Wow! Now this is what I call throwing a torch in the hay barn and walking away: http://news.yahoo.com/outgoing-obama-adviser-john-podesta-s-biggest-regret-of-2014--keeping-america-in-the-dark-about-ufos-234149498.html- 488 replies

Bruce, that's just a silly question... Is it..why do you think its silly? Because of course I only date Batgirls, silly. If only they weren't so hard to find!
-
I've got similar conspiracy theories about Easter and Mother's Day too if y'all want to hear them. Actually, you just did!

I'm not following you? Are you going on holiday for Valentines Day? Bah, the rest of the English speaking world does not know the difference between holiday & vacation. Americans & Canadians have figured it out, what the can't the rest of you? No we're not going anywhere. In these parts a holiday is something like Christmas or Valentines day. It's a day on a calendar rather than something you actually do . I know it wasn't really, there actually was a St. Valentine, but it seems like the chocolate, greeting card and flower companies got together in a smoky room somewhere and invented a special occasion to sell their stuff. Then the completed the conspiracy by convincing the women of the world that the quality of the gift they get indicated how well the relationship is going.

No they are 2nd in the west, 1st in the Southwest Division I think Randolph should have gotten in as well as Gasol. Z-bo is 7th in 3pt, 4th in rebounds, 4th in DDs and he's AHEAD of Gasol in 2 of those. At least our Gasol anyway.
-
Bah. Made up holiday that no male with a significant other can afford to ignore.
-
For the ream with the 3rd best record and 1st in the west the Grizz got no love from the All Star game. Gasol was the only one to get in and he's not even our best player.

Interesting developments in some USA Media circles

I really like The Newsroom. Wish they hadn't changed the intro tune in season 2. Season 1s was way better. ACN would be the news I'd watch. As I mentioned I love The Newsroom but if you asked me what I found unrealistic is the way that they are all so witty and clever, no one is that clever all the time When I was growing up we had one of the old 10' satellite dishes. Back in those days you could get the live feed from the networks, no commercials. So we got to see what the news anchors did when the commercials were on. It gives you a real insight into what kind of people they were. I remember being impressed by John Chancellor from NBC, he was always nice to the set crew. Dan Rather and Tom Brokaw were total jerks. An amazing amount of rehearsal when into what they were going to say though. Very little of what happens on the camera is spontaneous. -

Marksmanship is a perishable skill. You gotta practice! The best thing about where I live is my range is my backyard. I can fire a 165 grain .30-06 in any direction (except the driveway) and hit nothing. You know you're jealous Woldan!

Actually my favorite post-Katrina lies the media ran with was stories of cannibalisim. If I were a resident of NO I'd be morally offended at that. If they were eating eachother after just 4 days they had to have least considered it previously. I know that was not your point Grom, I just remembered that as being one of the more outragous instances of media sensationalisim. -

and that's at the local level Yep. Didn't suggest otherwise. The municipal governments can be every bit as intrusive, abusive, and evil as Uncle Sam. Sometimes more so because they get less scrutiny from the press and voters usually- 488 replies

A bigger example of government run amok; http://www.cnsnews.com/news/article/rudy-takala/federal-election-commission-consider-regulating-online-political-speech The left is all for free speech as long as they approve of what you say.- 488 replies

I wouldn't go heaping too much praise on the media self regulating. They only "come to Jesus" when someone has been caught red-handed. If this could have been swept under the rug it would have been. Remember Dan Rather. He went on the air with stories of questionable veracity all the time and when he got caught red-handed he castigated the people who exposed him. As for Jon Stewart he was not the first Daily Show host, he won't be the last. But he was funny. He definitely put his stamp on it. The truth is network nightly national news is probably going the way of Saturday morning cartoons. Between the internet and cable new networks is something of a dinosaur that should be put down. -
At least she is out of the hospital Raithe. Those placed are no good for anyone!

Got the Grizz/Nets game on the radio now. The Grizz are in total control and still going strong as the season closes in on the 3rd call marker.

Was it just me or is the plot of a lot of Miami Vice episodes a little hard to follow?- 488 replies

Scope at 10x, and I think those groups are not so great. I usually shoot like this with my handloads at 100 meters (5 shots): Holes not touching = no-go. The 22lr has definitely less accuracy potential than center fire calibers. I've never tried hand loaded 22LR but I do know there is a world of difference between HV & MV as far as accuracy goes. I have a Henry Acu-Bolt and with HV & a bench rest it's effective out to 200m

there is something wrong with Gromnir and plants. we have a black thumb. dry Gromnir's corpse and turn us into a fine powder. make some kinda aerosolized solution from the powder and am certain you end up with a better defoliant than agent orange. is moderate embarrassing just how bad we is with plants. HA! Good Fun! I can't take much credit for it. The soil here is just great for growing. The presence of two rivers close by and the fact this land was all wooded before I cleared it five years ago gives it a moist dark color with a fair amount of decomposing bio matter from the trees that were here.

Started preparing for the spring garden today. It's going to be a full acre this time (based on me pacing it off). Still not 100% what we're planting but summer squash & zucchini is a must.

That is a decent group at 100m. Scope or iron sights?

I was going to Kroger on my way home from the feed store. I asked Lady GD what she wanted for dinner. She said she wanted some really good spaghetti. So I bought all the ingredients and one other thing; a big can of Chef Boy Ardee crappy canned spaghetti. When I got home I put all the stuff away except that can. I put it on the stove next to a pot. When she got home I watched from the hallway. The look on her face was everything I could have hoped for. Now THAT was funny!
