Knights of the New Republic
GhostofAnakin replied to Craftsman's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Actually, so far it's Bioware's "mistake". We haven't seen Obsidian's final product yet, so we can't make definite statements only based on their interviews about what they might or might not have said. -

If that's in response to my post, I was talking about this specific board, titled "Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords->General Discussion". Any topic that isn't about KOTOR 2 or loosely related, such as some Star Wars EU discussion, is moved to off topic. So for all intents and purposes, this IS a Star Wars board. Now as far as this topic and the fact that you think KOTNR would pose too many problems for developers in terms of not stepping on toes or not contradicting existing EU, I don't think that'd be the case as long as it is set in a far away distance that any discrepencies can be explained away due to "3000 years into the future..". -
Knights of the New Republic

That'd make for a pretty bad third installment if we're allowed to bring along our level 30 Jedi Master. Who would we fight? Once you reach a certain level, there's not much you can throw at the person, unless the entire game has you fighting against dozens of Sith Lords with no "minor" enemies. I just think the more games done surrounding the "Revan Saga", the more stale the ideas will become. -
Exactly. Which means it'll be out of the price range of a lot of people, and those who can afford it will likely just spend the extra couple of hundred to buy a PC.

Knights of the New Republic
GhostofAnakin replied to Craftsman's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
I meant the story revolving around the Revan/Malak war, and the Mandalore wars. I just don't see much else they can do with this specific story arc after TSL is released. Maybe if they moved it another 2000 years forward, but not if it's just another "5 years later, after Darth Sion was killed..." type thing. -
Atris = Female Sith Lord
GhostofAnakin replied to Fardragon's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
I don't mind this idea. The only problem is she's quite a high profile character to be "DS only" in terms of when she'll join your party. Some people who are already obsessed with her (like the Bastila craze) will be upset if they can't have her join them if they play a LS game. -

Star Wars forum, genius. What is everyone expected to post about? -
Knights of the New Republic

I'd personally welcome such a game. I think the KOTOR series has run its course after TSL is released. There's not much more, atleast during the whole Mandalore wars/Revan vs. Malak era to do stories about. What I'd actually be interested in seeing is a game set in between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope. A RPG set during the birth of the Rebellion, where we (the PC) would be one of the brave young individuals who first opposed Palpatine and his Empire. I don't think it'd make much sense to have Vader or Palpatine show up (or any of the movie heroes), but rather just make up fictitious heroes and villains that are part of the conflict during this time period. It would also make those people happy that don't want to play as a Jedi, since the Jedi would be all but extinct by then (assuming the game was set after the Jedi Purge). -
And it'll probably cost almost as much as a bottom-of-the-line computer as well when first released.
-
I wouldn't be surprised. The PC version seems to have become an afterthought to Lucasarts so long as they have the XBox version ready for Christmas.
-
I don't think all PC users had the problem. I just happen to have a P.O.S. computer that hasn't been upgraded for like 2.5 years.

Race bonds....I never got any of those because I never won any swoop races. My game was too "stuttery" to actually win those damn things, other than the easy one on Taris that you had to win.
-
I wonder what got HL2 the high score. If I recall, Doom 3 also got a high score, and from all accounts, other than the graphics, it's nothing too spectacular.
-
Are we playing KOTOR or Barbie dress up? <_<
-
I believe the devs stated something about it putting too much of a strain on the engine.
-
I think it'll be similar to KOTOR in terms of what's available. Probably more bounty hunter missions, or assassin missions (if you decide to become a Sith).

Separate forum for spoilers?
GhostofAnakin replied to Astatine's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
The only way it might work is if they're dilligent in banning/suspending accounts that go out of their way to post spoilers even when it's not allowed. But typically, people that go out of their way to be idiots are the same that just sign up for an account to post once or twice, then don't care if they are banned. -
What if force powers were alignment-bound?
GhostofAnakin replied to Kaftan Barlast's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
I didn't say he used it, I said if he chose to, it wouldn't have been out of his ability to do so. But I'll admit I wasn't responding to the idea of the thread, but rather of the idea I thought it was about where if you chose to play one alignment, you could NOT use the opposite alignment's Force powers. -
I wouldn't mind seeing this one. I'm not sure this is a good method. I know the idea is to balance it so that Jedi or other Force users can't "dominate", but from a strictly Star Wars perspective, Force users are supposed to be able to dominate all other classes. For instance, "penalizing" the Emperor each time he used the Force wouldn't make much sense, since at his level, he should be able to pretty much kick any none Force user's butt without much trouble. It seems the PnP rules, in this regard, are the one that is flawed compared to how the Force and Force users should actually be represented. Maybe Bioware (and now Obsidian) are trying to adhere to a system where they follow more closely to the actual Star Wars universe (ie. movies, books, comics, etc.) rather than the seeming balance done in PnP. I'll agree with this part that the blasters seemed rather weak. Not necessarily in relation to lightsabers, but compared to the other melee weapons, blasters seemed vastly inferior. I'm pretty sure Obsidian said they'd improve this, and hopefully they will.
-
Actually, the XBox limited Bioware's use of any resources available to them. It's a little unfair to compare KOTOR to a game that was a PC-only (or made first for the PC), since the PC game will obviously be maximized for PC performance, not for XBox console performance.
-
Why would you want to read all about the game before you get a chance to play it?

There's a lot of items on Yavin Space Station that I wanted to buy, but never got around to it because I blew all my money on both lightsaber crystals, plus the barawagin gun.

Questions to Dev's, Take 4
GhostofAnakin replied to Hydrogen's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
I think the devs have stated this isn't possible, atleast not with the engine they're using. -
I noticed that as well. Either that, or Obsidian just expanded on areas that Bioware started but never included.
