Korriban looks, to me at least, to be a victim of LucasArts pushing the game's schedule ahead by 2 1/2 months. While Korriban is supposed to be a dead world, it feels extremely dead: only two quests, and one person to talk to (if you can call it talking). It would have been nice to see how Korriban would have been different if my theory is correct.

The terminal is the only way you can get in, I think. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> No, 'cause I agreed to help Luxa, and told the door guard that Luxa sent me. He told the receptionist that I was coming in and ran off. I then entered the building.

I think female PC's get jipped out of a cool power

It does work, but the adjustment doesn't show up in your "Equipment" screen. The adjustment does, however, show up on your "Character" screen. Unfortunately, Force Armor and Force Speed show no adjustment on either screen. -
No, I also don't believe that the Masters would have been able to do it. Had they had time to continue, I believe that they would have been "wounded" as well, by creating a new wound in the Exile. Look at it this way: the Exile's wound was caused by him carrying around the deaths of Malachor V with him constantly (he really needed to confront his past in a concrete manner in the game and put those ghosts to rest). In trying to sever him, they would have magnified that wound (by adding another wound to the original), causing the Echo to increase in volume and deafen them to the Force (not an unpleasant prospect, considering they propose a kind of death rather than any attempt at healing). Of course, the other possibility that I see is that their attempt to sever him would have removed the Echo, thus allowing the Exile to fully hear the Force again, and remove his status as a "wound in the Force". Either way, things wouldn't have gone as planned. As for what Kreia did, yes, I consider it betrayal. She practically undoes all the good that the Exile tried to accomplish in his attempt to restore the Jedi Order (this argument only makes sense from a Light Side perspective, of course).

this game went wrong terribly wrong...

Hey, pedophilia is not allowed on these boards, so cease AT ONCE! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> North American Man Boy Love Association makes it ok. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> That is not funny. NAMBLA is a blight upon the Earth, as is anyone who preys sexually or otherwise on children. As someone who has done a lot of work with abused children, I don't find that humorous at all. -
Possibly, but why? EDIT: Regret, love, friendship, compassion, these are all emotions that Kreia abandoned before TSL. In fact, she specifically criticizes each of these at different times: Regret is really fear of your actions, love is weakness and an illusion to manipulate, friendship is a useful tool to manipulate others, and compassion deprives others of the strength that they might need (her words, not mine). I just find it a bit too convenient for her to suddenly express regret in the final battle, when she was so dedicated to her role as a Sith Lord that, while she takes pride in you offering her a route to salvation, she turns it down so that the apprentice may kill the master and become the strongest Force User.

Well water beats city water or bottled water hands-down in my experience. I've recently cut back my soda consumption tremendously (easiest way to get caffiene is from sodas, and, yes, I am a caffeine addict--I get massive migraines if I don't get enough caffeine), and have been drinking lightly sweetened tea (sweet tea forever, Di!) and water from our well.

I've played a Watchman, but not an Assassin, so I don't know how much advice I can really give you. In my experience, the only good things a Watchman was good for were the skill points and the Niman style (which made up for some of the penalty for TWF). Stealth, while actually having some use in this game as compared to KotOR1, is still mostly useless, thus rendering Force Camoflage less than desirable. Sneak Attack, while nice in theory, never worked for me that I could tell. As far as I know, though, there is nothing to balance the Assassin and Watchman re: Sneak Attack levels, unless the Assassin doesn't get Improved Force Camoflage. Anyway, if you're looking for super power, your best best is probably to go with the Sith, as all the Sith PrCs seem to be more powerful than their Jedi counterparts. That said, the Jedi Weapon Master is still a good choice, and one that I'd recommend.

Whoa! It's the return of everyone's favorite triple-voiced poster (or is that posters)! It's beginning to feel a bit like the old BIS boards here. Welcome aboard, Zoq, Fot, and Pik.

If you drink fruit juice, make sure that you dilute it. It contains too much sugar otherwise. Yes, it is fructose rather than sucrose, which makes it less harmful to you than sucrose (won't say better for you, as no sugar is actually in and of itself good for you), but too much can still lead to high blood sugar if it's all that you drink. Water is still superior to any other type of beverage out there, and is the most important food group (why doesn't the FDA put that in their stupid food pyramid?). Vegetable juice is second, with milk third and fruit juice fourth.

maybe kreia was lying the entire time, such as she lied about the force bond being fatal. theres a reason she was called darth traya. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yeah, I covered that possibility at the end of the first post. It's the only one that really makes in-game sense to me. After all, Kreia was a manipulative, lying schutta through the entire game, why would she be honest at the end?

Well, OSW, assuming that your question isn't rhetorical in nature, I'd have to say, yes, she did hate the Jedi Order. After all, even after being exiled from the Sith, she still held to their teachings and viewed the Jedi as "weak". When playing my want-to-atone-and-be-a-Jedi-again character, she never had anything even remotely good to say about the choices that I made. She constantly criticized the Jedi for seeking peace and understanding rather than conflict and strength. She wipes out those Jedi that you manage to find, rather than instructing them in the truth of the Exile's nature (rather odd, when one considers just how much of a pedagogue Kreia was). Finally, she says that the Exile is not really a Jedi, and that's why she loves him. To me, this all suggests that she still hates the Jedi, as much if not more than she hates these new Sith. Now, if on the other hand, your request for answers was directed more at the plot and writers, I can't help you there. I don't particularly care for TSL's approach of letting the player infer everything about the plot and backstory; it just feels lazy and pretentious to me ('course, this could also be due to it being pushed forward two months by the publisher, and I will make allowances for that).

Wait--you can use the terminal? The only way that I had found to get in was to agree to take care of the Quarren for Luxa. Well, I'll be darned. Lemme guess--it grants you DS points to kill the guard and use the terminal, right? Yet I gained no DS points for the method that I used (which was good, as I have never been able to play evil characters).

From whom? There's no one on Malachor V with a space vessel.

Okay, so Kreia mentions that the real threat to the galaxy is the "True Sith". I know that some people here really love this idea, but I have several serious problems with it: 1. How are they the "True Sith"? According to a KotOR 1 loading screen blurb, "True Sith did out millenia ago. The current Sith are followers of an ideal, not a race." Further, the Sith were originally just a primative people that the Dark Jedi conquered and bred with. How can there be "True Sith" way out there who are in no way connected to the Sith from the EU stuff. Sounds like a very poor plot twist to me: "Oh, we Sith didn't die out, we just left the galaxy and founded our own empire!" Give me a break. 2. Right, so Trayus Academy was founded by these True Sith and actually grew from the destruction of Malachor V. Not only that, but it keeps calling people to it to join the Sith. Um, okay, just one question: How? It's not like there's anyone there to communicate with people, and I have never read nor seen any Star Wars stuff about a planet so consumed by the Dark Side that people can feel it from across the galaxy. Further, how did it survive and grow? It's an inanimate object, for crying out loud, not an actual creature. 3. Okay, so Revan leaves his space ship, his friends, and everything else to fight these True Sith. How? How the heck is he even supposed to get to the True Sith if he has no transportation? How is one man (or woman, depending on your preference) supposed to take on an ancient evil more powerful than either the Republic or its version of the Sith? Does he just walk from planet to planet, cutting a swath through his enemies, who cannot find him even though he's the only freaking Jedi (assuming good Revan) in their entire empire and cannot help aiding the less fortunate? This bit of the ending made the least bit of sense to me. Basically, the only way that I can make this whole "True Sith" nonsense make sense is to view either what Kreia said as a lie (well, she lied to you through the whole game, why not when she was about to die and you were reforming the very same Jedi Order that she hated?), or that it's meant to be some obscure metaphor directing the player (NOT the PC, but the actual player) to go out into the real world and fight Sith-like ideals here in our reality. Either way, they're both highly unsatisfying.

Gives you Force Valor, Force Armor, and Force Speed at the highest levels that you have them in one easy-to-cast ability. However, given that Force Armor is completely broken and Force Speed is only good for the increased speed and attacks and NOT the Defense bonus, the utility of Force Enlightenment is called into question.

I'm posting this in the SPOILERS forum simply so that one piece of info won't spoil anything for those who haven't played yet. I have several major gripes with the treatment of Jedi Guardians in KotOR2. The bulk of them stem from the Force Jump/Leap ability of the Guardian. I'll detail the gripes in a nice little numbered list. 1. Force Jump pt. 1. Guardians get the shaft through the first half of the game. How? Well, Force Jump is utterly useless until you rebuild your lightsaber. The Sentinel and the Consular both get to use their special class abilities throughout the game (even if there are fewer enemies who stun you, the Sentinel's Force Immunity still comes in handy in the early portions when enemies Critical Strike or Sniper Shot at you), but the Guardian has nothing. The Guardian gets no use whatsoever from his special abilities and class-specific feat (Weapon Specialization: Lightsaber) until he recieves his lightsaber, which in my playthroughs was around level 13 (just to put it in perspective, upon leaving Peragus with my various Guardians I was level . It would have been better if you got your lightsaber earlier in the game, because as it stands currently the Guardian is a wasted class until level 12-14. Now, I know that Guardians get more feats and VP than the other classes, yet they also recieve fewer FP than the others, and since WP: Ls is a class-specific feat that counts as a class ability, they end up unbalanced when compared to the other two classes in the first half of the game. 2. Force Jump pt. 2. Ugh, I hate how I will leap towards an enemy, get halfway there, have a cutscene trigger, and find myself back where I started before I leaped with my party members already fighting the enemies. Not only that, but for some strange reason, though the game says that I'm already engaged with an enemy, my character stays where he is and makes no move to attack the original enemy unless I manually order him to attack a different enemy and then reselect the original enemy. This is pretty flaming annoying, let me tell you. 3. Party Member AI. I realize that there is a series of feats that allow bonuses for party members ganging up on the same enemy, but do they have to gang up on the same enemy all the freaking time? I mean, for crying out loud, my Guardian can take all the enemies in single combat. It would be nice, then, for the other party members to keep other enemies occupied and off his back. Further, the ganging up means that half the time my Guardian doesn't have a clear path to the next enemy, and so by the time he gets around his companions to the enemy in question, their already dead thanks to the party members. Finally, I enjoy the new animations, but when using other party members I don't get to see them, because when they all gang up the enemies go down in 1-2 rounds. It would be nice if all this were rectifiable by queuing actions for your NPCs, but the AI kicks in as soon as gameplay is resumed and overwrites your commands. Not fun. Anyway, these are my main beefs with the treatment of the Jedi Guardian in this game. Anyone else experience some of these same issues?

Influence/Conversation Questions
deganawida replied to Lady Revan's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Re: T3-M4 You have to have an Intelligence of at least 16 and good Computer Use to see the holorecording. I achieved it by using a Valor power, having on a Tech Specialist Belt, Exchange Work Gloves, and a Bothan Sensory Visor, and rapidly clicking through the dialogue choices before my Valor ran out. 'Course, I was never able to completely repair T3, so I never got the "Moving Meditation". What exactly does it do? -
Everyone in my game are Jedi so it can be done. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I also have all my convertable characters as Jedi. However, that isn't what I'm referring to. In order to keep my Light Side Mastery bonuses (BTW, is this a bug, or was it intended this way?) this late in the game (about to head back to Dantooine), I don't have time to influence Mandalore, G0-T0, or Hk-47. Since gaining influence with all three of them means gaining a substantial number of Dark Side points, and there aren't many places left in the game to get Light Side points, I'm going to have to pass on getting influence with them.

There goes 35 hours....
deganawida replied to OremLittleKing's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Have to agree with OremLittleKing, here, on virtually every point. Though these characters were arguably better written than the characters of KotOR1, I never once grew attached to them (though I came close with Mira, it's just too bad her story is dropped). There was just something...missing from them, something that kept them from being characters that I loved or hated. Instead, I was mostly apathetic to them. Though I maxed out influence with almost all of them, this was done more out of some feeling of duty rather than desire. In fact, much of the story of the game was like this for me, in that after Telos I found that I had little to no emotional involvement in the plot. Was it well-written? Yeah, those bits that were actually written and not left for the player to infer what is going on. However, the story-telling flat-out sucked. KotOR1 was not that well-written; it had 2-dimensional characters (with a couple of exceptions, such as Jolee), a very simple plot (rescue the princess and defeat the evil king), and a "twist" that was telegraphed as soon as you reached Taris. However, the presentation of KotOR1 was far superior to that in KotOR2; it got you emotionally involved, and made you feel as though you were swept up in events beyond your normal world. KotOR2, though, didn't have this; it had the plot points, but none of the details to really make it a story. It felt more like a story outline, where all the important plot points are pegged, but none of the details as to why these plot points are important. . This game had real potential, and though I enjoyed it my feelings on the game can be best summed up as "empty" (ever notice how small the worlds are, and how few people are in them?) and "bare-bones". -
Favorite Saber Colors

When playing a Weapon Master, I have found that single saber is the way to go. Juyo automatically grants an extra attack, thus making a single-sabered JWM equivalent in number of attacks to a dual-wielding non-JWM. Also, Dueling helps offset the penalties to Defense that using Juyo incurs, thus meaning that you only take a -1 to Defense rather than a -4. Further, the +3 to attack means that you have an increased chance of hitting with the super-damaging strikes that Juyo gives you, meaning Critical Strikes, Power Attacks, and Flurries become that much more powerful and useful. Aesthetically speaking, I prefer the single because it is the traditional style of the Jedi, it's what I would most likely use, and because the animations for it (with the exception of Master Flurry after level 20, which looks dorky no matter what you're wielding) look more impressive. Heh, on Nar Shadaa, in the Jekk'Jekk Tarr, my Guardian was a freaking whirling dervish of destruction, and just looked incredibly awesome (too bad that time I went with Watchman rather than Weapon Master). My only complaints with Dueling as opposed to Two-Weapon Fighting stem from Dueling being significantly weaker until one is able to get Master status feats and powers, as well as Juyo. The 1 1/2 times damage is nice, but when starting with a Strength of 14, that only means 1 extra point of damage, which is not that big of a deal. It would have been nicer if the Dueling feats had granted a +1 to Attack, Defense, and Damage, with the extra strength bonus added in, as that would help compensate for the extra attack granted by TWF.

I just turned Bao-Dur into a Jedi last night. He was by far the most difficult to train. Basically, I had to have him in my party every time I did a good deed, and in most other scenes as well. I knew something was up, though, when I got a new Ebon Hawk scene, where he was sleepless over Malachor V. The drawback to having Bao-Dur in your party all the time, though, is that it means you don't get as much influence with your other characters, which means you may miss out on cutscenes with them. The game is just too small to influence everyone favorably.
