UK Muslims targeted for speaking out about terror
Walsingham replied to Walsingham's topic in Way Off-Topic
I don't think I have to realise that mideast dynamics are due to Israel. I think YOU have to realise that they are down to 1000s year old political and social mores, such as 'izzat'. Zionist Israel is a blip on the history of the Mideast. I'm genuinely surprised you'd argue that the whole political and social trend of this region is due to it. -

Oh man, I have zero respect for people who have unprotected sex and then get 'accidentally' pregnant. Its so goddamn easy to avoid yet it still happens, it simply boggles my mind. With much sympathy for your position, I would suggest that perhaps you're just not being presented with exciting enough options to have sex.

UK Muslims targeted for speaking out about terror
Walsingham replied to Walsingham's topic in Way Off-Topic
Firstly, I don't believe that the dynamics of the Mideast would have lead to a peaceful multi-ethnic state in Palestine any more than it has anywhere else in the region. Secondly, what has this got to do with speaking out against terror and then being targeted for murder? I guess the point is that modern terror tactics could polarise even your multi-ethnic state if it chose to. Kill all the moderates, provoke economic problems by destroying investor confidence. Bing bang bosh. Problem state. I don't know if you'd noticed, Rosti. But dissident Republicans are RIGHT NOW attempting to derail NOrthern Ireland's peace process. I hope you're right, because otherwise the whole place is going back down the toilet. All to satisfy the 'justice' that WoD is keen on. -
So what's the release date now?
Walsingham replied to Halsy's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
LOL Yeah, I understand impatience. But we're all long time gamers, and we've all gotten hyped up for a game we thought would be great, only to see it littered by Bugs, lack of polish, lack of wholeness, rushed endings etc. And then we learn later that the reason for all the above is because it had to be pushed it out the door prematurely to satisfy a publisher's quarterly projections or schedules. The end result, of course is that we ended up getting a game that screamed: Squandered Potential here! ie. could have been great but ended up being crap. Why? Because it was rushed to the consumer to make a quick buck. Me personally, I'm interested in seeing the results of a 2-year+ Dev cycle for a 2d isometric game that gets released only when its creators believe its ready. And you all should be thinking the same way. I'm not sure it's entirely fair to blame the publishers. They have very clear needs: release on time, sell the projected amount to the projected people in the projected time. Unless the publisher jumps the release date forward then it either means the devs weren't up to the job, or the design was too ambitious in the first place. However, as you say, I think kickstarter (and others) are awesome because they simply say 'deliver the designed features'. Hard to beat it. -
Are guns still in?

Rad? I remember using that word, like in 1986. Like? I remember using that word in the '90s. For real. -

And my point about justice in a case of nations? ... -
Good point. I guess it would be advantageous to be able to do so, or to feed into a larger screen.

Chaps, I'm considering doing a big chunk of work 'on the road', and consequently I'm thinking about having a laptop. Requirements at end. I need your help refining those requirements, and suggesting possible solutions. Implicit in being this rigorous is that I don't wnat to overspend, although I can justify spending whatever I need to meet my core requirements. Novel solutions would be fun, but would probably kick up the cost. ~~ Size: No minimum size, maximum size 24" screen Weight: 2kg [remember my busted back?] + 1kg peripherals Battery life: 4 hours (longest expected transit time) use Software: - Must be capable of running DVD video from external drive - Must be capable of running MP3/4 type music and video - Must be capable of running MS Word/Excel or compatible equivalents Games: Principle requirement is for strategy games. Some help needed refining this requirement. Content to play games up to - for the sake of argument - Company of Heroes 1; Left 4 Dead 2; with minimal graphics options. Graphics: As above. Anticipate requirement for dedicated GPU, but not obligatory. Connectivity: - Must be capable of accessing secure wireless. No requirement for Bluetooth or other connectivity types. - Must be capable of interfacing with trackball type mouse; anticipate USB, but not obligatory

Petition to Ubisoft !

That or they're trolling the ESRB. EDIT: You guys have to read that link. It's hilarious. -
If I were also hammered - with respect to your size and strength - I would feel obliged to express my opinion by luring you into a large and elaborate mechanical trap. Like some ghastly dancing 1990s bear.

Alan, I think the point FSOCC is making, quite sensibly, is that your question about monetization is moot if there is no appeals process. There is no adjudication, according to him. Just accusation. I for one like my witch hunts old skool.

Labeling today's white South Africans as "colonists" makes you come across as a racist. Just say'n. Thanks for that but I think this was a misuse of the word due to translation and the fact that English isn't Oby's first language Oh absolutely. It's not like there are any more obvious words available, like citizen. Perhaps I should go around referring to Asians living in England for four generations as colonists. Probably best not to. People would think I was an appalling bastard.

But he was simply repeating gestures. Surely it's irrelevant what they were. The speakers weren't just repeating the same statements so how could they possibly be appropriate?

There's also the point that we are finding more and more energy efficient means of using fuels. The LED lightbulbs I use are, what, ten times as efficient as the ones we had when I was a kid? The cars are also becoming more efficient, and so on. I cannot possibly believe that there will be some sort of sudden crash in the supply of energy.

UK Muslims targeted for speaking out about terror
Walsingham replied to Walsingham's topic in Way Off-Topic
A new thought occurs to me. If Rosti and WoD will excuse my saying so, aren't they sick with the same illness that caused BOTH Christian and Palestinian and Jewish troubles? The question of who is right or wrong implies the obligation to deliver restitution of those wrongs. In personal affairs, and in a courtroom I am fiercely keen on justice. But across teeming millions of varying complicity, and in the court of speculation, how can there be any justice? Perhaps this lay at the heart of why Mandela forgave the people who called themselves his enemies. Were they all his enemies? Did he oppose every one of them? What would revenge achieve? It would be mere gambling. With the very real possibility that he would become as bad as the worst of them by harming innocents. Just so, what is the point of asking if a Christian acting here yesterday justifies a Christian being killed over there tomorrow? If a home taken in blood was taken before? It's all bollocks. An impossible assessment. The only way to act on these issues to demand no fresh atrocities today. This is a new thought to me. -
I also hate your taste in music when you're hammered.

I wonder if that was pulled from the December issue of the Brittish Medical Journal? My favourite was; "Parachute use to prevent death and major trauma related to gravitational challenge: systematic review of randomised controlled trials" I think the purpose is to challenge the drinks all the time 'message' of Bond. Although personally I'm more concerned about his pushing golf on people. They should study Philip Marlowe.

A wonderfully apropos article about how politicians - to avoid a temporary hit to their popularity - pay terrorist ransoms. These ransom payment fuel a kidnap industry that guarantees more kidnaps and more ransoms. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-25359636 This is the level of thinking we're talking here, gentlemen.

I should add that when I said cats earlier I meant house cats. One reason to bring a child into this world is that there is a non-zero probability that they will tickle a leopard's soft underbelly.

I think the key is to remember that right now, in some cultures they have completely naked breasts ambling about and no-one cares. To a degree it's about real - or in this case imagined - intimacy. Is a foot sexy? Not sure. Is the inside of a wrist? A rib? It all depends on the associations, I think.
