  1. No, I started because everyone at work was smoking around me all the time. I cannot stand to be around cigarette smoke when I'm not smoking; I sneeze, tear up, and cough uncontrollably. Finally, one guy suggested that I try a cigarette and see if that would help. Remarkably enough, it did. Course, it became a need/habit a few months later, but at first it was just a way to work without coughing up a lung every few minutes.
  2. mine's always first, as well. it's just a feature of the board.
  3. Well, no one was commenting at the time at the Lair, and I go to both places, so...
  4. And now I'm going super manic. Fun times!
  5. BG3 is being made by Phillip Morris. I crave nicotine. The End.
  6. Someone in another thread a few weeks ago mentioned another developer who worked with LucasArts. Those developers were contractually obligated to not discuss the game in any fashion until 6 months after release, according to this poster. If such a situation has occurred here, then that would explain dev silence.
  7. Oh, I'm active. It's a comparison thing. I exercise frequently, rarely just laze around (unless there's a really good game out), and stuff, but compared to how I feel now, I must have been a couch potato. Seriously, all my limbs are super-light right now, and I'm needing to burn off some extra energy before I explode.
  8. yeah, same here. so why did i start? compared to how energized i feel right now, i must have been really damn lethargic for seven years.
  9. I'm quittting smoking. A little history: I started smoking after I left Mercer. Never was a big smoker, never could make myself smoke more than half a pack a day. I've averaged about 5 or 6 cigs a day for the last 3 years, all but one at work. For the last five days, though, I've had only six cigarettes, and I'm going nuts. Interesting side-effects: I have lots of energy. I mean, lots of energy. I can't stand still, can't sit still, and want to go pump iron for a few hours. WTF?! It's not like I don't get enough exercise as is, now I feel like I have to do it all the time. Also, I'm rather manic, and my temper is coming back. It's going to be rather interesting from here on out.
  10. I've been using it for several months both at home and at work.
  11. Blast! Cheater! *hands over cookie*
  12. Plippy Ploppy Cheesenose. No? Okay. Eblis O'Shaunassey. cookie to the first person who can correctly identify where these two names come from.
  13. It was originally dark brown hair. I went through some early screenshots/movies and the opening bit on the X-Box version, and compared that face with what's available. What I found, interestingly enough, is that the long haired Middle Eastern face is that face with a different color scheme. What makes it interesting is that that face had texture and coloring issues that no other face had in the game: sometimes the skin would turn from an olive-brown to nearly completely green, and at other times the hair would be visible through the lower left cheek in conversations. I don't know why they changed that face, as I felt that it looked better as it was originally designed.
  14. Hmm, and this announcement comes, what, less than 2 weeks after the US PC release? Not bad for a small developer.
  15. I just read books one and two a couple of weeks ago, and, to be frank, don't see what's supposed to be so great about them. <shrugs> Pratchett & Costikyan are both funnier IMO, and Pratchett tends to be more topical. Grant & Naylor were better with Red Dwarf by far. Sorry.
  16. Ah, I see. Never really understood that argument, myself. But, two of my all-time favorite games are Galaga and Metal Gear Solid (#0 and #1, respectively), followed by Ps:T and KotOR2.
  17. pwn3d. Seriously, though, the percentage of gamers who visit the game's forums is small (something like 10% last time I read), and any polling that is done on a forum is by its nature skewed. If polling were mandatory, then maybe we'd get a semi-accurate depiction of what percentage of gamers are having significant problems with the game. As is, though, those who haven't experienced any major bugs in a game are most likely to be wooed away from polls by a combination of 5000 other interesting topics, rampant whining, and out-of-control fanboiism. As a result, any poll results from a game forum should be taken with a grain of salt (actually, a whole freakin' bushel of salt, but you get the point).
  18. I hope that it will be some easier than Ninja Gaiden. Geez, that's the most difficult action game that I've ever played. I did get past the first level, though (made it halfway through before I had to return it; no late fees for me!), so hopefully I'll be okay.
  19. I love that site...
  20. ...troll... Oh, and not news.
  21. I didn't like Troika. Arcanum was fun, enough at least, but it was the ToEE debacle that put me off to Troika. That said, I am saddened by their closure. Why? It's not just the human perspective (having been unemployeed after a company went bankrupt can make one very sympathetic), but that Troika never learned. That's the kicker for me. I would much rather have seen them learn what they did wrong, correct those mistakes, and release games which lived up to their grandiose promises, than go under and be no more. Unfortunately, it was my experience that they preferred to ignore any sort of criticism (constructive or otherwise) and focus on the fawning of the former Fallout fanbois. This, then, was Troika's fatal flaw: not the production of buggy games, or their constant blaming of publishers for all their problems, or failing to deliver on even the simplest promises, but failing to learn from their errors and make the corrections neccesary to keep them a viable CRPG developer. For that, even I will mourn Troika.
  22. 28, married, a 1 year-old, and another on the way.
  23. NAS Jax? My dad was stationed there.
  24. I bought a Presario from Wal-Mart about 18 months ago for $523 (all I could afford at the time). Came with the processor, 128 MB RAM, 40 GB HDD, some kind of onboard S3 video card, and a CD-RW. I took my GeForce 2 out of my old computer, stuck it in the new one, and when I had some free cash bought a stick of 256 DDR.
  25. Is this regarding "KotOR: The Chosen One Must Choose"? That FPS total conversion mod that mgnails was promising way back when?
