Even in my little experience in Spanish, I find that this is the case, although most people I've talked to said they understood more that 20%. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Oh, I understand more than 20%. It's just 20% that I don't understand. Sorry for the confusion.

Snood. Hey, I'm poor and I just reloaded my computer Saturday. Haven't had time to reinstall any games.

Sorry, but before you attribute an author's name to a book, make sure that you have the right author. Lewis Carroll wrote Alice in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass. Clive Staples Lewis wrote "The Chronicles of Narnia", The Screwtape Letters, and other works. The first took pictures of naked preteen girls, the latter was a highly respected author and professor. Biiiiiggg difference.

Whatever you think of NWN, it's music is well-done

<groan> Well, at least he didn't say, "I think that Jeremy Souled out with NWN." See, it could have been worse. -

Yeah, that came across a bit harsher than I intended. Apologies, Volo. As to the board rivalry, I prefer these boards to Bio's boards (in my experience, the Bio boards are more restrictive than the WotC boards, and that's saying quite a bit), but don't think that posters are inherently better or worse at either board. I can't believe that you didn't like IWD's soundtrack! Philistine! I only played through the game once, and I still recognized its music when Interplay put some in for BG:DA2. That opening bit at the load screen just gets my adrenaline pumping. -
No, I haven't had a chance yet this evening to do it. I didn't even really notice until I was shutting off my work computer, and I have pathetic dial-up here at home so I won't even try posting from here unless I have to. Bio has been good about mentioning OE whenever they make an official statement, I just don't think that they go far enough at times. This might be a limitation of that awful, awful board software that they have, that they can't really make banners like I would prefer, which I would understand. I plan on emailing Jay tomorrow about some ideas.

In my experience, Dakoth, the difference is much more significant than the difference between American English and British English. I can always get the gist of what a Brit, Aussie, or Canadian is saying in English, but about 20% of the time I don't understand more than 2 words per sentence that a Mexican may say in Spanish (even with all my exposure, there are still words that I don't know).

That's getting really old, Volourn, and I wish you'd stop. Though I disagree with your opinon that the NWN soundtrack is one of the best ever, that's just a matter of personal preference, not due at all to your self-imposed status as "stupid BIoware NWN fanboy". I haven't even seen anyone call you that in quite a while. To the subject at hand... I found Soule's work on NWN to be less than inspiring. Sure, HotU was pretty good, but IMO it pales in comparison to the soundtracks that he did for the original Icewind Dale (the Kuldahar theme is one of my all-time favorites, with its haunting melodies) and Dungeon Siege (I found the entire DS soundtrack to be inspiring). Of course, if you want to talk good game soundtracks, you have to talk about MGS3; Harry Gregson-Williams does a score for that game that surpasses by far his work on The Rock and The Replacement Killers. If you haven't heard it, it's worth finding and listening to. -

Hmm, just picked up Complete Adventurer after work, and took a look at the new bard feats and PrCs. One of the new PrCs takes the bard back to his 1E incarnation, while leaving him with a 3.x feel, and those new bardic music feats are ungodly powerful (one grants damage reduction 5/- for all allies for a full turn!). Combine these options with those presented in the Eberron campaign book, and suddenly the 3.x bard is a darn good class to pick.

Eh, what can I say. I live my life based on moderation in all things. However, I consider this to only be the ethical and not moral scale of the DnD alignment system.

1E Bard. Had to have skill in stealth, combat, and magic before you could become a bard. Essentially, you had to be a fighter/thief/druid, and then you multiclassed into a bard (and, yes, the 1E bard focused more on divine spells, rather than the arcane spells of 2E).

'Nuff said. Think I'll pass.

Do you mean John Constantine, the Hellblazer? Didn't know there was a movie in the works.

Old-school, like Run? Sure, but nothing since '90.

Sorry... MGS2. I was expecting a continuation of the story from MGS1, with some resolution to the FoxDie situation and Snake eventually having to confront President Sears (Solidus Snake). Instead I get a fragmented story where the most Snake I could squeeze in was 2 hours worth, and then I get an androgyeous whiner and ridiculously complex conspiracy theory (word of warning to all writers out there: the more complex a conspiracy, the less probable that it becomes). Furthermore, the second "half" of the game was a straight copy gameplay-wise of the previous game, with no real innovation. I bought a PS2 for that game, and had waited months upon months for it, and was so disappointed that I nearly swore off any MG game from then on. Thankfully, MGS3, though not as good as MGS1, was infinitely better than the horror which was SoL. -
Trials of the Luremaster was an free expansion made by BIS after fans complained about Heart of Winter. It is wonderful.

McDonald's used to be fair as far as fast food goes. Now, though, it'll cost you over $5 for a Big Mac extra value meal, the meat in the Big Mac is smaller than the patty in a regular hamburger, and all of it tastes like crap. Plus, they changed their fry oil, so the fries don't taste right anymore. I no longer go to McDonald's at all (not that I ever went much). BTW, anyone tried Hardee's Monster Thickburger yet? I had to try one just to thumb my nose at all the obesity claims and whatnot, and it was reeeelllly good. -
Well, that was a huge disappointment. Still, Roethlisberger did wonderfully for a rookie.

If it were to be built in the US, five would get you twenty that it would be put on a Rez, after the people who called the Rez home were moved out to some desert scrap of land that no one would want.

And proud of it!

The Black Hound, also known as The Jefferson Project and, later, BG3. It was being produced by BIS before it was canceled. The game looked as if it would be the perfect CRPG. I especially liked J.E.'s plan of including a glossary/dictionary to explain terms and concepts that the PC would know but the player might not (thus avoiding the common "innocent farmboy" syndrom of much fantasy, both fiction and game). I was devastated by its cancellation, and quit going to the Interplay boards afterwards. I wrote a petition to WotC and Atari that they relent and allow Jefferson to be completed, but to no avail. I still hope that one day J.E. will be able to implement his design ideas in a fantasy CRPG, as I felt that many of his decisions were a needed breath of fresh air in the CRPG industry. -
It's not just you, Percival. I've noticed it as well. The DA forums over there are a madhouse, and the NWN1 boards have always had topics disappearing to the second page so rapidly that it is hard to keep up. In contrast, I've hung out for five hours at the Bio NWN2 boards only see about seven posts added to topics in the General Discussion forum.

Memengwa, I understand how you feel, but Obsidian had no say in the matter. This move was orchestrated by Atari, who is the publisher for NWN2. Hopefully, something good can be salvaged from this. If you would like to express your discontent over this move with Atari, I would suggest writing a letter and mailing it to their customer service division. BTW, is it safe to assume, given what your sig states, that you have created some custom content or have run a PW for NWN1? If this is the case, I'd be interested in hearing whether you ever felt that the atmosphere here at the Obsidian boards was "trollish", "unpleasant", or "hostile to CC creators". Thank you in advance.
