  1. Every time I see someone post their experience in NW I want to replay the game again.. I guess it's time to go play as desert samurai while I wait for PoE.
  2. To be honest having a single loyalty/betrayal interaction in the game would be more than enough for me. I just hope we will see companions commenting on situations and decisions we make.
  3. It seems that devs themselves have no idea how long (time wise) the game is. I expect over 100 hours of playtime for the first playthrough.
  4. I really like the concept of bounty hunting and I will most definitely be doing that a lot. I remember in NWN2:OC I had a fence since I joined the shadow thieves and he gave me lots of side quests related to thieving, espionage and cloak and dagger activities. Rooting out spies and working behind Axle's back was by far the most memorable and interesting activities in the stronghold for me. I really hope that PoE will have this available too as I love intrigue, mystery, secrecy and espionage. I can already see myself sinking in hours of playtime just for those activities.
  5. I'm kinda bumed out by the lack of dialog lines for PC voices. I really enjoyed all the recorded lines available in NWN2 (expecially voice commands) and IWD for PC characters. I choose the voice depending on the character I wish to roleplay as and if no voices match my role-play preference I simply chose silence. I love battle and death cries during combat a lot and I think they add to the RP experience. In beta videos I noticed that "Female (Noble)" voice very closely resembles one of the VO available in NWN and IWD which was my favorite, so I'll probably end up using that one. Ofcourse I only heard like 4 words, but it's still better than complete silence. Maybe they will expand on that once the game is out.
  6. I don't like to be categorized as "good" or "evil" either, but the Lawful - Chaotic arc is pretty fair as it made sense most of the time. Also as I play rogues in every single RPG game I tend to role-play as someone that will not just go about helping every single poor soul out there - I'm a poor soul too, I need money and I want to steal everything. I like to play as a compulsive liar and kleptomaniac but not without reason, so if game has great dialog options that route can bring unexpected results and I simply can't imagine thief, liar and scoundrel as simply "good" or "evil". So I end up being neutral
  7. Did you go the good guy route or the bad guy? I thought the devs did a great job with the evil options. In some ways, it was actually better crafted than the good guy options, although that's hard to judge since they were all so good. I always play the good guy, of course, but the *truly* evil ending in particular was absolutely stunning and grim. ...I don't know what the bad guy route you're talking about is. Perhaps I should replay... It seems there are more than two endings and the "epilogue sliders" also differ greatly depending on the alignment. At least that's what wiki says.
  8. I don't really know how to categorize the route I took since I played as a chaotic neutral character and I was mostly out for myself and my team - Gann and Safiya. So I helped them - killed the hags, rival red wizards and spared the founder (I mean, ye the curse and all, but I hold no grudge, and I can't do this to my main girl). I avoided needless killing (being evil just for the sake of being evil), but if someone asked for a fight I was the first to start stabbing . I also tried to role-play as follower of Leira - so I lied and bluffed at every occasion with no regards to consequences. I loved the game because it had so many neutral options for me as I barely got any G/E alignment shifts. I ended up at 0/48 and I bet I could count all the shift cases on my fingers. In the end I chose to simply take back my soul - I don't care about the crusade. Killed Kaelyn and spared Akachi. Sliders said that Gann and Safiya traveled with me until Safiya returned to take over the Academy. I also reunited with Khelgar and Neeshka and rest of my story is yet to be told. I was very satisfied with everything, really great role-playing experience. If Pillars of Eternity will be anything like this I will be very happy.
  9. I only managed to play through the game once, while I played through origins and 2nd many times. I created many characters, but the most I played through was resolving Mage/Templar conflict. After that I just can't play. There are branching paths, but you do not actually see the resolutions yourself and you can pretty much guess the outcomes. I'll probably revisit the game only when some major DLC comes out.
  10. Just finished Mask of the Betrayer. I can't believe I delayed the playthrough for so long. It was unbelievably good. Now I need a break from RPGs so I come in fresh for Pillars of Eternity. Will probably play some random games, maybe The Wolf Among Us.
  11. I don't know about this. So far Obsidian did a great job to not make me feel like a therapist of my team in their games. I'm currently playing through NWN2:MotB and if anything it feels like my companions are the ones that are striving to help me. They certainly know a lot more about what is happening and I think Obsidian did an extremely good job with that game. Sure, there are companion quests where you help them in Obsidian games, however for me they do not even come close to the level of Bioware side quests. Maybe I'm the only one that feels this way, however I love the way Obsidian handles companions and their interactions, so I have faith in them to deliver in that regard in PoE.
  12. Not being offensive is a very daunting task these days. Some seem to forget that everyone has feelings. I for one do not understand how bashing writers for writing a character of particular sexuality personality is not offensive in itself.
  13. I can see that. Its pretty much THE town in the game, and, as such, fairly large as maps/areas go relative to the rest of the game. I felt that it slowed the pace of the game down by being introduced so early. But being the only real hub of the game it doesn't really offer that much content. You can skim through everything in probably less than an hour if you explore, two at best. There is really nothing to do in that town other than steal paintings and golden plates, then selling them to the poor sods in the market (that is literally the most time consuming thing in the city)
  14. I'm not sure what consensus is on F:NW but I personally enjoyed it a lot more than Fallout3. Both games had great moments, but as a whole F:NW felt a lot more real for me. I piled endless hours into that game and I still haven't even played through most of the DLC content (I did finish OWB - had tons of fun). However I only played through Fallout3 once and I don't ever plan to play through it again. If Fallout4 will be indeed closer to Fallout3 I don't really see myself spending a lot of time playing it, which is a shame.
  15. I believe you can check out classes and their abilities in the wiki page Obviously mages will have tons of spells to chose from and they are not listed, but non-caster classes have their abilities listed there. I'm not sure if it is a complete list, but you can get a general idea of what to expect. It looks like most non-caster classes have the same amount of abilities.
  16. The two PCs are there to facilitate co-op play. It is a little wonky if you are just gonna play solo, which probably most people do. I would urge you to give it another chance. I thought it was a fantastic game. Love the combat. Well the combat can only hold a game for so long until it becomes tiresome. The roleplay aspect of the game is almost non-existent. Sure, you get few branching dialog trees, but the dialog itself is so mundane and unimaginative that after 5 or so hours I just started reading in between words to get the general sense of conversation and just opt to start combat asap. The main story is bland and side content is as generic as it can get. Companions have few dialog lines, but they are so one-dimensional it is hard to take them serious, since after first conversation you can pretty much guess what they are going to talk about. The co-op aspect of the game is where it shines tho. I played it with a friend and we had tons of fun goofing around since the game engine itself is very solid and allows for great variety in overcoming obstacles. However playing the game alone was not fun at all, at least for me.
  17. In all RPGs I try to create unconventional builds. If I can I always try to avoid damage soaking characters and instead focus on damage dealers and crowd controllers. I find it a lot more fun to play if I don't let enemies to touch me, rather than enduring their punishment. I also prefer to use most interesting companions, rather than most combat capable ones. So I guess my power-five will be: * My character - witty, compulsive liar rogue * Very opinionated person, but not a goody two-shoes * Someone funny and charismatic * Someone that kills people for a living (bounty hunter, assassin, etc.) * Kleptomaniac Hopefully there will be at least one companion from my list!
  18. That... sounds like an interesting potential for a game concept/mechanic on its own. Only allow 1 character in your party to fight, whilst the rest is more of an entourage/escort group that you protect/defend. Hm. Escort Quest: The Game. One of the reasons why I play RPGs is companions, no way I'm leaving them out. I always feel the need to have them all with me at every turn so I can see how they react to situations and most of the games lets you take like 2 when you have a roster of 10+ companions. Ugh the frustration! I want to have influence with them all and to see all of their dialog! At least in PoE you can have a party of 6, the more the merrier I say.
  19. I would rather have my party members standing idle during combat, than miss out on potential dialog and banter :D
  20. Many people seem to play KotoR. I too have installed the 2nd one since I only played through it once. Downloaded bunch of mods and restored content so I guess it will be something different. Its just every time I remember Nar-Shaddaa I want to uninstall the game
  21. What I liked about first KotoR was that it allowed me to actually role play. I didn't care about light or dark side and the game allowed me to lie or avoid straight answer in all instances that required me to choose a side. I was out for revenge - to kill everyone that betrayed me, but I was not heartless. I would help those in need, but only if they were not complete beggars and I was expecting at least a small reward for my work. I would kill everyone that treatened me, my team or my goal outright without any hessitation, but I could never crush those that have no way of fighting back (impossible odds - plague victics in first planet). In the end - I destroyed Bastila and cut Maliks head off with no mercy. Thanks for the medal republic, see you in dark space. Ended up with neutral alignment. My favorite companions were HK and Binto. Good times.
  22. And how is the game for you? I tried it but it got boring real quick. Which mods would be those? I have been tempted to play through Skyrim, since I didn't finish any of the DLC content, but the game is too easy for my taste and I can't be bothered.
  23. I recommend looking up what MCA's preferred takes on writing romances would be. Not all romances need to be Bioware-style. I didn't say that they should. I personally am interested in a story and how characters react to events and your choices, but to each their own. Also I mentioned Bioware only because OP said s/he is a fan of their games.
