  1. So, if we can't solve a quest or find an npc all we have to do is go talk with Ydwin on the boat?
  2. Can someone create a watercolor version of this one? Thanks.
  3. This is very interesting. I've been considering not using my Druid for my first Deadfire playthrough and choose a more pirate-like character. A rogue looks like a good alternate choice, so I'm glad to hear that the single class is not bad, although I'd probably prefer a swashbuckler (streetfighter/unbroken). Maybe I could turn my third character into one. She is a priestess/rogue* but she's been gradually rejecting the Skaen cult. Maybe she will lose her powers at the end of PoE, just like some people believe happens with Durance. And she is from Deadfire, despite no evidence of a human royal family that I know. *See this cool Boeroer's build to understand why I already have a "multiclass": http://forums.obsidian.net/topic/83225-class-build-schemers-needler-roguelike-skaen-priest/
  4. I really like the 2D portraits. It's not uncommon for me to be in doubt about what class/race I want to play. Then I look at the portraits and find two or three that I really like. After that I try to match one of them to the class/race combinations I'm considering and decide, based on the portrait, which character to play.
  5. I might wait a week or two, but only because I'll be very busy at work in the beginning of May. And by "wait" I mean "play whenever I can and start again after two weeks if I decide to change my character".
  6. - A dwarven companion - More subclasses, escpecially for priests - Something set in the White That Wends or in a Island near there - A Polpovir* pet, if it is not in the game yet *From the in game book "Monsters of the Deadfire Archipelago":
  7. Oh god... is it gonna be like in the first PoE with the backer npcs? Oh Godlikes are so rare and mysterious! Literally every other NPC sitting around is some special snowflake godlike. That was specially annoying when I played as a Death godlike. Everywhere I went I saw another one, so it gave me the impression that nobody would look at me twice. Edit: typo
  8. Maybe he seems evil because he wants those things to happen. But I agree with you, I didn't get the impression of evil during his quest. I'd love to play as one of his priests and do whatever suits him without actually being evil. I wonder how Rymrgand would behave if he got his way and most souls were fragmented into oblivion. Would he try to destroy the other gods then? What about him, does he want to be the last sentient essence? Will he gladly end himself then?
  9. They need to keep the options from the first game for those who will import their characters. I'm confident more options will come with expansions (hopefully something related to quests or the story). Some priests might conflict with the story in the first game, like Woedica and and others seem to be too different from normal priests (Galawain's are hunters, Ondra's are giftbearers, Abydon's are smiths, Hylea's are artists...). Not that the Watcher couldn't be different, but Rymrgand does seem to me the best choice for the next one. New godlikes would be good too, ice specially.
  10. Yes I agree on DOS1, I had the same experience. The story was generic and badly-written. I can say that DOS2 is an entirely different beast. It's still whimsical at times but it is a massive improvement on DOS1 in the storytelling department (and every other department). The last battle in DOS2 was so funny for me. I was going to give up and try again because two of my characters died and the other were almost dead. Then the last boss slipped in a puddle of ice and was killed by two storms that I cast before dying. I had no idea of what was going on, but I had beaten the game and the ending animation started.
  11. I remember killing Simoc and leaving the baby with his son or someone else from his tribe. I think it was implied that the baby would not be in danger anymore. But I'm seriously considering selecting everything in Deadfire and not importing my game when I play with my first PoE character, just to have Vela with me. She is having so many adventures with my third character right now. Who would think that a newborn baby can climb down a cave shaft and take a nap during a dragon fight? I do have two of those helmets that become useful at the end of WM2, so I think she'll do well there too. I have screenshots of most ending slides. Otherwise I'd have forgotten too.
  12. Just did it. No other purpose than comparing, right?Well...maybe give us a hint at which decisions are going to carry over into Deadfire. If that is the case, then we'll be seeing Uariki (the apprentice in Cragholdt) again.
  13. I actually wouldn't mind seeing this in the game. My Bleak Walker would throw the stalker in the dungeons, but since we don't have one in the sequel, then the companion would walk the plank. Even people who let the stalker follow them would have to reconsider once they started a romance with another character. It simply wouldn't be ok to have the stalker there, all jealous and sharing the campsite. And if the stalker stays for too long, the "break up" might be complicated.
  14. Nudity? Nothing new for my character, a Druid in PoE 1. So, what about Hiravias question? Will our companions be naked in the bathhouse? Will we be able to open the character screen and see them naked? I'm asking for purely scholarly purposes, of course. Josh did say something about delving into godlikes, right? https://twitter.com/jesawyer/status/973323231410012160 Btw, if Pallegina has feathers in her hair and fire godlikes have fire, then...
  15. I wish there was an easier mode in FTL As for the story in rpgs, it is not that combat is more important, but that on your third playthrough you might be more interesting in trying different builds and tactics. It depends on the player, of course.
  16. False... Story and overall experience are much more important to veteran players than challenging them to 200 fights and memorizing tactics. I myself am a veteran player with seemingly too much knowledge for the game than my own good allows. Intesting characters and story should and will always keep a game interesting, if they are playing a video game in today's age just for challenge and find nothing else about said game that appeals to them then they are playing for the wrong reason. As Pillars was designed to be this (a story driven story rpg), I'm highly offended as its my favorite game ever. Just so you know. Notice that I didn't talk about playing on a challenging mode, but on a mode above the one you consider easy. As I mentioned before, PotD is not challenging all the time for me. If there was another level above it maybe I wouldn't play on it. If I only had the choice between easy and challenging maybe I would prefer the easy one. But it isn't the case here. So even if I want to enjoy the story, I prefer to do it on PotD. Maybe you are doing just what I said. Give it a try, start a game on relaxed or story mode and see if you won't think it's too easy. Maybe you'll prefer to restart on classic. You'll still be able to enjoy the story. If it's all the same to you, story, relaxed or classic, then why are you going to play Deadfire on classic? I imagine it's the mode you feel comfortable, not too easy and not challenging. In that case what I said is not false. After 720 hours on PoE, I became good enough to play on PotD without a challenge all the time. But In most games I don't go beyond normal.
  17. As others have said, if you play on a difficult setting you consider easy, then it'll be boring and you won't continue to play. So, much more than feeling proud, what matters is enjoying the game.
  18. So it seems. And who knows, maybe a miracle happens and after some time you find an egg in your room.
  19. Do you wanna know why people play on PotD? Start a new game on a lower difficult level than you are used to. See how interesting it will be. You can still roleplay a different character, but combat will be ridiculous. Once someone gets used to PotD, hard and below will be boring. It's about the challenge and thinking more carefully on your strategies. Personally, I don't care about achievements, I disabled them on my PotD playthrough because I have a custom party and I like to use the "manage party" command. Then I can do the companion quests without having to go to a tavern or Caed Nua to change characters.
  20. My first PoE playthrough was on normal and it was no challenge. Even the last battle and the Endless Path boss were easy. Then I played on hard on my second go and it was much more satisfying. For my third playthrough I had to try PotD and it was quite challenging, specially because I didn't have a fighter to distract the enemies. I had to reload many battles, but eventually I learned how to proceed. I played the WM with my first character last month and I had to change to hard. But then even that seemed too easy. No, I'm not trying to show how pro I am. The difficult of a battle can drastically change depending on your actions. For example, using certain traps and figurines make a huge difference. You have time buff your party, you can cast stuck and paralysing spells on the enemy, and so on. As someone already said in this thread, PotD is not that hard once you learn what to do. One my favorite strategies is to cast lightning bolt, rolling flame and overwhelming wave before the battle even begins. Then they will come after my party, safely waiting behind a turn. But they won't all come together, since some will be stunned by the wave or petrified/hobbled by traps. Toss some figurines, Confuse and other spells like expose vulnerabilities and you might even forget your are in PotD. For Deadfire I'll start on hard to have a proper challenge. But later I will probably only play on PotD.
  21. Did that one already: https://forums.obsidian.net/topic/91743-portraits/?p=1977992 Oh, sorry. I don't remember all portraits from the thread...
  22. This one is for my playthrough as a priest/templar of Eothas. Not sure when it'll happen, but can someone please make a watercolored version? This one is not a request, unless someone else wants to ask for it:
