Thread pruned. To repeat myself: it's fine to state your opinion re: the tombstone situation, but let's try to stay away from blanket marginalizing of groups/people's mental states in the process. It's neither helpful nor productive.

Would definitely have been bleak! ... but I might've liked that ending more.

Agree with the others, a nice job you did with those. <----My cat Mr. Black approves of the black panther one especially.

Oh aye. He was very good. I've always liked him. Although, ever since Jim Carrey has made fun of those automobile ads on SNL, it's been difficult for me not to picture those at times, when watching Matthew. edit:

Pretty sure they've said no official modding tools will be released, only that they'll try to keep things as mod-friendly as possible for those who want to attempt mods (some already have). I haven't heard anything about Steam Workshop. Romance ... lots and lots of past threads on that topic, all the way back to Kickstarter. Probably won't happen. Wouldn't count it totally out for sequels perhaps but, heh, I gather it's probably not one of their priorities. Never know, tho! If you'd like to share why/what you like about romances in games, we have a thread for that discussion here.

There was a bug/glitch/whatever with loading times, something about the longer you played/bigger the saves and maybe some temp files that are created during saving get, the longer quicksaving/loading and loading in general became. I haven't yet experienced it myself but it was supposedly addressed in the patch - however like with all such issues it might still not be fixed for everyone.

constant random crash
LadyCrimson replied to davidbowie's question in Pillars of Eternity: Technical Support (Spoiler Warning!)
You can cut/paste the text and put it in BBcode spoiler tags so they aren't as space-hogging to the eye, if you wish. [ spoiler ] text [ /spoiler ] (remove the spaces after/before the brackets) -
Watched the rest of Interstellar. I liked it quite a lot up until the ending, which used time paradox and lack of any real explanation for its kewl ending premise. Made me go "huh...ok." But worth the watch and for some that type of ending is probably awesome. It just makes me scratch my head, tho. Kinda like 2001. I liked the robots. I've known some people I wish I could've turned their humor % down on, at times.

Possible Controller support?
LadyCrimson replied to Ben9902's question in Pillars of Eternity: Technical Support (Spoiler Warning!)
Officially? Probably not. This isn't the kind of game/GUI designed for them. Stuff like xpadders might work to force it, tho. Don't know, haven't heard anyone mention such yet. -
I'm a completionist (have to do/see everything at least once). I can be cruel. If I have to. Do I get to tickle him with the feather from my hat until he cries uncle?
-
Is that really an option? If so ... DANGIT, I missed it. Now I have to re-do that with another chr.

I was using hammers, saws and nails when I was 8 or 9, building knick-knack "shelves" for myself out of scrap wood.

But the secret! I had to know the seeeecrriiiiiiittttttt.

I am not sure anyone (who posts on these forums) has actually finished the game solo yet, let alone done so on multiple difficulties to assess what's accurately possible. I haven't paid super close attention to those threads, but it seemed like they were still in the process of attempting it (maybe I'm wrong on that). So I and probably many others can only guess, based on what we've seen in the game. My guess is that without "cheese" - depending on one's definition of cheese - it would be pretty difficult to accomplish on anything above Normal.

There's been some threads in the Character Builds/Strategies forum on this subject, including this one. Might want to look around that forum for others as well. ...but in general, I think it largely depends on what class you pick and of course gear planning. Some classes just aren't well suited for it.

I was more affected by the sidequest of getting a boy a dagger, because my actions had consequences, even if such was only as an inconsequential byline. I wouldn't be surprised if some missed that. Not that it was tragic or made me sniffle or anything close, actually it kind of made me giggle (I'm evillll I guess), but it was a nice touch is all. Derrin's was sad and nicely written I thought, but a little too common a theme for me to feel much I suppose. EDIT: So far the only thing to affect me that much was the tutorial. Because

I tend to pick Human a lot, mostly because they're often the generic-bonus types in games. And even when they're not, it's sort of just habit by now. Human/Monk Human/Fighter Elf/Cipher Aum/Barbarian ...since I haven't been terribly keen on the casters in PoE so far, I'm leaning towards liking the fighter class the most.

Testing custom portraits because I want something different. Works fine. What to use then ... besides my cat.

I'd love a Star Trek game (and not a MMO one). I just haven't seen one that interests me enough to even try it, yet.

Yeah, it just takes getting a little familiar with the game and the differences between the old IE games and PoE. Because even tho it harkens back to those old games, PoE is very different from them. I started on Normal and was curious about the other difficulties so ran some of the same areas with Easy and Hard to see the differences. I think I like Normal, for my style in a party-game. Single-chr. games I tend to go for more difficulty but parties are different things, to me.
-
On Easy if you want to not have to micromanage as much, you really need the party of 5-6. Something like Radric's hold at lvl 3 is pretty tough with only 2-3, but take in 6 and it's waaaaay easier. So play long enough to find/get the early companions (there's 4 very quickly if you follow the main quest path and explore maps a bit to find them) and/or hire/create more at the Inn's when you have the coin. Two fighter/tanks types in front, the rest ranged of some sort (wands and bows + spells) and you likely can, most of the time, just focus on the fighters while the others are support. That said, there will be fights/enemies/areas where this doesn't work and you're going to have to step in and do a lot of micro-managing and constant pausing.

I haven't had any issues/noticeable glitches...which makes me nervous about patching it (haven't done so yet). I tend to have this thing with games lately where I'll initially have none of the bugs everyone else has, until the first patch - then suddenly I have them. Then a 2nd patch fixes it again. Or something. Anyway, makes me reluctant to patch games initially.
