Dark Jedi where just Sith, heck those guys where never Jedi to begin with as they never became part of the Order, unless every single one was a former Jedi that followed Revan to the Mandalorian Wars and I doubt that. I know many will disagree with how I see it (He, he Nur ) and that's ok, this is just my pov. But that's how I always got it and I like the Sith anyway. No one seems to get tired of the Empire, why do people think the Sith should be replaced I think they're way cooler villains than the Empire? But whatever, my pov doesn't make a difference anyway. If the devs put a bunch of DS using lightsaber wielding villains and calls them Jedi I'll still be interested very much in the game, I'll cringe every time I hear them called that just like in KotOR 2, but I'm fine with it...as long as there's no Vong I'm happy...
  11. I'm definately reinstalling KotOR at one point, especially because of some darn fine mods I want to try. While waiting for KotOR 2 I'll also play a mixed bag of genres: RTS: Battle for Middle Earth (Should it be released before Feb) RPG: Vampire Bloodlines FPS: Trilogy of USMC games from 3 different eras: Medal of Honor Pacific Assault (WW2), Men of Valor (Vietnam), First to Fight (Modern); and maybe Starship Troopers (If it's worth getting).
  12. KoToRfReAk, this alone makes it NOT a sequel. True sequels are not independent stories and characters from before, the whole point of a sequel is that it is a continuation of what you saw in the first one. Sequels have either the continuation of the same story or a new story with the same characters as before. The new feats, equipment and powers are elements of an expansion. However I do agree with you that this is not an expansion and it is a new game. But it is not a sequel; aside the title, the Ebon Hawk, a couple of characters and some cameos it has nothing to do with the first one. This is a spinoff; same universe, same timeline, different characters, different story.
  13. My hope is that KotOR 2 is better than the original which I consider no small feat. To me that's a lot to ask for since I think KotOR was the best SW game ever made. My expectation though is that the game be as good as the original. This is also a hard task to accomplish but from what I've seen so far (Sion's appearance aside) I am quite confident that it will reach at least my expectation if not my hope.
  14. The definition of a sequel entails a continuation of the story and journey of the characters that appeared in the preceding or original game. KotOR 2 does not do this thus it is not a true sequel. This is a sequel in name and that it is in the same era. For this to have been a sequel it would be necessary to have one of two elements: 1) The original story was unresolved after the end of pt1 and the protagonists were killed so new protagonists take their place trying to finish what they began. 2) The original story was resolved but the original characters return on a new adventure thus continuing to follow their journeys. KotOR 2 does not have either of those two elements, so I don't see it as a sequel. Like I said before though, KotOR 2 has all the elements of a spin-off. It is set during the same time period, it has some originals returning to join the group and some in cameos passing the torch from the first group to the new one, the story is related to the original one though it isn't the same. KotOR 2 is not an expansion and it is not a sequel, it's a spin-off from the original.
  15. Those are from the preview and unfinished builds of the game. as Stargate posted those were among the first pics from KotOR released. Some of those are even on the box. I was really disappointed when I learned you weren't going to duel Sith in Taris, I was really looking forward to that.
  16. I'm pretty certain I've seen said that at least one HK model will be in the group. In one article it said something like party members including T3-M4 and a droid that suspiciously resembles a certain homicidal droid or something like that. I don't know why but I got the impression after one article that HK-50 might be an enemy or even a traitor to the party, I forgot where I read what made me think of this, but perhaps HK-50 is a party member for a time and then is replaced by HK-47. The only thing I do know is there will be multiple HK units ingame and at least one will be a party member for an undetermined amount of time. I'm not sure about the mags, from what I've heard HK-50 looks different to HK-47 in color so it would be hard to mistake one for the other. It could have been an error on part of one of the mags, a typo, or the second mag played a different part of the game where the other HK unit was the party member. I'm certain a great deal will be given away by Christmas so you might know by then, whether you are one of the ones that buys it for X-Box or happen to catch spoilers from them.
  17. In one of the latest previews it was stated that HK droids would be back with a vengeance in TSL, meaning we'll see more than one. There will probably be HK-47 and HK-50 in the party at some points and maybe other HK models as opponents hunting you for one or multiple Sith Lords.
  18. In a way I see KotOR 2 as a story of its own. As I understand the definition of a sequel, it is continuing the story established that was established previously. Come to think of it I think KotOR 2 fits best for me as a spin-off. It is the same setting and timeline as the original (Few years after) and it includes cameos and other characters from the original in larger roles. However it is not the same story, KotOR was Revan's story in the backdrop of Malak's war, that story ended and those characters' point of view is not the focus of this game. Had Revan and co been the focus of this story then yes it would have been a sequel but since the protagonists of the original are not the protagonists here then I do not see this as a sequel. KotOR 2 does have all the elements of a spin-off. There are some original characters here joining the new group, it's using the same universe and a timeframe equivalent to the lifetime of the originals, it's focus is a different story, other original characters appear in cameos to sort of pass the baton to the new group as we find out their fates. So in my opinion KotOR 2 is not a sequel it's a spin-off (Something like the difference between the Star Trek shows whose timelines where contemporary with each other).
  19. On the original question: I kinda don't understand how the PC fills in the gaps of the original game. I can understand the PC might know Revan as stated he/she followed Revan in the Mandalorian Wars but they were oucast after that. The PC never took part of the Sith War with Malak so how the heck does the PC know what Revan chose to do with the Star Forge and all the other decisions regarding the end of KotOR 1. I certainly hope that's just left up in the air without an explanation. However in the latest preview posted, it said that the PC is found floating inside the damaged Ebon Hawk then brought to Peragus (Sp?) where he/she wakes up after everyone there is suddenly killed. If that's true it's quite possible the PC had met with Revan at some point before the game begins and was actually working with him/her... Who knows?
  20. Sorry Exar, but to me Qui-Gon was 3 times the Jedi Obi-Wan was (Though I like the charcater of Obi also). He had that serene demeanor, you might not have found wisdom in the character but I sure did when he talked about the living Force and how he knows Jedi are not indestructible. But he also takes initiative and does what he feels is right following his instincts, despite that putting him at odds with the Council a lot. I found him a way better mentor than Obi in Ep4, though naturally no one is better mentor than Yoda. Still Qui-Gon is definately my favorite. Just my opinion of course.
  21. I loved the character of Qui-Gon Jinn. While he did things on his own terms and defied the Council repeatedly, he also had this demeanor of great wisdom and knowledge (Two different things). He also seemed to me as the exemplary Jedi mentor, I hated he didn't last the entire prequel trilogy. He and Maul were my favorite things from Ep1.
  22. Thanks for the link Craftsman! While there wasn't any completely new info than before there were some things I did find interesting if everything stated was accurate (I only mention accuracy because there were some errors I noted such as Peragus being called a planet when it's the mining asteroid and Dxun being called also a twin planet to Onderon when it's the latter's moon). According to this it confirms the speculation that there are 3 Sith Lords, though we still don't know if the 3 have their own disciples for a total of 6 Darths. There will be many HK Assassination droids as they are described to be back with a vengeance. And PC will get exclusive content unavailable to X-Box initially, this I hadn't heard before, cool!
  23. I am so pretending I did not see this...really...really...really hard.
  24. What he said ^
  25. Baneblade thought she was a blonde, the lighting in the pic he provided makes the hair look yellow but it is the same head.
