Pretty much me in a nutshell. Which is why, I suppose, when I do get a new game I like, I play it to death for a long time. So few new ones that interest me & older ones fading. I still love my old games in terms of respect/review/all-timers but it's hard to play them for very long when you know every square inch, every method, every detail, that even a few years of non-play can't erase. But times like these give me time to catch up on all the TV/movies I might've missed, so it all works out in the end.

Eh, it's that generally vague running a temperature, stabbing headaches, aching joints and upset stomach all combined.. Oh ok. I had visions of stuff more male-specific than that. At any rate, glad it's feeling better at least. Looks like we're not going up to SSF, which selfishly improves my mood considerably.

Fighting some minor Win7 (I assume) glitching while playing KOTOR2. I have a feeling I won't finish, since I played it so much I can still remember a lot of stuff even after years, but it's fun nostalgia for a bit. Atton is not quite as cute as I remember. But his voice is still meltingly awesome.

All I have to say is it's very difficult to know how you'd react until it happens to you. The survival instinct is very strong...but at the risk of sounding insensitive myself, after watching/living with someone in that situation, I'm not sure I could personally stand it either. Altho, for me, that just makes me respect those that do, more. *shrug* ...and, ah...hm. Any more news on whether Blizzard is actually going to have D3 in time for Xmas? So many of my friends are all hopped up on the belief/hope that it'll be so. heh

Shoutout to the Devs

Am I the only one a little bit worried about Diablo3? Not hugely, but a little. There's lots of tiny things with the info coming out that makes me think it will be good, but not great. Then again, I'm probably just being cynical and pessimistic from the way I disliked the direction they turned WoW towards. -
Subtitle Bug
LadyCrimson replied to B1MBLE's question in Dungeon Siege III: Technical Support (Spoiler Warning!)
That's altered via the "Display popup dialog" option, not the subtitle option. They don't appear at the bottom during the (art slide) movies, for me. However if you mean the actual NPC dialogues...with the wheels and stuff...I just think they didn't separate the 'click wheel option' menu from the 'show dialogue' window. -
Problems when I start game.
LadyCrimson replied to Sidguard's question in Dungeon Siege III: Technical Support (Spoiler Warning!)
I'm not sure about no menu options being visible on the raining/statue screen but the lag could be .... I think the game's requirements is a 9800GT...assuming the 9400 is down the chain, it's probably not quite good enough for the game. That is, it might run on low settings but lag may be persistent. Depends on some of your other specs, like CPU, laptop vs. desktop, etc I suppose. Just for more info's sake: what's your CPU? Not a ati/dual card person but have you tried with using just one card/no crossfire? -
I'd ask what a "man flu" entails, but I'm not sure I want to know the answer. Woke up early, did a bunch of boring stuff, tried to make Kotor2 run more properly on my Win7 rig (mostly failed), had a piece of leftover pizza and am now wondering if hubs is going to push me into driving to SSF so he can drop off his van/see his fave auto-mechanic (who moved his business up there recently). It's a long and trafficy drive just to get a rattle looked at so the thought is making me a bit grumpy.

Cant move after battle and other bug...
LadyCrimson replied to Skeet1983's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
I have the 'can't move after a battle' problem too. Sometimes it works ok for a little while but then starts to do it. If there's enemies/containers nearby I can still click on them and the chr. will dash over and keep fighting/open the containers, but once finished she's still stuck/won't walk. Sometimes if I wait a little while I'll unfreeze...but otherwise the only thing that works when it happens is to quicksave the game and quickload, then I can move again. So it's playable, just a pain in the butt having to save/reload all the time, even if it only takes an instant on the new pc's of today. Vsync does nothing. I tried disabling a lot of the funky features of my SB soundcard like Crystal-something (never have EAX on) and that got rid of some sound crackling and some instances of cutscene skipping but the can't-walk problem is still there. Seems more like an issue with the way the game (or the restoration mod which I'm also using) leaves corpses. Seems to happen a lot if the corpse has no remains. No freezes when movies play tho. -
No, 1600x1200 doesn't show up in either menu. I can force it in the .ini but then things like menu buttons are cut off. I'm pretty sure I'd need a 1920x1200 monitor to make it work...aren't LCD monitor's max. resolution their native resolution? Anyway, at least I have a 4:3 option so I don't have to live with the "stretched look". Thanks for the patches. Altho the hi res movies never seemed to do anything for me...is there a way to make them play bigger resolution by default, instead of the dinky letterboxed 800x600 or whatever it is?

My father could draw cartoons and art with nothing but his mouth, so I see nothing stupid with playing games using a specialized controller. It'd take a lot of practice, but apparently the guy has that. Whether it's "worth" living with severe physical disability is up to the individual. Some people make it so, some give in to despair and make it not. I guess we know which one Morgoth would be.

So in the old days, with my CRT monitor, I was able to run the game in 1600x1200. With my 1080 LCD monitor, I can only do the 1280x1024. I'm assuming this is because my monitor is 1080 and the game can't adjust for that or something. I can force it to be bigger via the .ini file but then the image gets cut off etc. The question then is ... is there a way to run Kotor2 in 1600x1200 on my monitor? I don't really care about widescreen....but perhaps a widescreen mod is the only way to get it to run at a bigger size? I saw one but not sure I want to deal with that, so if that's the only way, guess I'll make do... Oh and also...I can't seem to find the hi-res audio/movie patch. The nzone links I see are all out of date, it's a different site, tried a Search there but nothing. I thought I had them on disc somewhere but so far I haven't found them...

Shoutout to the Devs

I definitely like that you have to physically dodge, vs. dodge being just a percentage chance number ala Diablo. But I kinda of wish you could occasionally miss your dodge or something, so you aren't practically invincible via dodging/teleporting. -
The humor is really great. Off to watch a couple more episodes right now.

Congrats on the new family addition, vault_overseer. Hope you don't need a lot of sleep for a while! ....We don't have a Wal-Mart. I think this town outlawed them. haha. ....Dusted out the PC again. I don't know how these things collect so much dust in so short a time, especially when they have fans to move the air around.

Eh? I'm not sure what I said that was harsh. In essence my brief statement is agreeing with you...that ammo weight isn't much of an issue in most cases. However, while I don't use energy weapons, there were some ppl who complained about weight of some of the energy ammo...but as I said before, that might've changed in one of the patches. Dunno. ...*wiki check* - according to the wiki MF cells are still .10 weight. So if you like energy weapons, that could be a larger factor, since some of those weapons use 2-5 cells per shot. Many bullet rounds, for instance, only have .029-.060 weight and don't use up 2,3, or 5 per shot. That's a fairly big difference. Nothing insurmountable, but more of an inconvenience perhaps. But like I said, I don't use energy weapons/can't say from experience.

Not a movie but I've been watching some of the Slayer anime series on Netflix. Started because I wanted to see something else Crispin Freeman had done but once I could ignore some of the annoying squeaky voices and certain animation aspects that I dislike it's a cute, goofy series. Slayers:Revolution is more entertaining overall from the get go, but the last half of Slayers:Evolution-R isn't bad either.

Don't know about the one in Gilroy, but the one up here is practically a supermarket. Ok, not quite that huge, and their brand selection is limited, and no deli or anything, but still...quite a lot of stuff. But yeah...no reason to make it a main grocery shop place. Don't really understand the shift, myself.

Target sure has a lot of food in it's stores, nowadays. Not that I want to stand in huge lines behind ppl purchasing 20 pairs of cheap pants, towels, home decoration and mega-pack candy bars to buy some meat & fruit cups...I'll stick to Lucky/Nob Hill thanks. I've been reading about the South-Western drought that's plaguing the US farmers at the moment. I expect cereal and other food items to go up in price in the next year.

I'm surprised no one's mentioned the new patch. Then again, perhaps no one but Lucian has been playing since the patch. I know I haven't. I've pretty much decided I'm going to stick with patch 1.3 until all the DLC are out and I'm convinced no more patches are coming. I get tired of starting a new game and/or needing to download a new GECK, NVSE, readjusting mods, blah blah each time. Which is fine...by the time it's finally all done, I may feel like playing it obsessively again.

Certain ammo was actually fairly heavy, but I think they may have changed that now. Anyway, unless one likes to wander the wastes for hours and hours without ever going back to/walking by a town/merchant to restock, not usually a big issue. I'm not a fan of HC mode personally, but I understand why some/many are. To me it adds nothing to difficulty of the game, it's just more time-micromanagement and I do enough OCD things in non-HC as it is...much more and I'd never actually be shooting/questing. lol

Limited camera movement
LadyCrimson replied to Assassinka's question in Dungeon Siege III: Technical Support (Spoiler Warning!)
I have no problem with the idea that not everyone likes top-down only games. No one has to like it. But it's not obsolete at all, for this genre of game in particular, for the advantage C2B already mentioned. Titan Quest (2006)/Immortal Throne (2007) Torchlight (2009) Grim Dawn (indie being made by some of those from Titan Quest) (still in production) and of course... Diablo3 (2011/2012?). In fact, from the videos of D3, I'd say it's going to be pretty similar viewpoint as DS3 is...perhaps a little more zoomed out. And those are only the pc games I've personally played/looking forward to. I'm sure there's others, whether small indies/not well known to medium size to the occasional bigger title. As for: I don't play MP either. Having the camera a bit more zoomed out would actually allow one to see farther "forward" - a bigger radius field of view - and thus see enemies sooner, if that's one's complaint. You don't have to have an over-the-shoulder 3rd person type of view in order to just see "farther" - zooming out achieves that as well. It doesn't, of course, give you a pretty view of skies or whatever, but that's different than wanting to see enemies sooner. I'd like to mention that the way the game is designed, seeing too much "farther" could actually make the game too easy. If you can see enemies long before they can see you, you're going to approach the situation differently. There's no surprise factor (the 1st time anyway). You'd see enemies milling about unaware of you when you can see them, and that starts to look silly in this type of game, imo. Akin to when Diablo2 gave us 800x600 resolution and suddenly the Fallen were just wandering around aimlessly in the corners of the screen, and you could attack them before they noticed your presence, which made things absurdly easy. That's easily solved by not allowing the weirded out super-close up in the zoomed out option, but allowing it in the closer zoomed in option. My objection to the "wall/zoom" is that when it occurs during combat, which can happen now and then if you're rolling/teleporting madly around in the tight spaces, it can be very annoying. -
Deposit your love for Obsidian here
LadyCrimson replied to Ultrasoundwave's topic in Obsidian General
For me tossup between Kotor2 and FNV, but I had to vote for FNV since I put in way more hours with that one overall. I like DS3 quite a bit & admire that they tried to do something different with the genre, but it's not a game I see myself replaying for 200+ hours, haha. I never did play NWN2....I started it when it was released, but didn't get far. I think at the time I was still very burnt out on the whole 'story rpg'/large party/D&D type game. Alpha Protocol - not my kind of setting, but I do mean to try it someday. -
And he's still writing them! (wiki)

Yeah, I loved Magician. The rest...not so much. Piers Anthony's Blue Adept series interested me for the same reason - magic world (Phaze) and non-magic world (Proton).
