  1. I though my house was haunted.... it wasn't. He's still alive and gone now. Actually I didn't really think the house was haunted since 1) I don't really believe in ghosts, and 2) I built this place (actually I had Jim Walter Homes do that but still)
  2. I bought a copy of John Grisham's Gray Mountain at the DFW airport to read on the plane this morning. Frankly it stinks. About 100 pages in I realized I really didn't know what was going on and I didn't care. That guy hit big on one or two books but he's just mailed it in since. I gave the book to the guy in the seat behind me. He was going on to Louisville and hopefully he'll like it better. If not that book might have three owners in one day
  3. Hey Leferd, I'll trade to a great all position player and a so-so shortstop for a so-so catcher and two of your best prospects. Sound good? http://m.mlb.com/news/article/106088942/rays-trade-ben-zobrist-and-yunel-escobar-to-as-for-john-jaso-and-two-prospects
  4. Take the test http://dogtime.com/quiz/dog-breed-selector What a surprise, according to the tests the Doberman Pinscher would be an ideal match. I could see that. They are lively, active, need lots of exercise. It's like you with 4 legs!
  5. I haven't read this thread, and I'm really not up to that mentally right now. Let me just say that nothing is "free". The state of Georgia already has free CC for anyone who attended K-12 in the state, all paid for by the state lottery. I'm all for that. But this is nothing the federal government should be involved in. This isn't it's job, this is not it's responsibility, if it were about subsidizing a state effort to some extent that would be different but it's Uncle Sam coming into the State House, shoving them around and saying "You will do this". That is not a good thing.
  6. Today I attended a class on asynchronous Ethernet connections via LTE network. I'd tell you it was fascinating stuff but that wouldn't quite be true. However, this is a new product we are selling so I paid attention. Back in my hotel room now. I don't think I'm up for another 18oz steak so I'm probably in for the night.
  7. Hmmm... according to The Grilling Book by Adam Rapoport & Bon Appetit (right here on the shelf next to me) we're BOTH right. Vinegar and mustard based sauce is referred to as Carolina style. Which I will agree does go better with brisket and beef but when it comes to chicken or pork, sweet is where it's at. But the truth is there are no wrong answers when it comes to that.
  8. Thursday night I'm going here: http://www.texaslandandcattle.com/ Probably Friday too!
  9. Actually the best sauce I ever tasted came from this roadside dive in Asheville NC. It was a molasses based with sweet chilies & Dr. Pepper. You could put it on your shoes and they would taste good.
  10. I live about 15 minutes from there. If you have any questions, ask away. Oh I'm quite familiar with Dallas and Plano. Ever since I got into the Mobility business I can't seem to stay away from there. And I'm flying after all. Ugh. I'd almost rather be killed than subject myself to that.
  11. I am VERY envious, I have never been to Texas and I desperately want to. I have watched loads of cooking shows about parts of Texas so I would also be eating Texas barbeque every night as well ....have a rack of ribs for me Oh the best BBQ is right here in my home town. Texas has nothing on Memphis on that note. An North Carolina? Please. Someone needs to tell them that a mustard based sauce is an affront to nature!
  12. Going to Dallas for work on Thursday. Plano actually but it's the same thing. I'm thinking of driving. I hate flying these days. It's more trouble than it's worth. The upshot it I'm going to Texas Land & Cattle for dinner. Every night.
  13. The Lakers are a mess. Kobe is sort of a one man show and now he has to make the coaching decisions too.
  14. It's the same thing. Bruce Banner was experimenting on human performance enhancement, just like Barry Bonds and Mark McGuire. Actually Bonds might have used the same radiation: 1) Started out skinny & nice, check 2) Ended up big and an asshle, check 3) Lied to everyone about his secret, check 4) Unable to speak in complete sentences, check 5) Refers to himself in the 3rd person, check.
  15. Watched the Grizz beat the Lakers last night. Great game. 1/3 of the way in and we're in 1st! The Mavs are close behind, just two games back in the loss column. This has been the best NBA season for me yet.
  16. It's steroids
  17. Very busy today. I've got the Winter Classic at 12, go Blackhawks, then the Rose Bowl go FSU, then the Sugar Bowl, go Bama. I may not get out of this chair all day.
  18. Happy Thursday. When you get down to it that's all it really is.
  19. Here we go. The solution is to restrict the freedom of millions of people who did nothing wrong because of the handful of nitwits who did. I could easily make the argument the all violent video games should be banned because studies prove exposure to violence in video games causes violence in kids. After all no one was shooting up schools after playing Pac Man
  20. We talked about going to Vegas today but it just seems like such a hassle. Instead we're going to make a homemade pizza and watch Seinfeld DVDs. Who knows where that will lead? Actually... I have a pretty good idea
  21. Oh I wouldn't read too much into that. All of our threads derail wildly around here. Anyone who spends more than 5 minutes on this board knows that if your looking for rational psychological advice you've come to the wrong shop. We're all somewhere between mildly dysfunctional to downright nuts around here.
  22. Please tell me that was not intended as the worst pun... ever!
  23. It would not surprise me if a few opposing o-line guys get together one Sunday morning and decide to "take care" of that guy once and for all. The league isn't going to do it and it's only a matter of time before his malice put someone out for real.
  24. While there should be no restrictions on gun ownership there are, and should be restrictions on concealed carry. I don't know where this happened but in my state proficiency and safety training are a requirement for a Concealed Carry permit. It seems like both might have helped here. But the truth is we are all adults and it is incumbent upon all of us to act in a responsible way and at first glance that does not seem to have happened here and something terrible happened. Besides, she may very well have completed the proper safety training and still done the wrong thing.
  25. The more I hear about this the more convinced I am there is a rat in this somewhere. We haven't seen it yet be we can surely smell it.
