Valentines Day
It's almost 2 AM here in TN. I'd bet most of the Americans posting on the board right now are at least a little drunk, I've lost the cap to my bottle of fine Kentucky sour mash, you know what that means.

Valentines Day
I'm not following you? Are you going on holiday for Valentines Day? Bah, the rest of the English speaking world does not know the difference between holiday & vacation. Americans & Canadians have figured it out, what the can't the rest of you? No we're not going anywhere. In these parts a holiday is something like Christmas or Valentines day. It's a day on a calendar rather than something you actually do . I know it wasn't really, there actually was a St. Valentine, but it seems like the chocolate, greeting card and flower companies got together in a smoky room somewhere and invented a special occasion to sell their stuff. Then the completed the conspiracy by convincing the women of the world that the quality of the gift they get indicated how well the relationship is going. Okay makes sense, does Steff not like flowers and romantic things...you are a newlywed afterall ? Now before you misunderstand me when I say "romantic " things I dont mean your normal Tennessee romantic gift of a bears brain fresh from the kill or something similar. I mean something like chocolates or lingerie or perfume I can't top this!

Interesting developments in some USA Media circles
I really like The Newsroom. Wish they hadn't changed the intro tune in season 2. Season 1s was way better. ACN would be the news I'd watch. As I mentioned I love The Newsroom but if you asked me what I found unrealistic is the way that they are all so witty and clever, no one is that clever all the time When I was growing up we had one of the old 10' satellite dishes. Back in those days you could get the live feed from the networks, no commercials. So we got to see what the news anchors did when the commercials were on. It gives you a real insight into what kind of people they were. I remember being impressed by John Chancellor from NBC, he was always nice to the set crew. Dan Rather and Tom Brokaw were total jerks. An amazing amount of rehearsal when into what they were going to say though. Very little of what happens on the camera is spontaneous.

Marksmanship is a perishable skill. You gotta practice! The best thing about where I live is my range is my backyard. I can fire a 165 grain .30-06 in any direction (except the driveway) and hit nothing. You know you're jealous Woldan!

Actually my favorite post-Katrina lies the media ran with was stories of cannibalisim. If I were a resident of NO I'd be morally offended at that. If they were eating eachother after just 4 days they had to have least considered it previously. I know that was not your point Grom, I just remembered that as being one of the more outragous instances of media sensationalisim.

I wouldn't go heaping too much praise on the media self regulating. They only "come to Jesus" when someone has been caught red-handed. If this could have been swept under the rug it would have been. Remember Dan Rather. He went on the air with stories of questionable veracity all the time and when he got caught red-handed he castigated the people who exposed him. As for Jon Stewart he was not the first Daily Show host, he won't be the last. But he was funny. He definitely put his stamp on it. The truth is network nightly national news is probably going the way of Saturday morning cartoons. Between the internet and cable new networks is something of a dinosaur that should be put down.

Scope at 10x, and I think those groups are not so great. I usually shoot like this with my handloads at 100 meters (5 shots): Holes not touching = no-go. The 22lr has definitely less accuracy potential than center fire calibers. I've never tried hand loaded 22LR but I do know there is a world of difference between HV & MV as far as accuracy goes. I have a Henry Acu-Bolt and with HV & a bench rest it's effective out to 200m

there is something wrong with Gromnir and plants. we have a black thumb. dry Gromnir's corpse and turn us into a fine powder. make some kinda aerosolized solution from the powder and am certain you end up with a better defoliant than agent orange. is moderate embarrassing just how bad we is with plants. HA! Good Fun! I can't take much credit for it. The soil here is just great for growing. The presence of two rivers close by and the fact this land was all wooded before I cleared it five years ago gives it a moist dark color with a fair amount of decomposing bio matter from the trees that were here.

Started preparing for the spring garden today. It's going to be a full acre this time (based on me pacing it off). Still not 100% what we're planting but summer squash & zucchini is a must.
