  1. Happy Birthday TN
  2. I went to Nashville for a job interview today. It went well I think and I'm expecting an offer. It would have to be a hell of an offer because we'd have to move.
  3. The Monsters of the Mississippi have slipped a little. They are 6-4 in their last 10 but are having trouble putting together back to back wins and the Rockets are getting hot and creeping up behind. Not worried yet but... well, maybe a little.
  4. Bring back any memories? So, so many. 25 years this year and I still remember our SDI and DI's names, platoon number, drill commands, all of it. I was 17, on firewatch in the recruit barracks looking through the porthole to the blinking lights of Mission Hills, the same place I was at this week, as a senior citizen of 42. I think MCRD San Diego would be harder to deal with. Parris Island is remote. When you are there it is nothing but Marine Corps as far as the eye can see. By the end of Forming Week you hardly remember there is anything else. In San Diego it's all around you. It's a funny thing isn't it? Boot Camp is such a small part of the Marine Corps experience but it's always the thing you remember the most. MCT was more physically demanding than boot camp. Hell PT in the fleet was often more demanding with real consequences for not doing well in it. I was in for five years. I served in seven states and five countries. I met countless people but the three names I remember the most are Sgt Crosby, Sgt Cundiff & Sgt Simmons. Strange how that works.
  5. Bring back any memories?
  6. I thought Nimoy's final tweet was poetic: RIP
  7. Hey look who's back in town. How you been Cant?
  8. That it was all done behind closed doors and enacted in secret is particularly worrisome. As is the story in CNS that the FEC was consulted.
  9. USA Today is predicting a Warriors-Cavs finals. That would make this thread interesting at least. Like having Volo vs Leferd in a steel cage texas death match!
  10. I LOVE Verzion's response to this pile of BS: For those not familiar with old technology that is morse code. It was the preferred method of communication when the law that now governs internet traffic was written.
  11. This is much ado about nothing at the moment but it can (and probably will) be a segue into more sinister things. My two biggest problems with it are 1) It is NOT needed. It is a solution in search of a problem. 2) It was done in secret, by an agency that is not accountable to anyone that refused to even talk to congress about it. That bit about tyranny might sound a little looney but there is more than a grain of truth in it.
  12. Nice! You get the best vacations.
  13. It might be you are just what they are looking for. Good luck!
  14. I had an interview today with the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation today. About five minutes into it I was wondering what the heck I was doing there. They are looking for someone with a Geotechnical, Environmental, or at least Civil Engineering background. I have a BSEE and 20 years of RF/Electronic experience. Nonetheless it was a pleasant conversation and I gave a good account for myself. I showed I was a quick study and that I paid attention in my Fluid Mechanics class. I seriously doubt anything will come of that but it's always good to get interview experience.
  15. Wow this thread is old. You guys have been fighting this modern war for almost 2 years.
  16. Show up naked with the Illuminati pyramid painted on yourself and start screaming about LizardJews. Guaranteed success. Consider it done!
  17. I have a job interview tomorrow. I'm not sure why they are interested in me because it sounds like they need someone with a civil engineering background. But I was invited to apply by a friend and then granted an interview so what the heck.
  18. I think this is exactly what happened. When you compare LotR with what was being made during that timeframe is was an achievement but really only if you consider the whole project as one thing.
  19. I'm surprised American Sniper didn't win any of the big prizes considering how popular it was. But I didn't watch the show. I'd rather was bugs fly into a zapper or something like that.
  20. Yeah, I'd say this is all pretty much on the money. With the exception of the third act of HotU the official NWN material was god-awful. There were hundreds of hours of decent to excellent user made modules though. But you had to shuck a lot of oysters to find those pearls. And it was difficult to string enough of them together in to a campaign for one character. NWN2 was a lot better as far as the quality of the writing, quests, and overall plot (no surprise considering who wrote it), but it suffered from engine limitations. BG I & II were lightning in a bottle though. You can play a lot of games and never find one you like as much. Why do you think folks are still playing them after all this time?
  21. Yes. The first two trump the last one.
  22. I'm playing a riddle game by e-mail. It's kind of hard but fun too.
  23. Chris Bosh is out for rest of the year.
  24. Sam Adams Cold Snap ale. Good stuff.
  25. Start by taking her out to dinner. Then see where it goes.
