  1. I don't know who that is, but in that getup at least, he's definitely more how I'd envision Drizzt. Oh, I didn't mean that Diesal couldn't maybe act the part....but he does not, in my mind at least, look the part at all. I just cannot picture Entreri, who is a very agile, very fast, "lean," "wiry" and not very tall swordsman being played by tallish, large-biceped, muscular, somewhat broad/rounded face Diesal. I guess I think of someone more along the lines of, say, a Bruce Lee body type. (same for Drizzt, really, who's supposed to be even shorter than Entreri)
  2. Agrees with Hurlshot. I've decided I'm definitely going to buy it, partly because of hype & partly because I'm just curious to see it graphically, at this point...(and I'm not getting D3 so I'll have time)...but I'm still not excited. But hoping it'll surprise me and I'll find myself wanting to wander & explore & being sucked into it non-stop for several weeks.
  3. ...and...
  4. It's a principle thing. I paid for the game, I don't want to see a giant ad within the game. The "Update/Look For Update" button should be enough. There was also this horrible way they dealt with one of the Steam friends thingies. In FNV it would pop up in the corner for a brief moment and then go away, in 2W2 it wasn't going away and when I pressed shift+tab it would put up this giant overlay of crap before letting me click yet another spot to make that go away. (so I turned the friends setting off). Just ticked me off...I'll get over it I suppose.
  5. More variety re: weapon mods/stuff to play with appeals to me. And since most of the weapon mods that people make haven't appealedo....yeah, think I'll buy it.
  6. See that giant ad bar? Go away please? ...I'm not impressed.
  7. .... lol...silly me. I'd thought you were younger than that, but then I thought "well maybe I was wrong", since I'm terrible at keeping stuff like that in my memory.
  8. I know what you mean. I was a bit late to have the Vietnam association, but when I think of that long ago, what comes to mind is John Lennon's murder. Big Beatle fan when I was 12 and seeing that on the news (near Xmas too!) was horrifying at the time.
  9. Thanks for that...baseball bat mods, haha! I love it. I may have to get it then.
  10. Anecdotal evidence (i.e. my own experiences), so far none. If you have some really antiquated, obscure (and unsupported) hardware, you might have trouble finding drivers, but anything released by most popular brands is updated a long time ago by now. Haven't found a game or application yet that hated W7 x64 more than it hated my hardware. Very old stuff can run on Dosbox or VirtualPC anyway. Yup, that's about it for my experience too. I don't see any reason not to run the 64-bit version.
  11. If you have/use the GECK yourself at all, you can do all that yourself in about 5 minutes. But yeah, lowered XP gain mods are a must imo. Question: has anyone bought the Gun Runner's Arsenal yet? I noticed on the Steam description it mentions 40 extra weapon mods, which I don't remember from the lists someone posted earlier, and was wondering if those might make it worth the $4...or if they suck.
  12. Plumber had to be called in...I think these old houses have roots growing into all their pipes. Everyone just grinds out the roots every year or two because no one wants to spend thousands and thousands ripping up concrete foundations to replace all the piping (neither does the city of course). All these aging infrastructures...gonna be a big problem someday soon. heh Chinese food and bad TV, then good book and bed. I would be playing FNV/DLC's or Two Worlds2 but Steam site ticked me off. Maybe tomorrow.
  13. Since the concept is that spambots can't "read" pics, I really don't get how making the pictures all blurry and convoluted helps prevent spambots from understanding what they are. Blah. Edit: ok, I read wiki & apparently some bot tech can read old style captcha now or something. Still, it's getting ridiculous.
  14. Rejected Rejected Repeat 10 times, each time lag-loading for 20 seconds between "rejection". !&@*# this, guess they don't want my money. *flounces off to watch TV instead*
  15. The only thing I liked about the Doom movie was that segment that was very video-game like, because it made me laugh. The rest...meh. I should say, too, that most of my liking Tombraider was Ms Jolie. She just fit as Lara, imo.
  16. Browsing Steam's game library through the steam launcher window (not a web browser) *3 items in your shopping cart* *Purchase for myself please* ---Please login--- (even tho I had to log in already) *type in my login info* ...then similar to Tale, stuck forever. Edit: Now I'm stuck on their stupid captcha, where the pics are impossible for even a human to read.
  17. *Google* ...wait, he made a "worst movie of all time" Alone in the Dark movie, with Christian Slater? I MUST FIND/WATCH THIS.
  18. Tombraider wasn't too bad. And if you like horror the 1st Resident Evil was tolerable. But yeah, agreed....video games turned into movies are typically terrible. Not to mention, never feel like they have much to do with the actual game. Maybe that's part of the problem ... they keep trying to make the movie fit the game's plot vs. writing an actual good movie script that happens to have known game characters in it.
  19. Thanks for keeping us updated, Fionavar. Glad there's some seemingly good news in there. Edit: side note - hubs and I seem to have a new fave topic of late night discussion...the Big Brother tech subject. lol
  20. Independence Day.
  21. Green Lantern isn't nearly the popcorn kind of movie Thor was. It has its nice/fun moments but .... yeah, not what I want from a comic hero movie I guess. It's hard to take it as seriously as it wants you to when there are bad/abrupt edits (that took me "out" of the film mentally) and one out of the two "bad guys" makes you laugh in the so-bad-it's-funny way. Also, part of the ending was too ID4 like visually...enough so that for long minutes all I could think about was ID4. But it wasn't terrible/bad. Reynolds looked good in that suit and he fit the role's defined personality/issues well I think.
  22. That story has no serious proof to it...some guy posts on a forum then never posts again. Journalists today... Regardless, I can see it might be possible with that kind of app. Which between that and the normal GPS, is another reason I don't yet have one. ...same thing with GPS chips in cars. My old non-GPS car has 35K on it and I'm going to drive it until only duct tape is holding it together.
  23. Stupid old houses and their crappy weak-sauce plumbing. And whoever put in the pipe under the sink didn't use any sealant type stuff (whatever they call it) on the plastic to metal joints/threads. Rust ahoy & *snap*. New plastic pipe joints needed. Hehehe At least the laundry sink drain doesn't affect the kitchen/bathroom this time. ...cooking up some beef/cabbage/rice stir fry and then time to watch the undead.
