Multiple cities per planet
Adria Teksuni replied to Darth Reven's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Well, I know in one area you land on the planet, then have to make your way to a Sith Temple, which I believe is underground, so it would follow that extensive multilevel maps like Taris are in the game. -
There was one INT item in the game, which you could get if you betrayed the Beks and killed their leader, I think it was an Implant that gave you +1 to INT. Other than that, yeah, not a whole lot. I think they were just trying to concentrate most on the combat attributes rather than the passives.

I'd buy that.

Interesting point, Phosphor, but the basic "rules", the Ten Commandments, are still a pretty good roadmap, especially in today's world. Only, instead of coveting your neighbour's ass, you covet his Ferarri.

Yoda, Vanda Race Question
Adria Teksuni replied to Morgan_Hearst's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Let's all follow in JawaJoey's footsteps and gear this back towards KoTOR and away from The Muppet Show. -
Guys, this needs to get away from the geopolitical structure of the Third Reich and back into KoTOR or it's going bye bye.

Best Possible Mini Game
Adria Teksuni replied to LooseyGoosey's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Yet another topic that is more than a little bit...uh... Well, you know. Consider it more than a little bit closed. -
Well, in that particular case the food issue was used as a subplot device, that's all.
-
*shrug* I enjoyed it. I had fun watching it. I just wanted more fight scenes!
-
Moving this to Off Topic, since it doesn't really have much to do with K2.
-
The DSP alone would be astronomical! Still, it would be fun... "You'se owes da boss money, pays up." *sound of lightsaber swinging through the air* DARK SIDE POINTS GAINED. Heh heh heh.
-
Let's play nice, y'all.
-
Yeah, they kept the Force Speed in there, so that should be fine.
-
Hey, guys, let's keep it on topic, kay? And as far as food goes, I've played games where the character had to eat or suffer attribute penalties, and it was just a pain in the butt.
-
Uh...since there's no more actual discussion about the topic going on....

I would think that as a successful bounty hunter that doesn't kill, that would certainly add to her credentials. Much easier just killing a target trying to kill you, than to subdue it.

*shrug* I liked Black Isle. I adore PS:T, and still find it to be the most story driven CRPG around, even with my KoTOR fangirl tendencies. Agreed with the poster who said that IWD would have been better if it had focused more on the story rather than the combat, frankly, I got tired of fighting at times and just wanted to advance the plot. Black Isle was a good company, and I think Obsidian will be a good company. I think Bioware is a good company, as well. Blah blah blah...

Romance Poll: More than two
Adria Teksuni replied to Topaz Quasar's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Haven't voted, because so long as they're well written and developed, I'll be happy. -
You may want to check out Palladium's Nightbane books for inspiration, Hades. I really like the dark atmosphere in a modern setting.

Something about the villian
Adria Teksuni replied to alanschu's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
I hated Malak for being such a poor Sith. He needed to die to set an example for the rest. Sorry, couldn't resist. Every villain is the hero of his own story. Making villains who aren't bad just to be bad is a growing concept in gaming (as in, more prevalent in the last ten years or so), and one that I heartily approve of. Even the worst monsters in history generally had what they thought of as noble reasons for their actions. The days of evil laughter and capturing the virgin princess just to slaughter her to take over the world are gone by, people want more sophisticated villains and the reasons why they do what they do. Magneto of the Marvel comics is a decent example of this. He does horrendous things, but he does it for what he believes is the right reasons, peaceful existence for the Mutants. The lines of right and wrong are blurring more and more, and the idea of "the ends justify the means" is becoming the sticking point for a lot of villains. At what point does someone cross the line from hero to villain? For those who adore character development, the addition of this take on the bad guys is a little piece of heaven. It makes them three dimensional and identifiable, rather than a bunch of pixelated images with a relatively cool costume and booming voice. They did a good job of it in KoTOR with Yuthura Ban, who became a Sith to rid her world of slavery, but got lost in the power she gained along the way, although I do think they waffled a bit with her. I would have loved for her to have something like "I understand where you're coming from, friend, but I believe I can accomplish more towards my goals by remaining a Sith and consolidating my power. If you still decide to stand in my way, then you must die." Instead we get the whole she feels really bad about having to kill you kind of thing. Of course, sociopaths are always good in writing as well. They know what's right and wrong, they just don't care. Those kinds of villains are always particularly fun to hate. Anyway, considering the past games of the former Black Isle, I'm looking forward to see what they do in K2. -
I'd prefer all VO to intermittent "Heya!"
-
If you have kids, you can't even sit down and be very still.
-
But it decreases the immersiveness when not everyone is using the same format. Either everyone has VO or no one, IMHO. And ROFL on the Kieth Richards as Sparrow, Sr.!!!
-
Well, I liked him in Pirates of the Caribbean. "Is that why he's so..." *makes movement kin to Keith Richards on stage* Although Depp did steal the show.

Unfortunately, with the limitations of CRPGs today, you have to play at least some basic concept of the developer's characters in order to have a tight story. Even in the non-Force Adept campaign being discussed on my forum, you would perforce have to play a NON-Force user in order to make the storyline work. Ah well. As far as picking pockets and such goes, I can see it being used in K2, although I'd probably never use it. They already have pick locks, which generally goes hand in hand with pick pockets in d20. Still, I can see this being of greater value with K1's storyline than K2's, where you could start out as a scoundrel and thought you were a scoundrel, and were more likely to use the skill. I just don't use my NPCs enough to worry about pick pockets. *shrug*
