Long rant on RPGs and comments on Obsidian

"If you're looking for a Baldur's Gate-like game why not wait for Dragon Age to come out?" Outside of being a BIo game, and having their usual BIOness, people expecting DA to be exactly (or lameo 'spiritual successor') like BG will be sadly dissapointed. -
"EA can eat shist for all I care." Why you blaming EA for this? This is LA, and BIO. And, liekly was in the works BEFORE EA bought BIO. *shrug*

Sure. they have similarities; but they still aren't the same. For one thing, the Spectre's moral code is nowhere near the same as a Jedi's. And, the 'bionic powers has nothing to do with being a Spectre either. In fact, not every spectre has 'bionic power' while I have never heard of a jedi without the 'Force'. So, nope, not the same thing. 'Defender of the Galaxy' is not unique to Jedi either. Plus, Spectre's main loyalty (presumably) is to the Council and Citedal; not really the Galaxy. And, even then their loyalty is often split ie Or PC Spectre's loyalty is torn sometimes between the Citedal/Council and Humankind (just look at the ending). No Jedi would ever do soemthing like that.

Why is ME better/worse than other Bioware games

"Also as I said, KOTOR had no mind control," O RLY? Did you play the game? Tsk, tsk. -
Spectres have very little in common with Jedi. More in common with other 'secret' organaizations which the Jedi Order isn't.

"Besides, KOTOR characters had lots of different motivations besides brainwashing (or really corruption to be more accurate), the whole plot wasn't based on that." Huh? No. Most of ME's characters had nothing to do with brainwashing. The main character surely didnt unlike KOTOR's main character. So, are arguing for or against KOTOR here? Everything you say negative about ME works tenfold for KOTOR. L0L "No other game has ever really used a 'hag' so prominantly nor so well." I'm gonna take this as sarcasm as I'm sure Mr. Am knows otherwise. -

"I don't care about "better role-playing" since every supposed choice has been a weak fake anyway." This simply isn't true. I dunno why people feel the need to lie about games. It's really sad. -

Wrong. Then again, you love KOTOR which is so overrated it's not even funny. Espicially since that game's main character plot line is pushed through on brainwashing. LMAO ME > KOTOR -
"American colonists didn't have the "right" to fight against the King of England, either." Wrong.

"ME is worse than other Bioware games because of DRM" DRM? What DRM? My copy had DRM! ", Volo likes it" yeah, BL sucks too since I liked it. Oh noes! DR thinks BL sucks!!!, "crappy looking graphics and from what I read dull story." Better story than most other RPGs. R00fles! -

"Arrogant, stuck on himself, never wrong, opinionated, shallow minded and so on." Compliments are always welcomed espicially for this ugly, mean guy that I am. P.S. Arrogant - yes Stuck on himself - Nah, I don't think too highly of myself. Afterall, I'm a scummy customer, and internet geek.. Two things I hate really much. Never wrong - Preach it! Opinionated - Oh noes! My crimes continue to mount against humanity! Shallow minded - Nah, I doubt shallow minded means what you intend as it does not mean 'must agree with what the majority of the forums believe'... unless the defintion has changed last i checked. I like(d) Anomen. I don't know why people bash him so much. In fact, he's one of the best examples of where player to npc interaction can actually lead to change and consequences in BG2. He has a solid character arc that actually lead to character growth. -
'sounds worse than it seems' is not really enough to condemn someone of full fledge homicide/murder. And, the fact that the man had runs in with the law doesn't directly lead to what you are implying - that he purposefully threw his child in the fire. I can't 100% rule that possibilty out; but I'm not going in with that extreme of an assumption either. "Two years really isn't enough, in my view" So, again, how much time is enough? 5 years? 10 year? Or just burn him in a fire? Perhaps, that will sooth your need for payback... err.. 'justice'? If it was an accident, he should be order to onto probation, community service, drug/alcohol rehab, and only be allowed to have supervised visitiation with his living childuntil hge gets his life together. throwing him in prison helps nobody, doesn't send any kind of meaningful message, nor does the punishment fit the 'crime'. If it was on purpose, then I say fry him.

"With a year more development time, they certainly would have rewritten certain parts and fleshing out the characters more. Also, the leveldesign and art would have been improved, and the overall game a more polished and finished feel." Outside of being 'more polished' none of this is 100% sure. Why would Obsidian 'rewrite' things. perhaps, they liekd the writing just fine.. until people started criticisng it. Same with the characters. Level deisgn likely would have changd very little. -

"those in KotoR II were vastly superior to Kotor's." No, they weren't. "Kreia was a terrible character." Geez.. Exaggeration much. Kreia was a solid good character. I agree with maria about her mainw eaknesses, and why i often rant against thsoe who claim she's the 'bestest NPC ever' crowd. "And, Kreia is still the best representation of a subtle Sith Lord we have. She -
"He should have gotten 5 to 10 years." Why stop at 10-15 years? Why not just give me 10 life terms. Or better yet, just give him the death penalty. Death penalty by fire. That'll be sweet, sweet karmic justice.

NHL 09 is the only game I'm playing right now. Between franchise, Be A Pro, my EASHL club, my 1 vs 1 league about to start season 5, and leaguegaming team play I simply don't have time to play lesser games.

"Mass Effect is a straight up CRPG, not an Action RPG" It's an Action RPG; because player physical ability plays a large role in the combat. Unlike, say BG where stats alone determine whether you hit/kill the enemy; player targeting plays a big role. Hence the action part. (unlike with the real time). With Diablo at least, your character stats effect the outcome to a much greater degree. Same with DS, IIRC. Haven't played TQ. -
Long rant on RPGs and comments on Obsidian

"Every single planetside mission on ME is a kill mission." "A few of the missions had a non violent option and that was it." So which is it? "Everybody knows that BG1 was the first real time-with-pause, isometric DnD RPG in the infinity engine." Next time clarify. All you said was 'first of its kind'. That could mean so many things. Bottom line is BIO's newer games are superior role-playing games than BG. "Of course. NWN OC was DnD's Diablo 2. Except that Diablo 2 was more fun to play." BG has just as much in common with D2 as NWN OC does. In fact it has more since NWN OC actually has more role-playing than BG.
