  1. Yes, because that's how all great militaries train now. They shrink their troops to miniscule size and set them loose. <_<
  2. http://www.theregister.co.uk/2006/07/19/hu...angtan_mystery/ Google Earth shows a massive (900m) outdoor model of a landscape near a Chinese military base. I can't imagine what they need it for. Can you?
  3. Busting stuff loose to random folks online can be easier than people you know. But all the same I have come across people saying this sort of thing just for giggles before. So it's not like you folks should be hard on people who aren't believing. Can't really say anything more supportive than everyone else, given that I don't know you. So condolences. I find it best to deal with this sort of thing by getting nicely steamed and then smashing a bunch of wood with your fists. Of course I also have a nice collection of knuckle scars, and oncoming arthritis from doing this, so maybe it isn't very clever.
  4. I blame Al Gore. We all know Mother Nature is just attention seeking. Like a Southern dowager in a Faulkner novel.
  5. As usual, my learned colleague (meaning Meta) has summed it up better than I.
  6. Very well, Volo. I salute your reckless courage, sir! :D I assume you know the poem 'The Last Hero' by G.K. Chesterton?
  7. Capital idea. *searches for wizened eldster emoticon*
  8. Volo, a friend of mine is currently working with the Indian Navy, and is STILL cleaning up after the Tsunami. I rather think you should reconsider your 'bring it on' type behaviour. Wouldn't want you to get struck by swarms of fire ants, now would we?
  9. I really genuinely don't understand what you thought was so forgettable about Serenity, especially given Hades apt reminder concerning so many recent sci-fi films with pod all in their favour. You had a raft of characters. Some with a few twists and curves. You had plenty of chases, explosions, and fights involving weapons from sword to lasers. You had screaming wild barbarians. You had a surprisingly interesting bad guy who believed he was good. Indeed who some would still say was good. You had some first class special effects. A story that was easy to follow, but had a couple of minor twists. So we can debate first place for film of 2005, but completely forgettable? :D
  10. c). While roundly cursing all cab-drivers.
  11. Aa! So THAT's where Dan Abnett has been sloping off to, filthy stop-out. Give us him back, damn your eyes. We need him to write Gaunt's Ghosts.
  12. Gromnir: couldn't disagree with you more. I've shown in person and lent out my copy of Serenity to more than 15 people, all of whom, geeks and otherwise loved the film. Four have gone on to buy it on DVD the next day. Yes it was not the series. But it was a great rollercoaster film. Indeed it has also got great critical reviews the last time I checked rottentomatoes. Not sure if I want to fork out cash fora DVD of people being geeks. Bearing in mind that in my opinion it was over geek-freakiness that drove away norms from the film.
  13. We ran outta rocks.
  14. I only dance with agirls as a form of test. I believe I may have already mentioned I am like unto a white rhino, set afire.
  15. Pah. You chaps should play Killer.
  16. Actually I assumed 'Diablo' was Hades' nickname for my mother...
  17. Couldn't you throw English and Irish up there as well? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I could, but only if I wanted to undermine my argument! :D
  18. Never knock Alaska. My favourite state for the people, and the mooses.
  19. Hades, mate, you could say the same thing about the English and the Welsh 700 years ago. Or the English and the Scots. Hell, England has been at war with France for almost its entire history. Things can change. As for terrorist/freedom fighters you all know my feelings on this point so I shan't rise to it.
  20. It is more dangerous because the internets doesn't seem real. We all know we say stuff online we wouldn't in RL. Either brave stuff or cowardly. Well I reckon people are probably worse online with gambling for similar reasons. I enjoy gambling, BTW. I love a good poker night amongst friends, and gamble with business. It's an integral part of ghuman behaviour. NOt just something which happens around a table.
  21. I do think that the Israeli govt is currently of the opinion that a peaceful route is too difficult. They would rather exist in a state of constant war, which they at least are quite good at. Quick not-thought-through question: If Israel gave the Palestinians a state would that mean they could bomb whoever and whatever they wanted under the normal rules of war?
  22. Are you certain this is what you meant to say? The US has never deployed troops to Israel so far as I'm aware. Possibly because there simply isn't room. People would have to get shoved out into the sea to make way for a single division.
  23. Personally I'm expecting Duke Nukem to be delivered by Jesus. In person.
  24. http://britains-smallwars.com/Palestine/index.htm We spend a lot of time in WoT discussing Israel/Palestine. I found these pages most interesting because they describe matters from the perspective of British troops just prior to independence. I do not pretend they are unbiased. They are most worthwhile for their insight into the attitudes of the 'peacekeepers', not historical fact.
