  1. The really sucky thing, IMO, is that this place was starting to get that old BIS feeling. I mean, look at who all joined/has been posting a lot in the last month: Draconomicon (formerly Draconis), Zot-Fot-Pik, Sargie, etc. I was starting to feel like I was at home again (hey, I was there for poolofpoo's "Does Aerie take it up the hershey highway?" thread, back in April of '01, though I didn't post much back then). Now, it feels like the BIS/Bio split and Fargo's leaving Interplay all over again.
  2. I've wondered that myself over the last 24. DA still doesn't have its own publisher, and Bio is constantly growing. Could they be trying the Blizzard route?
  3. I'm not giving up on these boards yet. So long as there's still life here, I'll keep posting.
  4. Seriously, though, the calling people "crybabies" and whatnot needs to stop. There were many productive members of the OE NWN2 forums who have had both their community and those ideas/concepts that they contributed to ripped up and moved to another forum where a significant number of the posters say things like, "Why change NWN's formula at all?" and, "That concept art SUCKS!", as well as being 6 months behind on the info for NWN2 and not caring to do what is necessary to catch up. I think, given the history involved here, it is only natural and to be expected that there would be community members who feel some grief over the breakup of their e-neighborhood, and I think that it isn't too much to ask that said individuals be given a proper period of time to air their grievances. So, please, everyone, lighten up on the name-calling, and let people speak their minds.
  5. Thanks for that, Phosphor. At least there's a bit more communication going 'round this time.
  6. Man, TORN being revived would be awesome.
  7. I trained with the Togakure Ryu. Does that count?
  8. I'm a ranger, not a ninja, nor a pirate.
  9. Look at the NWN2 forums, and you'll see.
  10. I was wondering for a moment, there...
  11. I'd just like to throw my vote in the hat for keeping the Obsid NWN2 boards open.
  12. Well, I'm at work, working on the web page, and I come here to visit like I normally do, and there's no one here. Has the move just killed the community? I hope not, as I enjoy these boards quite a bit, but I realize that there were many unhappy individuals yesterday afternoon (can't say I was too pleased with the move, either, though I do like seeing Bio and OE employees posting on the same website again--that said, I would have preferred to have this site's NWN2 forums still up), and that some may have left due to feeling betrayed. So, who all is still here?
  13. This isn't a problem for the Exile. Hope that makes sense, and it avoides "new padawan" and "amnesia" tricks.
  14. Well, I read like a year ago that he was active at Forgotten Wars. However, I never saw any posts by him.
  15. Maybe he had a map and a compass. Really, finding people through the force is completely over-rated. I mean, you can create planet-sized star destroyers and hyperdrive engines in this galaxy yet no-one thought to invent the phonebook? That's got to be first on the list in any civilized society. What if you need a plumber or an electrician?! Any sort of book would be nice really. How many books have you seen in SW? They don't have book one. Where are all the ****ing books?! How much shorter would Empire Strikes Back be if Luke just went to the library and picked up The Bumper Book Of Jedi Wisdom? Instead he gets his pits sweaty on some crappy planet made entirely of swamp. And what's with the swamps anyway? Yoda's 900 years old and can juggle fighter-ships with his mind but he's never heard of land reclaimation?! The greatest mind of the Jedi Order for a millenium in a hypertechno sci-fi galaxy and he couldn't come up with something that a few stoned dutch people knocked up within minutes of the industrial revolution. He was probably distracted by something shiney. <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
  16. Wait--it isn't?
  17. Don't think this is a spoiler, but it isn't having the NPC in your party that enables you to get a PrC, but the events that cause said NPC to appear.
  18. FV works, FA doesn't work at all , and FS only gives the extra attacks & fast movement. That said, FE gives you 1 1/2 force powers at a cost of 15 FP, which is nice.
  19. It's given an in-game reason why. It's entirely consistent with the story, and IMO was handled very well.
  20. The Scouring of the Shire and Tom Bombadil freeing the Hobbits from Old Man Willow. Man, those were brilliantly done! Oh, and Glorfindel glowing with the light of Valanar! Awesome! Oh, wait...Jackson didn't even script those scenes for the movies! How could I be so dense? Honestly, Fellowship was my fave movie. I hated TTT, as it deviated too much from the source material, and was just not done well IMO. RotK I had some issues with (most notably being the abscence of the inestimable Mr. Christopher Lee, and Legolas' slaying of the oliphant), but was markedly better than TTT. Favorite scenes: Moria (excellently done); the introduction of Strider (just how I had always pictured him sitting); Strider saluting and then slaughtering the Uruk-hai on Amon Sur; the Marshes (gave me a great creepy vibe); Sam vs. Shelob (poke that Attercop!); and some others that I can't think of right now. Of course, IMO the most beautiful thing in the movies was Hobbiton; man, that was just gorgeous.
  21. Read Colossus, by Dr. Niall Ferguson, and you might get some understanding of why one might believe that.
  22. I have an almost-one-year-old daughter, another baby on the way, a full-time job, a part-time small business, writing that I have to do, school activities that I oversee, and a dog. I'm too busy to have a life.
  23. Assuming that you mean here, well, Feb. 7, 2004, 7:26 PM: Having devoted a great deal of free time to KotOR2 over the last month, I feel justified in having made this proclamation. Though I do have problems with KotOR2, it's still better than any RPG that I've played in the last 3 years (sorry, Volo, but I don't count HotU as a full game, otherwise it would get such praise).
  24. Good reply, Sargie.
