Thanks. True. Though I must admit that I'd still like to set their appareances at some point, since I'd like for both Revan and the Exile to be playable without masks toward the end of K3. I didn't write this into my K3 plot, but if Revan is DS, the devs could make him succesful in his quest to assume the throne of the dark lord of the true Sith and be the new major villain of K3. The player then has to either overthrow (= kill) Revan or (DS choice) kill him and take the throne himself. That way you don't have to "undo" the choice of K1 plotwise. I would not worry so much about the DS/LS choice for the Exile, though, since it had hardly any impact on how K2 unfolded IMHO.

"Specifically, Moore told the Reporter he had toyed with the idea of a Galactica role-playing game "with Internet participation." " we expect that it would work more like star wars galaxies. didn't get to watch much of season 2, but ain't the humans on some sorta planet now, under cylon control? set the game on the planet and lets you choose human or cylon options. got potential for space fights and terrestrial fights... or you could choose more social interactions rather than simply fighting the rebels or being the rebels. regardless, "internet participation" in this day and age says mmorpg to Gromnir. HA! Good Fun! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yes, with that comment, I guess you might be right... A pity, though. I think BSG could let itself well to a strategic game similar to Carrier Command if anyone remembers that one (gosh that was a long time ago...)

KotoR 3: Ideas and Suggestions
Jediphile replied to Fionavar's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
All the speculation can be fun, but I'm going to be highly skeptical of any rumors, even if I should decide to read them all. Why? Because I'll just set up myself to be disappointed. I'll probably read the rumors, but I won't believe any of them, until someone makes an official statement that is confirmed by Lucasarts. -
Meaning... ?

Unless they go for a game in which you play through the mini-series and first season (or whatever), I think it should be more strategic. I mean, you command a single Battlestar with the job of defending the civilian ships. I'd like to see you assign patrols, planning attacks on Cylon bases, making recon missions and so forth on a huge starmap with a *lot* of uncharted space that must be explored as you continue your quest for finding Earth. The performance of the vipers would depend on the stats of the pilots flying them. You could take the place of Apollo or Starbuck during a battle and fly one yourself, but then you would have no operational control over the battle (as that falls to Adama or Tigh). Could be great. Heck, it should be great

KotoR 3: Ideas and Suggestions
Jediphile replied to Fionavar's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
This topic seemed to have died a bit... But then I just thought of one thing that I'd like to see in there, which goes to the point of why you cannot equip a lightsaber and a blaster at the same time. Why not? It would actually be very useful to have the ability to deflect bolts with your saber while making ranged attacks with your own blaster at the same time. I'd like to see that in K3, if it's ever made. Granted, I might not use it, since I always go for two lightsabers, but I'd like the option even so, and who knows - if it were there I might even use it. Right now I can't. -
That explains so much...

Revan's a actor? Seriously, we can make assumptions because of what we saw in K1. Sure, we may all have played differently, but no matter how we all played, the game's plot is pretty linear. Except for Kashyyyk, you don't even have any particularly obvious LS or DS choice to make in the overall plot development until you get to Rakata Prime. And even if we take those DS/LS options into considerations, Revan's choices are fairly decisive either way - you just don't get to take a "middle road" as a player. And that tells us something about Revan's character, be it for good or ill.
-
I don't think so - it's not Revan's style. Revan doesn't hide and lurk. No, he acts! His one defining characteristic has been how decisive and resolute he can be, even to his own peril. I really don't think Revan has just been "lurking about" for five years and counting - he just doesn't strike me as the type.

Yes, exactly what I want to see as well.

Violent video game law scotched by US judge

I think was even younger than that, less than 10, when (both) my parents first let me taste alcohol. I have scarcely turned into an alcoholic as a consequence. On the contrary, my parents have often commented how I never drink anything (which isn't true, but close enough). Yes, exactly. The point lies in "demystifying" things like alcohol or cigarettes. How many children have tried drinking or smoking precisely because their parents wouldn't let them try it? In my experience, it's better to do this at home, so that it at least happens under circumstances that the parents have control over... Because the children *will* drink and smoke sooner or later! It's in human nature to question why there are things we may not do (unless it is obvious why not, like killing other people or stealing from them). Heck, I got out and bought GTA San Andreas just to see what all the fuss was about over the last year or so (and it's brilliant, though I can't get the "hot coffee" mod to work right...). I'm sure the next time someone tries to ban a movie or a game, I'll probably rush to get it just to see what the big deal is... -

Nor do I, but that's an extreme and must therefore be compared to the other extreme, which is to isolate your child so much all the "bad things" in the real world, that the child remains completely clueless to what the real world is even like. For example, did you "shield" your child from the horror of 9/11 because it was too harmful? Did you ban all use of tv and radio, remove all newspapers, and cut the internet-connection? If you did so, did you protect your child, or did you do it a disservice, because you found it too disturbing to explain what happened? You should intentionally "harm" your children, no, but nor should you shield them completely from what the real world is like. You can't do everything for them, and one day they have to live in that world. I agree with those who say that it should not be made illegal to buy such games for children. If parents can't be bothered to take an interest in what their children spend their time on, then why did they decide to have any children in the first place - the responsibility comes with the choice to have children. If you don't want that responsibility, then don't have children (or let them be adopted)! -

Should parents be banned from taking their 11-year old children to see "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire"? It was rated PG-13 IIRC, and most children of age 10 and up want to see it. I remember a lot of controversy when the movie came out, because the parents ignored that warned and took their children to see it anyway. And yes, some parents *DO* go and watch a movie first before deciding whether their children may see it. I respect such parents very much. But I suppose now that the dvd is out, you would want the people working in the video store to refuse selling it to people if they are accompanied by children of 10 years or less? Do we want a society like that, where parents have to leave the children outside while they sneak in like thieves in the night to buy these products? I wouldn't want to live in it with you... Ratings should be ADVISORY only. Personally I won't tolerate a government that tells me what is "good and right" for me or for my child to experience - I'm an adult and will make up my own mind on that, thank you very much! Sure, they may make suggestions. They may give advice and seek to inform me. That I welcome. And finding reviews of a game your child wants to play isn't exactly rocked science in today's world. If parents can't be bothered to spend a few minutes finding some reviews about a game and then reading them, then they're probably going to screw up the child in any event. Would the law protect such children? Perhaps it would from video games, but it's naive to think that means it's not a harmful law, because we know that the next law will be about "abusive language" or "not smoking in your house" or whatever an opportunistic politician can sell as the "shock and horror" of the week to the public opinion in the media. Far too many politicians are nothing by fearmongers IMHO, and they don't hesitate for a second to mobilize the "angry mothers of America" or whatever behind their cause-of-the-week, whatever it might be. Would you let them taste if they're really curious? Because I might... But that does not mean that I turn children into alcholics. You almost make it sound as if a single drop of alcohol is going to corrupt an innocent child forever. -
Which is why I really dont want either of them around in any sort of important gameplay capacity. Ok lets assume you have read LOTR would you rather play the Frodo bits or the Gandalf Aragorn bits ? I mean I love the books. But even I find re reading Frodo's journey a chore. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Sacrilege!!!!!!!!! Kill the infidel!!!!!! Even if did agree with you (which I don't), my point is that you still don't need to be the major power-control-freak in the room to be the one who decides the outcome of the plot. And you can certainly be less powerful than Revan without being as weak and useless as Frodo was.

The fastest route to HK-47?
Jediphile replied to The Swedish Dark Lord III's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
You need four bits to get HK-47 working. You get two in the early story: One when you kill the HK-50 on Peragus, and another when you kill the three HK-50 units in the Telos polar region above Atris' academy. Now, I cannot remember where you get the third piece, but I think you buy it either from Kodin (on Nar Shaddaa) or Akkare (on Dantooine). Please speak up if you remember. The fourth piece is gained when T3 destroys the three HK-50 units attacking him in the droid warehouse on Nar Shaddaa. Since that is part of the chain of events that take place in the Nar Shaddaa plot, you cannot get HK-47 fixed until after you've completed the main quest on Nar Shaddaa (and gotten stuck with GOTO...) As for the KSE, you can find it here - just don't ask me how it works, as I've never used it myself. Because naturally I don't cheat - I have no need to. I advice Obi-Wan's council instead: "Use the force!" (= this game is already pretty easy, even on the highest difficulty level). -
Could Revan have been killed by K2?
Jediphile replied to DAWUSS's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Any suggestion to the contrary is just DS propaganda, since Star Wars history doesn't exactly support that position... -
Problem with that is , you can't have an NPC that is significantly more powerful than the PC. It's just not satisfying. It's ok at the start of a game (Ben coming along with Luke) but not at the end where it should be the PC's story. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Well, a new pc would have to start from scratch, so shouldn't Revan (and Exile) be far more powerful in any event? And being less powerful does not mean being less important. Frodo and Sam did *not* have the experience of Aragorn or Gandalf, but they were still essential - "even the smallest person can change the course of history..."
-
Great so we have a level 30 something Exile and a level 20 Revan. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yes, that's precisely the problem. If KotOR wasn't based on the d20 system of experience levels, then this wouldn't such a huge problem, but the fact is that it is. Whatever K3 is, it must give the player an experience of progress and achievement, and that means beginning at level 1. The only way you can do that with either Revan or the Exile is to reset their levels *AGAIN*, and I really don't want that I want them in there as playable characters, but until a new main character has achieved a level of experience that is level 20+, which means they will become available only rather late in the game. Oh, and Revan shouldn't be level 20. He's been out there fighting the true Sith for five years now. He should be well above level 30 if not 40! I'd leave the Exile around 30 to 35, though, since you can easily finish K2 around level 27 if not sooner.

I agree that this is a big part of it. The problem is that video games are still seen by the majority of society the same way comic books are - silly entertainment for children only. But lots of gamers were children 10 or even 20-25 years ago, but now they're adults and expect the games to target their particular demographic. A game like GTA San Andreas (which I play and love - it's a brilliant game) was never intended to be played by 10-year old children, but many of them do, not necessarily because their parents are bad parents as much as because they're unaware that games can certainly have particular target audiences. True. I mean, Charles Manson claimed that Beatles' "Helter Skelter" was the cause for his murders of Sharon Tate and others. Do we accept that as an excuse? A game can be a catalyst for a crime as much as anything, but you can't blame the game for it, since such a person would likely have snapped in any event. The critics would argue that it does not so much serve as an outlet as it "trains" you in a violent pattern of behavior that you can "fall back" into under certain circumstances, and which can therefore make you do horrible things. This was one argument in the case of Devin Moore. Not saying I agree entirely with it, though. I generally don't agree with theories that serve to "absolve" people of the responsibility of their own actions. -
Hmmm, is anyone else concerned about the turn the show is taking at the moment?
-
No, it just says that he no longer needed it once he got there. Indeed, the Ebon Hawk *was* there. If you set Revan to LS, Carth will tell you that wherever Revan went, the Ebon Hawk has been there as well. That's why navi-computer is locked - because Revan told T3 to lock it so that no one could follow him (or her).
-
Well, I think people only know my position - whether LS or DS in K1, I think Revan is staging a civil war inside the empire of the true Sith, and in order to do so he (or she) has embraced the dark side and is now attempting the claim the title of dark lord. He spared some world (notably Onderon) during the Mandalorian Wars, because he needed it as a later outpost in his war with the true Sith, except Malak's betrayal has ruined that plan. If Revan ended up DS in K1, this is just an extension of his quest for power. It took a year for him to remember the threat of the true Sith after his amnesia, but once he did, he saw that as a much greater threat to his own empire than the failing republic, and so he went to conquer the greatest enemy. Once he becomes dark lord of the true Sith, he'll conquer the republic in short order. He left his companions behind, because Malak's betrayal taught him, that he cannot trust anyone else, not even Bastila. If Revan was LS in K1, he remembered the threat of the true Sith, and that he originally embraced the dark side to stop their impending invasion. He meant to do a little evil to prevent a greater one. Instead he was seduced by the dark side and attempted to conquer the republic he had sworn to protect. Now he has no fleet, but worse, he no longer trusts himself to resist the dark side. So the only way he saw to end the threat, was to go to the true Sith empire, sacrifice himself to the dark side again, and then attempt to subvert the regime of the dark lord of the true Sith from within by starting a civil war. And he left his friends behind, because he did not want to endanger them either through the true Sith or to his own dark self as Darth Revan. In either case, that explains where Revan is, and what he has been doing for all this time.

M4-78 Restoration Project: WIP!!

Have you decided whether Kaah is a human or a twi'lek (he seems to be one or the other), or is that still a secret?
