  1. I haven't. I've only used arguments based on what we've been told about both characters through cutscenes/movie scenes and/or storylines as told to us by a narrator/different characters.
  2. Where do you get the idea that Malak was better than Dooku? Dooku was a Jedi MASTER. Malak, by all accounts, wasn't even a Jedi KNIGHT. He was a Padawan when he took off with Revan to the unknowns. As for the "Anakin lost his hand", you can't compare that and say that's proof because NO one lost their hand in KOTOR. It wasn't designed to allow dismemberment. Both got defeated, and trying to deduct points for lost limbs or whatnot is just semantics. Anakin lost to a Jedi Master, Bastila lost to a Padawan who decided to call himself a Sith Lord.
  3. Anakin took on all the geonosians on his own, on their own "turf". He also had to contend with a mass of machinery that put him at a disadvantage, since the geonosians could fly and didn't have to rely on standing on those conveyer belts. He lost to Dooku, who was already an established Jedi Master, after letting his own overconfidence get the better of him. That wasn't my point at all. My point was that IN-GAME aspects (ie. where YOU, the PC controlled the fighting) can't be taken in to account because our ability as gamers, not the skill of the character, determined if we won or lost the battles. Cutscenes and storyline, on the other hand, show what happens regardless of the ability of the gamer. As was Anakin when he lost to Dooku. Don't forget Anakin had just fought all those droids in the arena, as well as fight off those 3 beasts that were sent to execute him, Padme and Obi-wan. Dooku was completely rested, just standing and watching from the balcony. Anakin was just as tired, if not moreso, than Bastila was when she faced Malak.
  4. I hope it's not. I don't want to have spent all that time building him up and redeeming him (or making him the undisputed Sith Lord) only to have to crush him with my new character.
  5. One small thing to consider in regards to Bastila's "prowess" with the lightsaber: Don't forget that many felt KOTOR was too easy. Which means that a lot of the in game fighting where Bastila beat all those dark jedi and sith apprentices were exaggerated due to the ease by which the player controlling the party had. What's my point about this? Simple. You can't point to a fight (for instance, when you first confront the 3 Dark Jedi on the first Star Map planet) and say that "see, Bastila destroyed all three of those Dark Jedi all by herself" simply because it wasn't BASTILA'S skill that enabled that to happen, but the ease of the game. If you argue against that point, then you're admitting that Juhani is one of the greatest Jedi ever also since she used to defeat everyone in her path, too, when she was in my party. By that token, so did Mission and Carth, and neither of them are even Jedi. The truth is, we can only go by cutscenes and what has been told to us in the story about how good Bastila is with a lightsaber. And from that, we gather she's not much of a warrior. She lost her lightsaber and couldn't beat the Vulkars (who aren't Force users), and she lost in her duel with Malak. All in all, not exactly "proof" that she could come anywhere close to defeating Anakin.
  6. No thank you. It'd smack of rediculousness.
  7. Hahahahaha. Did anyone see the picture of his "girlfriend" he has linked on his site. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I heard that he, not George Lucas, actually wrote Star Wars.
  8. Oh God, please tell me you didn't just use Supershadow as "proof" of any argument.
  9. Not killed off, but just not really appearing. I'd just rather they have him stay on his mystery journey in the Unknowns.
  10. I wonder how much James Earl Jones would cost. Although it'd seem extremely disturbing to hear JEJ's voice with another character. It'd be like "Holy crap! Darth Sion is talking like Vader!"
  11. I hope they kill Bastila off in a cutscene where she's fighting an ewok just to see how Nur Ab Sal reacts.
  12. I think he's talking to me. Although that's quite a weird thing to do, post in an entirely different thread just to get me to read something he wrote in another thread. Mental issues much?
  13. I have no clue what you said because of the spelling and grammar butchering. I'm not sure why you couldn't understand what I stated. I will summarize for you for sake of ease. -I believe a non-Jedi RPG would be an interesting idea and I would play it. -However, a problem I see in terms of selling to some RPG fans is the lack of "magic" involved I don't know how you couldn't grasp those two ideas.
  14. Uh? I think you miss the entire point of a non-Jedi RPG. You wouldn't be up against guys with lightsabers. You'd be up against non-Jedi enemies. There's a lot more fighting going on in the SW universe than just between Force users. All the military campaigns and such occur without Force abilities. Heck, most of the Rebellion versus the Empire was non-Force users versus non-Force users. I think the game would be a success with those people who enjoy a good RPG set in a Star Wars setting. The only people it won't appeal to are these kids that can't play any game where they're not some unstoppable god with superpowers.
  15. I think the one key aspect that would be the most difficult about making a non-Jedi based RPG is the whole "magical" aspect of it. Most RPGs seem to have magic (or in the case of SW, the Force) abilities for the players to select from. So for a lot of people who are familiar with these, it might take an adjustment to deal with the fact there isn't an option for "magic". Fallout's system would probably work best for a non-Jedi game, where magic doesn't play a part in the combat system.
  16. You're from North Bay. 'Nuff said.
  17. How did it possibly take you 65 hours to beat? Even when I sat down and played hand after hand of pazaak and talked to every single person I could possibly talk to, the most it ever took was about 35 hours. That included all sidequests, exploring all areas, and playing pazaak with most of the pazaak players.
  18. I'd be up for that idea. I've never had a problem with a potential non-Jedi character as the "star". I just never thought KOTOR was the right fit for that. But that's another topic and has been discussed. But I think that with regards to a KOTNR game, I'd want it to be similar to KOTOR in that it's situated quite a few 1000 years after the events of RotJ. I don't want it to be RIGHT after the NJO series or anything. I want it to be like KOTOR where if names like Luke Skywalker or Han Solo are mentioned, it's about someone telling your character about the history of these guys.
  19. I'm not sure why this guy hasn't been banned yet. Every single one of his posts have been either a)to start a flame war or b)to post something rediculous. I suggest he visit the Lucasarts forums. They're more his intelligence level.
  20. I'm not really sure how more KOTOR-style games would really affect you getting your wish for more "twitch" games. It's not as if Obsidian or Bioware would make a FPS or something if they weren't making RPGs. So whether or not another game in the KOTOR or KOTNR series were to be made, it'd have no effect on what you want.
  21. Not one of Zahn's better works. The ending, IMO, is a bit....unsatisfying. Basically, it seemed as if he wrote it to set up his upcoming "Outbound Flight" duology, rather than writing a story for the single book.
  22. Seriously? I kind of thought Cunningham didn't really grasp the SW universe or characters she used. It seemed more like she was writing a "young adult" fantasy novel than a Star Wars novel. I also didn't think it portrayed Jaina Solo falling to the DS properly. Instead, it made her just seem like a bitchy little spoiled brat.
  23. It's a good place to start, but the only problem is you'll be spoiled and expect the rest of the books to be as good. But aside from a few, they won't be. Some will be just outright horrible in comparison. Stay away from the Crystal Star and the "Callista" trilogy if you can.
  24. Judging from the title of the upcoming trilogy, "Dark Nest", I'm a little worried myself. It appears it'll have something to do with the antagonist being some kind of "insect-like" or "bird-like" species.
  25. I seem to be one of the few people who actually enjoyed the series (in general, not every book). My advice is that if you are going to read the series, read ALL the books so you get the entire story, rather than missing out on minor plot points. If you want the bare minimum, read Vector Prime (the first book), the Stackpole duology, Traitor, Star by Star, the Allston duology, the Force Heretic series (although not very good, they provide much needed background info to set up the final book), and The Unifying Force.
