You "forgot" to use the force? oh, come on....
Adria Teksuni replied to Meshugger's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Interesting! That could work, too, get pissy with the Council and they toss you on your ear. Er...so to speak, of course. -
How are romances written?
Adria Teksuni replied to Atreides's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Not to add fuel to the flames, but, accrual of experience, etc, is not character development, that's character stats and information. Two different animals. Character development is the building of a personality with a believeable background to set up that individual's motivations, moods, and dialogue style. *Adria, victim of too many creative writing classes, hides in the shadows* -

From what I understand of what I've read and the various people I've talked to, you are a Jedi veteran of the Mandalorian Wars, as in, you fought as a Jedi during the Wars. However, you become disgruntled with the Council and go into self-exile, much like Jolee did. I'm thinking that this is because you DID fight in the Mandalorian Wars, which the Jedi Council expressly forbid, and you followed Revan, who then turned to the Dark Side. This could completely turn off any character, seeing the Force as either a manipulative energy able to twist the strongest to its will at a whim (this could work for Light or Dark siders, anyone who's stubborn wouldn't like this), or complete and total disillusionment with the Council at its withholding of information as to WHY they shouldn't fight in the Wars, the story of what they did to Revan could have come out, there are a million reasons why the character would voluntarily cut themselves off from the Force and go out of practise, thus "forgetting" how to use it most effectively. Using the Force is like any other skill. No matter how powerful you are, if you don't practise, you get rusty. And sorry, Alyt, but the Council did erase Revan's mind and implant a new personality. -

Hmmm...the chorus, anyways. Heh, and the Selkath can sing "People are People" By the time they get through the first verse, the Sith will have bombed them into nonexistance. -

Someone from my site suggested "Bright Side of Life" from Life of Brian. -

ROFL!!! "Ball of Confusion" would fit in somewhere quite nicely at some point as well, most likely. Can we opt out lyrics of "911 is a Joke" and replace them with "The Light Side is a Joke" for all the dark siders out there? -

LOL, I saw "Fade to Black" for some reason thought "Paint it Black". Woohoo! A Apocalypse Now/KoTOR Crossover! The bad guy and Dennis Hopper can go get hopped up on spice together! -

And again...this is all tongue-in-cheek, NOT serious. -

This is all joking at this point, no serious intent behind the suggestions whatsoever. -
Speak on, brother sickboy, speak on.

I was thinking along the lines of a return of the DS Revan, who's theme song would be "Back in Black" by AC/DC. Or, of course, the return of a LS Revan, who's theme would be "Blinded By the Light" by Manfred Mann(sp?). Bastila's appearance could be heralded by "Bitch" by Meredith Brooks. Carth's appearance could be announced by "In the Navy" by the Village People, as the Republic Fleet is a navy of sorts. Okay, this is too much fun, and I'd better stop or I'll be here all day. -

Ya'll are just wrong! -
ROFL Well, I didn't mean for any KoTOR I characters to be a focal point or plot driving device, but for their appearance to fit in well with the storylines so that the bridge between I and II runs smoothly straight instead of going sideways, diagonally, or even vertical at times.
-
No, this is all speculation about Bastila's appearance or not in KoTOR II.

I think that's what everyone wants in terms of any CRPG, but the developers only have so much space and time...I guess we shall see!

Not to be mean, but.... Ick. Ick ick ick. Iggy and SW...not on my wildest drunken nights. -
Again, agreed. With the team that's working on it, I'm not too concerned, but if the KoTOR I deaths are cop outs, I will be highly disappointed. By "cop outs" I mean some meaningless death that doesn't have anything to do with the overall story, a la Sarah Connor's death in T3.

Agreed with both Zane and sever. To me, the important thing, above all else, is preservation of the continuity. (And I'm a Highlander fan, go figure.) It can be done, I can see it being done with everyone but Juhani, but with the being able to plug your own KoTOR ending into II, Juhani is feasible as well, it all depends on how much they can/will put into the game. Even if you killed Bastila on the Temple or the Star Forge, those places are so inherently strong with the Force that it's credible that Bastila didn't die. After all, she managed to hold Revan together when he took a destroyer blast pretty much point blank, why not herself after a lightsaber and Force battle, to escape at a later time (i.e. at the destruction of the shield or immediately prior to the Star Forge's destruction.) Also, there are other people running around during the game that we don't really encounter, who may have found her and kept her alive for whatever plot-ridden reason. Overall, Bastila returning can be done, if they want it badly enough. In addition, as far as happy endings, who says she's alive to help you out? YOU could be the one to finally kill Bastila Shan in KoTOR II.

Jeez, Kdy, get it right! So just kidding.

At first I was a believer in the fact that Bastila had to die in order to maintain the storyline, but here's a bit of what I posted elsewhere: "Fans aside, if there's something I hate, it's inconsistency within a storyline. I just don't see how they can pull off a decent Juhani inclusion without giving me that horrible hitching sensation in my chest, that causes my nose to wrinkle up and various bad words to come out of my mouth. As far as Juhani goes, the fact that she can die not only on Dantooine, but the Unknown World as well as the Unknown World just causes way too much opportunity for the whole storyline to unravel if they push to hard to keep her in there. As far as Bastila goes, I've done a lot of thinking about that from the viewpoint of a writer rather than a game player, and I think I have to revise my opinion. There are several loopholes they can use to have her make an appearance in KoTOR 2, no matter what the outcome of the game in KoTOR. Some of them are the "we never saw the body" type things, but some of them aren't, and cliche or not, they are there, and quite feasible. Same thing with Jolee and Carth."
