KotoR 3: Ideas and Suggestions
I don't know... Bounty-hunting doesn't seem particularly well suited to a plot-driven game, somehow. And whatever K3 becomes (if it becomes anything), I want primary focus to be on the plot and the characterization of the main characters. Everything else is secondary to that IMHO.

Where's Alderaan?
Most of what we know of Sleheyron comes from what David Gaider says in the topic I mentioned before. Still, I would also advice checking out Wookieepedia EDIT: Anyway, talk about Sleheyron is severely off-topic. This thread was supposed to be about Tatooine. Sleheyron has been discussed before, so look here first.

Would Vandar have been better if...
Yoda is a Jawa. The reason why the rest of them are all covered is that they are tired of having Sith lords seeking them out and killing them just to make a name for themselves...

Where's Alderaan?
Just looked around for images of Sleheyron for a few minutes. The links should be recognizable.

Kreia tells that to Atris in KotOR 2 IIRC. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yes. She says it to Atris during the cutscene, when she goes to confront her on Telos.

Complaint: grey characters not grey enough.
Her ultimate goal was to destroy the force itself, no matter whether others agreed with her or suffered as a consequence. That makes it an evil act, and she is perfectly willing to manipulate and deceive others to reach her goals. But she knew that she could not achieve this goal alone, because only the Exile had the power to destroy the force. So in the end, her own life was not important to her overall goal, and she was willing to sacrifice it in her attempt to bring the Exile to a point, where he would destroy the force for hating it as much as she did. As for being a sith, note the title of the game - the Sith Lords - it's actually quite revealing - the entire game is a bitter feud among the Sith Lords for who is in control. And Kreia did not "stop" being a Sith in the sense that she moved on and was redeemed. No, Nihilus and Sion kicked her out. That doesn't exactly suggest that she suddenly then decided to go and redeem herself instead. Indeed, a primary motivation for is to get revenge against her defiant apprentices, which is scarcely the jedi way. So because she sees no truth in the force, that means there is none? I dare say most of the jedi masters would disagree with her. Sure, they could be wrong, but it's still not for her alone to say whether there is truth in the force - it's a question every individual must answer for himself. And who is she to pass judgment on all of the force itself? And her "sharing" of knowledge is - as far as I can tell - nothing more than pure manipulation, since everything she says is so filled with half-truths and deceit that you really cannot take her at her word.

What's wrong with Denmark?
The question mark at the end of the second line kind of ruined it for me. <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Another picture, which seem to be from Sleheyron: Oh, and check this out as well.

KotoR 3: Ideas and Suggestions
Why is chatting about a game we care about an indication that we have too much time on your hands? We at least have an interest, whereas the critics have the time to comment on things they say they don't care about... As Obi-Wan would say, "Who's the more foolish - the fool, or the fool who follows him?"

Would Vandar have been better if...
I agree that it was better to do as it was done. He had a very Yoda-like voice, but was noticeably different from Yoda at the same time exactly because he didn't talk "backwards" like Yoda did. If he had, he would have been a very forgettable Yoda-clone, whom we would all have done our best to ignore. Instead he became more original, while still having obvious ties to Yoda.

There is one right here:

So do I - he's a rock - but the show seems to kill of those characters first... Agreed - the look on Chloe's face was priceless Still, I'm sort of hoping they won't go much further with that - it's a bit boring.

KotoR 3: Ideas and Suggestions
true, except it doesn't work that way in Star Wars. In this franchise, there is very little in the way of technological advancement. technology is more or less a constant. the Death Star, of course, is an exception. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Actually, I don't think so. For example, we see fairly limited amounts of starfighter combat, which is probably because Lucas didn't want to give the impression that the technology of the past was more advanced than in the original trilogy. The star destroyers (particularly the huge ones like the Executor or Eclipse) are another obvious sign of this - the Republic had nothing like this, and even those we see in toward the end of the prequels are babies compared the real star destroyers. The starfighters are frequently also obvious "retro"-versions of those in the original trilogy. For example, Obi-Wan's starfighter in Ep. II looks like a cross between an A-Wing and the form of a star destroyer, Obi-Wan's and Anakin's starfighters in Ep. III looks like early TIE Fighters, and their support fighters like very early and poor X-Wings. This is even true in the KotOR era. Try looking at the ships in the Tales of the Jedi comics, and you'll note that some of them have a distinct "ancient" look compared to the slick design of the original trilogy. For example the Nebulon Ranger, which looks far more like a "piece of junk" than the Millennium Falcon ever could, or the Colossus Wasps. Or you could go back another 1000 years and see how ancient Naga Sadow's fleet looked, complete with its floating eyeball... It's only the KotOR games that messes this up.

KotOR2: Open-ended Ending?
I know, but there is a lot of confusion about it. I speculate that some this was going to be left open for K3, but if that was the case, then that point was lost as well among all the other cut content...

KotoR 3: Ideas and Suggestions
That was just the standard issue Imperial Blaster Rifle. For Jedi it would maybe be all right to use Stasis to capture your targets. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> All the weapons of Boba Fett and anyone from the movies is 4000 years after KotOR. It's not unreasonable to except the technology to have advanced in between, and that it is therefore more limited in KotOR games.

Complaint: grey characters not grey enough.
Whether it's rediculous is subjective. I don't even think that Jolee thought it was, he just thought that the order applied it unjustly, which meant that they were too soft on him. That's why he left. Because what was the use of the code, if they were going to overrule it in certain cases but not others anyway? He lost his faith in the system after that. Kreia hates the code, however, and she finds that the jedi are flawed for their blind trust in the force. She's not grey, however. Sith are not grey, and she was a sith in her heart all along. The "grey" part of her was just a facade.

TSL Restoration Project: The Phantom Deadline
Precisely. That's what went wrong with the game in the first place - no need to repeat that pattern. My advice is to move on now, then come back once the mod is finished.
-
Hey guys...
I think it only fair to warn people who are considering buying KotOR2 that the game is still in an uncomplete state, because Lucasarts pushed the deadline and so forced Obsidian to cut a lot from the game. This means that the game is excellent (barring annoying bugs) until you're about 70-80% through it, and then a disappointing turn towards the end. Even so, I still recommend it. There are more force-powers, levels and classes than in KotOR1, so when it comes to gameplay, it's still excellent - you just don't get a complete resolution to all the characters of the plot and need to ask around here or examine the clues given to figure it all out. A group is making a mod to restore the lost endings and other cut stuff, though. I'd give a link, but that would be a big spoiler.

More than just rumor. Read what Bioware's David Gaider says about it here.

Have you ever seen them use one? :D

24 survivor
Though I guess I should have included Wayne Palmer in this poll, both the top candidates - Audrey Raines and Aaron Pierce - were certainly in danger this time. Still, that's two episodes of 24 now, where none of the main cast have died - the writers must be slipping But it also means this poll can continue. Too bad not so many are interested in it, but oh well...

KotOR2: Open-ended Ending?
Dramatically and plotwise, yes, but that doesn't come across well the first time you see it, at least it didn't for me. Like the poster of this topic, I was more like "WTF?!?" Then I played it again. And again. And I read through the text in the dialog.tlk file. It helped a lot, and plotwise it's solid in the same way Ep. V was, but even so it still hurts the game that the ending was cut to pieces - the end result is a horribly scarred and unfinished game. I don't mind an open ending (like "Empire Strikes Back"), but I do mind an unfinished one.

Where's Alderaan?
Yeah, I agree. I'd much rather see Coruscant, Alderaan, Sleheyron, Myrkr, Khar Delba (and Khar Shian), Thule and Ziost (the last four (counting Khar Shian) are worlds of the ancient Sith)

Where's Alderaan?
We agree there. It was nice to see that Telos had grasslands as well as an icy polar region in K2, which was a nice change from the usual planetary philosophy of Star Wars, which seems to be "one terrain fits all"... In truth, I was surprised to see Alderaan in Ep. III, because we followed Organa's ship over the icecovered mountains, and I went "what? Alderaan is an ice world?!?" until he reached the port, and the scene then switched to him and his wife with the infant Leia. I had already read about what Alderaan looked like, so I was really thrown, but I suppose it just goes to show how used I've become to the "one terrain fits all"-idea when it comes to Star Wars...

Where's Alderaan?
That picture is of the actual capital of the entire planet, and as such it's not exactly proof that Alderaan is an urbane world. The fact that you chose that one image of all those available suggests This is actually quite obvious to anyone, who bothers to go through the admittidly demanding task of actually reading the description of the world: "Considered the "Shining Star" of the Core Worlds, wild grasslands and old mountain ranges dominated the planet's land surface. Large oceans and scattered inland seas provided the planet with ideal conditions for a large variety of flora and fauna to develop. As such, Alderaan was the homeworld of some of the galaxy's most famous animals, such as the nerf and the thranta. Alderaanian cities were often built with great care taken to protect nature. One city was built on the walls of a canyon, nearly invisible from above. Other cities were built on stilts along the shoreline or under the polar ice. The capital, Aldera, known for its university, was built on a small island in the center of a caldera." I hope you do see that your choice to include precisely that one image while omitting the others, which do not support your flawed position, can be construed that you are trying to misrepresent the facts. That does not make for the best basis for an informed discussion, I fear.
