The Master Below [SPOILER ALERT!]
If she was young enough when she escaped from the massacre, she could become a priestess of Skaen, even being aristocratic. As for royal, I don't think there are any human kingdoms in the Deadfire, so I actually turned her into a raider for the second game. Edit: they did predict that somebody would play as a Skaenite aristocrat. Here is that dialogue just before the endgame:

He might not have needed assist if he had lubed his head up with soap. Like Brazilian coatis: "Ring-tailed coatis anointing with soap: a new variation of self-medication culture?" https://cloudfront.escholarship.org/dist/prd/content/qt1dq4s4p5/qt1dq4s4p5.pdf?t=oro85p&v=lg "We observed them rubbing laundry and cleaning substances onto their bodies." "It was most commonly self-directed (self-anointing), but also sometimes applied onto others (allo-anointing), or sometimes performed collectively and in close proximity to other group members. The genital area was the most often rubbed location, followed by the tail."- The Master Below [SPOILER ALERT!]
That is a very interesting character and is the one I chose for my first Deadfire pt. She is a human that escaped the Deadfire Archipelago after her (royal) family was murdered (let's assume there is at least one human kingdom there, but not in the area we see in the sequel, since it doesn't exist in the game). Think of her as Arya Stark, from Game of Thrones, but from a royal family that was completely murdered. After that she went to the Dyrwood and became a priestess of Skaen because she thought her family was oppressed (that is how she sees it! ). She was cruel only with criminals and people who caused her trouble and although I avoided the benevolent disposition as much as possible, she was actually a very good person. As the game progressed she got disappointed with Skaen and abandoned her class (in Deadfire she is an assassin). Being an aristocrat, she had an interesting conversation with Skaen just before the game ends. He didn't acknowledged her as a one of his priests and said that if was not for Woedica he would make her suffer for oppressing others. Skaen willingly submits to Woedica, so he has no right to talk about oppression and that was the last straw in my character losing her faith. That is a good reason to fight the dragon.- The core of the problem: you are a pirate

That's ok. We just pretend that fog is common in the Deadfire archipelago.- The Master Below [SPOILER ALERT!]
I agree. I played as three characters in PoE1: - The benevolent one wouldn't let the dragon escape and hurt more people - The Bleak Walker felt challenged and wanted to show who is the real master - The priestess of Skaen saw it as an oppressor and you can guess what happened later- Portraits IV

Ok, I'll have to check how that works eventually, no problem. Nice build!- Building a party of 5 to have fun in POTD
Very interesting thread. I'll probably only create a full custom party in my third or fourth pt and that will be next year or later... But I'm already taking notes. Btw, is there a build for clothes users? I'd love to have an efficient character with the Principi's clothes or the Dancer's outfit.- [healer support build] Theurge "My pocket Healbot" - custom+Tekehu build variants
Sorry if it is a stupid question, but I don't use the AI so, is this built supposed to work with the AI? If so, did you customize it yourself or do you use the options included in the game?- The core of the problem: you are a pirate
InsaneCommander replied to Matteo89.b's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire Stories (Spoiler Warning!)My watcher is a pirate, but I still want it to make sense when I attack someone. So, I would frequently try a different flag and "forget" to change it back. That way I can fight even the Principi and I can pretend the companions won't complain. "Come on Pallegina! We were doing a quest for the RDC, that's why we displayed their flag! Unfortunately the VTC ship wouldn't let us explain..." Silly, I know. In future pts I may actually have to find a reason to attack other ships. My benevolent character will probably hunt pirates and be attack by the factions I don't support, but she won't attack the Vailians. My stoic/rational will side with the RDC and he will attack everyone except his allies. And he will be a terrible captain (I want to see the mutiny).- Portraits IV

InsaneCommander replied to Matteo89.b's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire Stories (Spoiler Warning!)Mine came much earlier. I was going straight to Rekke and I had the event near the place where he is. Do we know what triggers the event? Does anyone know how far is the fog of war? If it is too close it might actually be unrealistic. If it is not, I'll want to play with this every time.- Patch Notes for 2.1.0.0034
InsaneCommander replied to David Benefield's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire Announcements & NewsSorry if this is obvious, but I'd like to know for sure. Does this mean we get another chance to name it later?- Petition - Do we want to see the game made harder on POTD on the late levels? Please voice your concern here
InsaneCommander replied to Teclis23's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)Interesting ideas. I really like the gunpowder one. A npc could warn the party before they go in there. Or a note in a dead body. Also, make an autosave and unless somebody passes a survival check, the party goes right into the trap.- Will any of the DLC increase the level cap?
InsaneCommander replied to mychal26's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)I forgot to say, even with level scaling there were many areas that became easy for me in veteran. Since I reached the higher levels, only the DLC was satisfying difficult. So definitely turn up-scaling on.
