I think this is the least Lucasarts can do to make up for the release date fiasco. What's a couple free copies as opposed to ignoring their fans?

Various Suggestions!!!
GhostofAnakin replied to Lord Darc Line's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Um? I was trying to reply to your post with neither malace nor attitude. If you can't take constructive comments about your posts, don't bother posting them. What you described (and you even used Jedi Academy as the example of what the controls SHOULD be like) isn't what this game will ever be. -
It makes more sense than having a few dozen lightsabers floating around. When Obi-Wan defeated Darth Maul, did he pick up his lightsaber? No. When Vader defeated Obi-Wan, did you see him pick up Obi-wan's? No. Besides, in terms of item accumulation, I find it more "realistic" that only tough enemies (ie. end bosses, sub-bosses) should have lightsabers that can be acquired. The minions should just have stuff like credits or lightsaber crystals or robes.
-
Or make lightsabers non-sale items. The fact that in "real" Star Wars, you can't purchase lightsabers from a merchant, it made it rather funny to be able to gain credits by selling off your excess lightsaber stash. But overall, less lightsabers available would be the best option. At MAXIMUM, there should be enough lightsabers throughout the game where each of your Jedi in your party can do the double-handed thing. No more than that. So, if you take KOTOR's party as an example, there should have been no more than 8 lightsabers TOTAL in the game, with Revan, Bastila, Juhani and Jolee being the party Jedi.
-
The only thing I'd change is to limit the number of lightsabers available throughout the game. In KOTOR, I felt there were too many lightsabers you could collect. At one time I had something like 10 or more lightsabers in my inventory, and that's NOT including the ones my character had equiped.

A Star Wars game HAS to have an ending, whether cheesey or not. If it didn't, it wouldn't have the Star Wars "feel" and thus you might as well have made a different game.

Various Suggestions!!!
GhostofAnakin replied to Lord Darc Line's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
So basically you want the lightsaber to cut off an enemy's head on the first strike, to make sure it's "realistic". That would make battles short and quite rediculous. This is a RPG, not a FPS. What you're asking for won't EVER be part of this game. If you want to be able to control your character's attacks and swings, stick to Jedi Academy. This isn't a twitch game. Multiple romance options. It's been discussed and I'm not sure what the devs have decided on, but this is the only one of your suggestions that I think would be a good addition. -
Knights of the New Republic
GhostofAnakin replied to Craftsman's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Next time you talk to him, tell him I'm a big fan of his stuff and look forward to reading his part in the upcoming 9-book post-NJO series. I hope that with Fergus mentioning it, and you commenting on it, that means that hopefully down the road, Obsidian might be doing a KOTNR. I think that'd be a lot of fun, and contrary to people saying it would limit the developers' freedom, with regards to adhering to SW EU continuity, I believe that's false if the game were set much the same way KOTOR is set, that being hundreds (or in KOTOR's case, thousands) of years away from the existing material. -
Because the original poster asked who Exar Kun was, so most responded with Kun's part in the trilogy. Leia and Han were in it too, but no one mentioned their part either because it didn't deal with the original poster's question about EU and Exar Kun.
-
I wouldn't doubt that. Although it'd be funny if this time it was the XBox they had to delay till atleast after Christmas. All those Xbox gamers anxiously waiting to open up their new Christmas presents and play TSL find a lump of coal instead. :D

I enjoyed I, Jedi as a whole, but I didn't enjoy that portion of the book told through Corran Horn's viewpoint. IMO, it made Luke Skywalker seem like a bumbling idiot who didn't have any common sense, and made it seem like Corran was ten times as intelligent as Luke. Just not the image I like for someone who, by all accounts, is supposed to be the man in the EU.

Are You Excited About KOTOR 2?
GhostofAnakin replied to Bastilla_Skywalker's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Yes and no. I'm looking forward to playing the game, but my enthusiasm has been dampened by the fact the PC version won't be out for a while. -
The problem is it's the same person(s) posting poll after poll, so even if they are deleted after a while, that person(s) will just post another inane poll when they log on. Hence the banning, or atleast warning of forumers who insist on continuing even after they've been asked to stop. For the most part, I've tried to avoid the threads (and will do so from now on), but that doesn't help the situation that actual interesting threads with new information or valuable discussion keep getting bumped to page 2 just so we are subjected to "what is your opinion of Bastila's cousin's neighbor's new sweater?".
-
I take it none of the moderators are going to respond to this suggestion? It's a shame, considering the TSL general forum has turned into a kindergarten chat room now with all those polls bumping any legitimate threads off the first page.
-
Topaz would be my first choice for banning since he's blatantly ignoring the consensus that the polls are getting out of hand and insists on posting more and more of them out of spite.

He is from a trillogy called the "jedi academy trilogy". The basic story is that Luke becomes a self proclaimed jedi master and starts a jedi academy on Yavin 4 where they had the base in ep 4. Turns out the temples were built by Kun and he is still haunting the place and trying to turn Lukes students to the dark side. Pretty cool stuff. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> If I remember right, he's way before that...way way before that. Like in the old tales of the old republic or something. BTW, that's not quite the basic plot of the trilogy. The plot is the refounding of the jedi order, which is the most important part of the series. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> His spirit resides in the Massassi temples on Yavin 4, where the Jedi Academy was (at that time). Luke's training new students and they are confronted with Exar Kun, who tries to lure the untrained students to the Dark Side. Yadda, yadda, they defeat Kun's spirt. Not exactly one of the better trilogies in the SW EU.

If they're going all out for a live orchestra (or whatever they're doing), I have confidence that it'll be quality, since if you're going to half-ass it, there's no point spending money on an orchestra to do it. I was satisfied with the KOTOR soundtrack, although some of the music, like the Manaan one, was rather lacking and didn't feel "epic" as most Star Wars music does.

Like was mentioned, the Ebon Hawk serves this function. Although I admit I have no clue what a keep is since I've never played BG (but will once I'm done with NWN).

Please make KOTOR 2 longer!
GhostofAnakin replied to SteveMcCool's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
I answered this question of yours in another thread. It's because it's a poll. So whenever someone votes it gets bumped up, even if they don't post an actual response. -
I HAVE A DREAM... eherm i mean suggestion
GhostofAnakin replied to KoToRfReAk's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Where did you hear that? Akari's kept it under wraps so far, so unless a magazine preview has spoiled the secret, I doubt it. -
It's not really censorship if the person broke an established board rule about spamming (which is exactly what making dozens of idiotic polls is). If that were the case, then every single message board on the internet that has either suspended or banned a poster is in big trouble, because it happens often.

This seems to be a problem in a lot of games where "outside" of something (house, ship, etc.) seems smaller than the "inside". I guess it might be a space issue or something.

my thoughts on Kotor and beyond......
GhostofAnakin replied to LightClaymore's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
The devs have stated that NPC alignment will shift according to how your PC acts. -
I'm in agreement with this. The KOTOR2 forum is starting to look like one of those "other" forums where 11-15 year old kids run rampant.

Do we need more moderators?
GhostofAnakin replied to Wise Jedi's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
We don't need more moderators. We just need less people making stupid polls. Is it really that difficult to act older than 12 years old? It seems so by the polls posted lately.
