"Only one person on each team gets to actually kick the ball, and they have to brought specially onto the field to do it." Cleese can be funny; but he shouldn't be talking about a sport he obviously knows very little about. Besdies, Europeans like to talk smack about 'Amerikan football'; because theya re intimidated by the fact that it's sueprior. Not to mention that unlike SOCCER; it's not friggin' boring. Seriously, I try to watch the World Cup of Soccer this past week, and I pretty much fall asleep. I cna watch the two worst NFL teams go at it in a meaningless game in Week 17 during a blow out, and still come away entertained. Heck, the Kanadian version of football is more entertaining than soccer. LOLOLOLOLLIPOP P.S. I know he was 'joking'; but the sad part is he probably believes that nonsense. AMERIKAN FOOTBALL > EUROPEAN FOOTBALL

BREAKING NEWS: MISS WORLD SERIES VIDEOGAMES BOYCOT
Volourn replied to Llyranor's topic in Computer and Console
I think anyone who is part of a 'one gender only' group should be disallowed from whining about sexism; because they have proven themselves to be sexists... unless someone is gonna telling me that 'PMS' allows males into their group. If so.... then sorry for the assumption. <> LOLOLOLOLLIPOP -
BREAKING NEWS: MISS WORLD SERIES VIDEOGAMES BOYCOT
Volourn replied to Llyranor's topic in Computer and Console
Boycotss are for wussies. Besides, any group with the name 'PMS' deserves to be laughed at, and not taken seriously. I wholeheartedly support this beauty contest on the basis that I am a male who always supports having the ability to look at beautiful women. btw, These whiners cyining about sexism are planning on running a Mr. Video Game contest. It looks stupid when you complain about soemthing then go out, and do it. It's like me doing the following: I say, I hate murderers." then I go out and murder someone. LAME! -
"Go head bitches, gloat. We still placed hhigher than all your teams" I wans't gloating (if you referring to me). Consideirng that my team got swept easily in the first round, I have nothing to gloat about. I'm just congratulating Carolina; because being runner up, in the long run, means nothing. It's only the Champions that really matter. If the Oilers had won I'd be congratulating them for the victory.
-
Congrats to the best team in the NHL Carolina! Nice try Oilers, you gave it your best shot even though it still wasn't good enough! Come join the other losers! Bow down to the new defending champions. Who'd a thunk a hockey team from Carolina would win it all!

Vampires need to be undead bloodsuckers. If not, and if they are actually humans who have mutated, they're not truley vampires. They're no more vampires than the 'vampires' found in 'real life'. Might as well give them a whole different name. That doesn't mean Hades' idea of a 'PA mutated human akin to a vampire' is a bad idea. It isn't. It just isn't a vampire. It's something different. Game over.
-
"Due to a mutation a splinter group of humans are born with the need to feast on blood. Naturally they develop fangs and possible a neurotoxin poison sacs to help faciliate the subduing of prey." These really aren't vampires. They're just another mutant human race that's called vampire; but they aren't 'real' (lol) vampires; at least not in the sense of vampires that are referred to - undead creatures that feed on human blood. Your version is cool and works; but is only a vampire in name only. Might as well call them something else.. heck, call them Goths. L0llers! Or bloodsucking humans. P.S. Fantasy vampires will *never* get dull.

"I cry myself to sleep every night wondering if there will ever be any new RPGs that are 100+ hours and like the old classic Black Isle games. ;_; " You mean all two fo them that *might* qualify for that range... maybe? You make it sound like it's a lot of games; but it isn't - espicially since the games that might qualify weren't even developed by Black Isle - unless there's a BIS game I didn't play that meets your criteria. WOWSERS! P.S. As for the topic, I cry all the time. I cry when I think of all the crybabies whoc ry all the time like the crybabies they are - espiciailly common the message boards when people cry about the death of out of date companies, and games. *cough* Roshan *cough*

Have you ever had a PnP campaign run just right?
Volourn replied to Kaftan Barlast's topic in Pen-and-Paper Gaming
"Have you ever had a campaign running perfectly smooth?" Yes. Multiple ones - both DMed by me, and by others. "- What mishaps have you had? What mistakes have you made?" I've made my share of mistakes DMing though, I definitely make sure not to make them twice. Two examples below: 1. When I first started playing, my first DMing gig, I followed the books exactly, and had rats and other obvious non loot dropping creatures drop loot. 'Tis shameful. 2. I gave my players TOO much freedom to choose. Menaing, they basically waited around UNTIL I *made* soemthing happened. They never voluntarily interacted with any npc unless I forced it right in their face. This led to a minor revolt will I was replaced as DM temporarily because there wasn't 'any role-playing'... and, the new DM proceeded with a combat heavy (yet fun in it sown way) campaign. "- Whats the worst campaign youve ever played in?" In highschool, I had the fun of befirending a new student who wans't exactly Mr. popularity (I wasn't Mr. Popular; but I wasn't actively disliked either lol), because I'm such a nice guy (haha!)... He invited me over for a weekend, and we played some Darksun... let's just say his drug addled (he's the only person whoe ver dared to offer me drugs even after I said no the first time... he didn't appreciate my reaction) made the campaign 'interetsing' as well as a complete disaster. -
"Does that make you fantasy? I can't imagine a Volourn existing in the really real world" You win. The only reason why I don't drink lots is - awaits the laughter - I prefer the taste of pop to booze. I have enver bought any type booze; but don't always refsue it when offered - at weddings or parties usually; but never more than one or twod rinks max. I'm all for people boozing it up if they wish. It don't effect me until they intervere with my enjoying (or others') life.

"You notice that the whole notion is to place horror as a subgenre of either fantasy or drama." What you talkin' about, Willis? I already gave examples of horror movies that aren't fantasy. Tsk, tsk. Once again: Fantasy, by defintion, includes anything that doesn't exist or is IMPOSSIBLE to exist in the real world.
-
"So, Star Wars is IMPOSSIBLE while Star Trek is POSSIBLE?" How can I take your post seriously when you make things up? Please point to even one part of my post where I state that Star Trek is NOT fantasy. I'd destroy the rest of your post as well; but since you are obviously adding things to my post that i never wrote there's no need. I'll just end with this: Fantasy, by defintion, includes anything that doesn't exist or is IMPOSSIBLE to exist in the real world. Game over. P.S. I drink alchohol maybe once a year.

Who was flaming? I wans't. Since when is 'why are soccoer fans posting in a football thread' considered a flame? WOWSERS! P.S. Espicially since it's an obvious joke.

"Although I though season two and three of Buffy were really good." They were good. Believe me, if I didn't think seasons #1-#3 weren't good, I would ahve given up on the series. My problem is comapring them to later seasons. Watch the later seasons then going back to watch season 1 is rather painful. It's obvious that the actors (not to mention customer deisgners, directors, and so learned on the job. If Season 6 Sarah Michelle Gellar did Season 1, it would be much ebtter... and, if Season #1 SMG did Season 6, it would come off not as well (espicially dealing with her death and subsequent ripping from Heaven)...

"I just got done watching the entire Buffy the Vampire Slayer series, from begining to end. Grrr. Argh." I'm actually doing this right now. I'm near the end of season 5. It reminds me how there is very little in teleivison that comes even comes close to the 'Buffyverse' series (both of them). Awesome stuff. I'm also currently watching Angel on Space. Wesley is easily the best character ever to be seen on television. Also, anyone who think Buffy gets worse as the series goes on is wrong. It gets better. Going back, and watchings easons 1, and 2 (espciially season 1) is almost painful comapred to the level of acting found later on. BUFFY + ANGEL 4 EVAR! (the show not the characters; they had their chance but they blew it)

Why are soccer fans spamming a football thread?!?

"Wouldn't that mean that everything except biographies and pure documentaries is fantasy?" False. Lots of fiction is non fantasy. However, games/settings delaing with stuff like werewolves and vampires are fantasy. This is a fact. By their very existcne, it's fantasy. Sure, it can be crossed over into horror; but it's still very much fantasy. Buffy the Vampire Slayer may be set in the 'real world'; but it is no doubt a fantasy setting. So, is BL despite its modern setting. You can make a horror without it being a fantasy. Saw, and Scream are good examples of this. Examples if fiction that is NOT fantasy is easy to find. These include things tons of tv shows (the majority of sitcoms ala Friends, Mash, and the like), most drama shows like NYPD Blue, and a host of others. Various novels, and movies fit this as well. Wher eid this idea that fantasy was just another word for viction? It isn't. Fantasy, by defintion, includes anything that doesn't exist or is IMPOSSIBLE to exist in the real world. That's why Star Wars is not really Science Fiction. It's Space Fantasy. So, spin it all you want. These are the FACTS. As for Gothic 2... I shall wait for Gothic 3.... that is all... "God, argue about something that at least seems worthwhile would ya? Maybe how to solve world hunger, or how to synthesize water or something? At least the illusion of having something that isn't so freakin' inane would be nice." Hilarious comment from someone who was arguing about it. Haha!

"You can't die." Yes, you can. Also, don't listen to the powergamers who want you to have high wisdom. Just play the game like you want to. You should be fine.

I dislike G2, and I think its 1 million times better than MW. "
-
Of course, they are (mostly) wrong. G2 has some good parts; but overall it was a very poor game. Still, better than the ES series. Plus, it looks like G3 will actually be worth a shot unlike the recent addition to the vastly overrated ES series. So, in that sense: LONG LIVE GOTHIC 3! (unless it ends up sucking)

"The graphics engine is very inefficient. The system requirements are immense, but it looks horrible. It has a graphics setting that only "future" cards could run at the time it was released. This was quite true, but the inability of contemporary cards to run it came not from fantastic-looking visuals but from an underoptimized graphics engine." We simply disagree.

"Let's not even mention EQ2. That shoddy piece of code doesn't even deserve a mention in a discussion involving quality products like WoW and GW. " Meh. EQ2's code is as close to perfect as a game can get. Very, very few bugs.

Karka cares.
