  1. Not if you play alone a lot and aren't a mage. When you're high level, it gets better, but running the roads is real pain in the arse.
  2. Repetition is the key to Blizzard's action-RPG's. I think those I've talked to wouldn't say WoW is the best game evah, but if you like it at all, it tends to be really addicting. The travelling sucks up a lot of time, too.
  3. Braggart. Even when they were only playing in the little display properties preview window the numbers didn't go higher than around 500-800. harhar, lol P.S. They are very cool screensavers. I like the fireworks one - complete with sound.
  4. More cleaning of dust encrusted areas of the house in the late afternoon, which triggered major allergy head. I haven't stopped sneezing/sniffling for hours. If you could poke my head with a pin, it'd explode.
  5. 16 Blocks. Caught on cable while eating dinner. Strange little movie. The rapper dudes character was annoying, in an exasperating yet tolerable way. I couldn't tell if it his talkin' all the time was supposed to be funny or not - I didn't think so. Had a preposterous plot, of course - even moreso than most action movies. But kinda entertaining anyway. At least for free.
  6. They all run on my computer too; I don't think the pc even sweated. Hyperspace gets 45-60fps and the rest were in the 100's, with occasional bursts of 200's depending on what it was drawing. My mo'bo/pc may not be all shiny but apparently it's just fine. I don't really see how the files together being 11MB makes it a resource hog - each individual .scr file isn't that large ... but I don't know how screensavers work/pull resources so ...
  7. I think the 2nd ("game over") and 3rd are night-time pics so they're just dark. The other two are moodily dim but seem bright enough to me. My brightness is set to 50 & my contrast is 100(max) on my monitor (not vid card) - not that tells you much, since you don't know what monitor I'm using. :D
  8. Hmm, very interesting, thanks. Hubby was fairly sure it should've seen the primary but I didn't ask him why. He has a computer with the same motherboard as mine so if he has it working on his (I don't know for sure, I'd have to ask) it oughta work on mine. I can see where a limitation like that might arise tho. And yes, my mo'bo is ancient in computer terms, if not in years. Darn tech.
  9. When they were sitting on the grass in the hills I was definitely feeling nauseous.
  10. I picked up a big fantasy anthology when out the other day, from 2004 I think. Short stories. These days I prefer short stories to novels (for fansty/sci/fi); I wish they'd write more of them. Kind of a dying art, seems like. Everything has to be in 8+ novel series now ...
  11. I just woke up, so my day so far is blurry and indistinct. After summer-like weather, it's supposed to get cold and rainy again. It's hard to take pictures in the rain. I need a mini-umbrella lens attachment.
  12. Yeah, it does. I just put in a big 2nd drive and it's fine. I don't know what it is - maybe the disc-maker lied on the box about how much there was. More likely I forgot/don't know some config. thing upon installing it; hubby doesn't forget that stuff.
  13. Hubby said "I don't want to mess w/your main HD settings while you're using it" so I inserted a 2nd 500GB HD and this time XP sees it all. That might be enough for a while. Re-organized my computer den. Busy bee.
  14. Hahaha. I have a horrible short-term memory. I'd completely forgotten you'd written that already.
  15. The last couple days I finally figured out what I was doing wrong and can now usually get acceptable photo prints out of Canon printer. The color's still not quite what I see on my monitor, but at least they look decent, so I can be more confident they'd print acceptably on other printers. So that was nice. Now I need to find a good printing service, for non-personal prints. Hubby and I bounced around downtown most of last night - among other things, he wanted books on grinding your own telescope lenses - and I was somewhat astounded by the fact there are now 3 large Barnes & Nobles within 5 miles of each other. *shakes head*
  16. What kind of cheats? Did you use the savegame editor to change a weird variable that might have done something "bad"? Beyond that, all I can suggest is to re-load an earlier save, or perhaps the auto-save if you have no other. It's possible the save is just corrupt. If you do load an earlier save and it works, remember to re-save in a new slot just in case. Not sure what you mean about the FTP server being down. If you're unable to download a patch from a site at the moment, then just try later?
  17. Y'know....I still have no idea how to make XP recognize my entire HD. It stops at around 127GB, but there's 60 more (or something, I forget by now) on there it doesn't "see." Huuby said XP should see it, but he's no XP expert so has no idea why it's not. Anyone know? I'm sure it's something absurdly simple...
  18. I'm not an expert, but I had to get a better PS when I bought the ge7800GS. Although in my case, for whatever reasons, the card wouldn't even install w/out upgrading the PS (made a high pitched noise), so I was forced to from the get-go. I had a 350W. I bought a 500W. Inexpert toss: Is it possible there's something wrong with the memory sticks themselves or their connection slots?
  19. Tinkering with items, skills, units or formulas to see "what happens" and "what I can do." Alchemy in some games is an example, creating weapons is another, and creating 20 different mages to try different skillsets/builds is yet another. I'll spend hours/days/weeks on those and forget that there even is a "plot." Combat is only fun in the sense that I want to see all that stuff I'm tinkering with in action/see results. Thus most shooters bore me because there's no tinkering regarding combat; you find a gun, equip it, shoot. Zzzzz. Shooter has to have a great atmosphere/environment, or puzzles/maps ala tombraider, for me to get very far playing it. I'm a mad scientist, essentially. Everything else is secondary or unnoticed. But don't get me wrong - if story/characters really stands out, I do notice, assuming I ever get past the tinkering parts. I love 'god' strategy games with frantic action and multi-tasking of controlling 100 things at once. Grinding doesn't bother me as long I feel like I'm still tinkering in some fashion (ie grinding to get ingrediants for my alchemy to make something). I like games with a sense of humor, whether off to the "side" (gravestone text to read if you click on 'em) or direct (character dialogue). A small cuteness factor here and there never hurts. T3 was soooooo cute.
  20. I think that's a fairly well known bug that some people get. When you first enter the Academy, don't choose that "ok we mean no harm" option first thing. That's the bug trigger. Ask who Handmaiden is first, then surrender. So I'd suggest reloading a save/autosave from before you first entered the academy, if you have one.
  21. I'd buy the TV and buy the computer later, since you're less likely to want to replace the TV as fast as the computer. I'm not great at knowing what parts to buy, but I can put a computer together. Eventually. Hubby's faster so I usually make him do it. But yeah, it's not that hard these days to toss everything together - just a little time consuming; unless, maybe, you're trying to build a dilithium powered warp drive PC ...
  22. I never would have guessed. That's a very good documentary, for it's time. I'd probably find it a little dry/static now, what with all the colorful CGI animated history documentaries they make these days. But can't beat the info crammed into the Ken Burns one.
  23. Ah...signal fire on the water. I suppose that's clever, except, as you pointed out, how to avoid the flames in your very meltable rubber raft. I guess you paddle like mad as soon as you toss the match.
  24. I like the screen w/the bunker entrance in the ground, or whatever it is. Nice and creepy or curiosity-inducing or something.
