I'm just not understanding why depictions of sexual acts is so much more detrimental to a child's psychological development than random and gruesome acts of violence. GTA and the media storm over Hot Coffee is the perfect example. Here's a game where you can blow a police officer's head off, run over old ladies in a car, and various other violent things yet the sole focus for these watchdog groups is because you can access something that allows for an explicit sexual scene to be shown? Where. Is. The. Logic.

Have you actually bought Jade Empire Soundtrack?
GhostofAnakin replied to Nur Ab Sal's topic in Computer and Console
No. I don't tend to listen to video game soundtracks for leisure on their own. -
Congrats Ender and Sarah. Now Jodo has someone around his age range on these forums.
-
I remember Ugly Kid Joe for his remake of "Cats in the Cradle".
-
Off topic slightly, but weren't you just crazy before? Now you're an angry kid?

What's the point?

I think from now on everyone on this forum should respond with "what's the point" to every single post of Hades, regardless what the post is about.

Proof please. I'd like to see actual documented proof that Troika kept trying to hardball publishers. So far I've seen conjecture and rumors and innuendo on your part. I'd also like to see proof that they were having financial difficulty. For someone who is always asking for proof from others you're quite the hypocrite in terms of rarely (note the word "rarely" before you throw a hissy fit and link me to one or two times out of 7000 that you provided proof) providing proof for things you post.
-
Good thing you got my point. Oh and about Troika, six months after BL was released? Try financial difficulty ONE month after. If you followed the Bloodlines forums you would have known that.
-
That wasn't my point. My point was you keep saying that because a Bio rep states something, then that is UNDISPUTABLE proof that statement is correct and not just a marketing ploy. Troika reps said they were very pleased with how well Bloodlines sold, so using your argument that is UNDISPUTABLE proof that their statement was true also and not just your typical marketing and PR statement. As it turns out it wasn't. Show me evidence from an impartial third party with statistical evidence that JE sold well and I'll believe it. Otherwise you can't take any statement by a Rep of a company as "fact" of anything. Unless of course you believe the Toronto Maple Leafs has a very, very good chance to win the Stanley Cup since their management says they do.
-
Troika happy with the sales of Bloodlines. That says it all.
-
Troika was telling the truth when they said they were pleased with how well Bloodlines sold. And since they said so and would have better knowledge than the general public, that makes it so because company employees or representatives of the company would NEVER say something to put the company in a good light even if it weren't factual. Never. Oh wait, Troika's now closed.

I was thrown off by that too. Hence my comment about Volourn having a groupie. I notice Hades_One had something similar too in the PNJ forum.

I gotta pick up some of those mods one of these days. Unfortunately I just finished a play through of BG2 and it'll be a while before I start a new game up again.

KotoR 3: Ideas and Suggestions
GhostofAnakin replied to Fionavar's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
I think you give Lucasarts much too much credit despite what they've shown they're capable of in the past. " -
Looks like Volourn has a groupie. But as someone said earlier (was it Sawyer?), you have to not only look at how many units a game sold, but compare that figure to how costly it was to make. I doubt PS:T cost as much to make as JE did, simply due to the extra cost JE had to have due to its graphics and voice acting. So even if JE and PS:T sold equal units, JE's not as big a success as PS:T from a business standpoint because of the cost to make it.

Does anyone have a link to Sammael's BG3 FAQ?
GhostofAnakin replied to Jumjalum's topic in Computer and Console
Never. Because it's pretty obvious that you have a specific view of what a "good" rpg is and unless a developer copies PS:T, BG or FO 100% EXACTLY like they were, then you don't seem inclined to change your view. Which is your choice, of course. But it's a rather narrow view of what a good game should be. -
He also said that Hutts can't be Force sensitive, and yet there was a Hutt Dark Jedi as well. Sometimes I wonder how these editors got their jobs when they actually approve these horrible story ideas and think "the consumers will love this".

Not quite. Lucas did have some input into the NJO series in a very limited capacity. For starters, the death of Anakin Solo was Lucas' choice. Lucasbooks initially wanted to have Jacen Solo be the one killed off, and Anakin Solo become the star of the series. But Lucas vetoed that decision since he felt with the Revenge of the Sith stuff and Clone Wars stuff that people would get confused if there were two Anakins (Solo and Skywalker), and thus Lucasbooks changed it around. Also, Lucas gave the OK for Chewie to be killed off. The publishers wanted a death of a major character to start off the series to give the series a quick jolt and Lucas didn't want his big three touched (Luke, Han, Leia), and since Chewie was like "everyone's pet dog" he figured Chewie's death would achieve the goals the editorial team wanted to reach. Lucas also was indirectly responsible for the NJO villains. He didn't come up with them, but he gave instructions that the antagonist was NOT allowed to be Sith or Dark Jedi or Darkside Force users. Thus Lucasbooks came up with the Yuuzhan Vong. Overall though, Nur's right in that Sue Rostoni and the editorial team are responsible for how the SW EU has turned out. Reading the Dark Nest's first book (The Joiner King), I'm noticing that Rostoni's views of what constitutes a good story idea are definitely different than mine.

Baldurs Gate observation/question
GhostofAnakin replied to GhostofAnakin's topic in Computer and Console
Wonderful. I downloaded TuTu and installed it and can't get it to work. I suck. -
Watching you and Hades go back and forth reminds me of the two old guys in Grumpy Old Men. :D

Baldurs Gate observation/question
GhostofAnakin replied to GhostofAnakin's topic in Computer and Console
That's the only way? No options in the gameplay menu that I'm missing? -
I don't know why I didn't seem to take notice of this, but in BG1 the enemies don't show "barely injured" or "injured" when you put the cursor over them. Is there any way to turn this on? I've gone from replaying BG2 (where they do show it) to BG1 and it's a bit annoying not being able to tell "how much further" I have to go until I kill an enemy.

In other words Gamespots list sucks. :D

Irenicus - BG2 and Kreia - TSL are my two favorites in terms of their overall a)in game abilities and b)fleshed out backstory/interesting backstory But the part of me that's a huge Vader fan also liked Malak "on paper". If they just cut down on his goofy laugh and cheesey regeneration of dead Jedi souls, he'd have been more a clone of Vader. Lacroix from VMBL was an interesting fellow too, but in terms of the "cool" factor I thought the Sherriff was better. Oh and gotta give props to Death's Hand and Sun Li (I think that's the one) from Jade Empire.
