  1. I tend to agree with this part. I also think not everything old needs to be "improved/remastered." *glances at Star Wars and other things*
  2. The last few times I've caught the local news broadcasts, I find myself watching all the silly fluff stories and tech-trend reports on the latest "apps" or latest YouTube viral video + the constant "more on/follow us on Twitter/Facebook!" and try to remember back when news broadcasts seemed like actual .... news. I don't know how many people remember the flavor of the show "Entertainment Tonight" back in the late 80's, but that's what often comes to my mind. ...*looks it up* ... I guess Ent. Tonight still exists, lol.
  3. We had a little brush fire today, which made the local news. It was a whole bush, apparently. (ok, twas more than that, I just like poking fun at our news...) I can't even imagine that much snow at once. I'd probably constantly worry about the roof, even if the roof was built with snow-state in mind.
  4. Note to self: buy the 980 for a new rig. Unless there's a new series that's better, by this Fall/Winter. Then that one.
  5. *reads CNN page* -- Pshaw, what a fuss over a little wind and snow. What a bunch of weather wimps. ...just kidding. Stay safe over there, everyone.
  6. I think Cameron can still craft good/entertaining movies, even if I'm not personally interested in a specific project. But Avatar/sequels has me wondering if he's going off the deep end re: some personal artistic vision or something, ala Lucas and the prequels/altering original SW etc. If Cameron ever finishes dancing with the Avatar stuff, it'll be what he does after (if anything) that will decide me.
  7. I still have no interest in the new films. I mean I'm sure I'll catch them on cableTV someday, but that's it. Left field: sometimes I wonder if James Cameron is one day going to join my personal list of directors I used to love but now don't.
  8. Sometimes I feel bad for Lucas ... I mean, he means well. I don't think he's the devil incarnate (most of the time). I think one of his issues is he can get too wrapped up in making a movie for himself, rather than for an audience. If that makes sense.
  9. I expect it to be chaotic, like with all the big periods since the KS was announced. Hopefully fun chaos, of course. Game release periods are usually my favorite time...when it's a new experience that "everyone" is sharing, helping others, etc. I'm ready. I think.
  10. Fever broke, going from 104 to 101 overnight. One of the few times I don't mind sweating. I've determined that my life needs a bit of a shake-up, so after I shake the flu fully, I'm going back to ballroom dance. I think my knees can handle most of it, except maybe a violent polka or certain latin dances. There's a place near here I've had my eye on for a long time now. Just for fun and the meeting new people, nothing serious. Let's see how much I remember.
  11. Oh and IGN just put this up re: BL3. Basically sounds like an appeasement dialogue...not actually working on it at all, but "help us out with ideas" or even job talent maybe, or something. Yawn.
  12. Don't know about what they said, but they played a trailer I think.
  13. So far I'm seeing new Pre-Sequel stuff/DLC and maybe they said "we'd like to work on a new Borderlands soon" but that's about it. Guess I'll look it up tomorrow...time for me to head back to bed soon.
  14. Not everyone finds beating up on other players very entertaining in action games. I personally find that type of play boring. Judging from the popularity of Borderlands series, I'd say quite a few feel that way. Kinda like how some movies are more fun if you watch them with others. It's fun to go through a light story/arena fight campaign with a friend or spouse etc. vs. just running around hiding behind corners and popping up to shoot each other in the face. Strategy games are different things. I find strategy passable/amusing in single-player, since I'm a loner, but of course if you want harder/less predictable challenge you have to play against other humans, because AI sucks.
  15. Yeah...I'm not terribly convinced that a "Borderlands 3" would be something I'd like. It'll probably be some f2p online thingie with lots of micro-transactions instead of skin-dlc's. But I'd still be curious to hear details of what they have in mind. So I can then complain.
  16. Hm. Thanks. At one time the Riftworld Chronicles site was a portal to see the Portal, but I guess now it's more for new stuff based on Portal. Or something. Looks like it's up on YT as well now.
  17. @Rosbjerg - that is indeed interesting, and also not wholly unsurprising. But it's possible it's an effect that may lessen/go away over time. Hopefully that's the case. @TrueNeutral - that made me lol. Love it when that happens! My current mood is "oh god I can't stay in bed another minute longer, I'll get bedsores or something." But flip side, flu makes the head feel like it weighs 100 pounds so it's hard to sit up for long without wanting to fall asleep. So I'm going to sit in a high-back chair I dragged in here and clean out hard drives. Let's see how that goes.
  18. So there's a rumor that Gearbox is going to maybe mention some Borderlands 3 news at Pax today. Anyone heard anything more about that yet?
  19. ^^ I saw that trailer a while back..looks funny and I like Tahmoh. Haven't registered at the site yet tho.
  20. Yeah, that's definitely sensible and what I'd normally do. I'm not actually interested in the game itself. I just want a new shiny and it's been forever since I felt like I had any justification for it. Thanks, next-gen consoles. Or whatever.
  21. Osvir - just wanted to say thanks for the EZ youtube video link. As usual lately I miss things when they're "live."
  22. *looks up Witcher 3's system requirements* ...finally! Soon I'll have my excuse/s to build a new computer. Not that I couldn't run that game. Just wouldn't be very high settings/fps. But I think 6-7 years is probably getting on long enough for a rig. Next fall/winter...yesss, precious.
  23. I think in the past it was a preference largely based on physical appearance/gracefulness - it wasn't just "skinny", but also body ratio things along with it (long legs/short torso, small-breasted, long neck/small head). Now it's possible that the physics part of it is one reason why such looks more graceful to the eye during certain movements, but I think appearance wise, such also creates a straighter "line" (like if you held a string from outstretched hand to toe). Like how some people may prefer "leggy" women. A celery stick just looks more graceful and expressive than a stocky pickle. I think in more recent times they've tried to move away from that being a de facto standard body type in some circles but not sure how successful that's been.
  24. That clip had me imagining the film Legend turned into a Disney-fied animated film. Legend actually ruined me re: giant horned devil-like appearance chrs...I can never see one without thinking of Tim Curry, now.
  25. Weight was why I was/would never be a serious ballerina. Too much muscle weight development (vs. height, especially) when I exercise that much. I could be in the bestest shape in the world and they'd all tell me I was too large. Not that I ever wanted to be a pro ballerina. edit: not that that has much to do with physics (I think). Just a "graceful lines"/light on one's feet type of look expectation while dancing thing.
