  1. case in point, "PC was always a little behind." The thing is, you start doing this headless chicken, "the sky is falling, the sky is falling" about --EVERY--- LITTLE --- BAD thing that happens to you, you get further and further from reality. So yeah, maybe it's a rainy day and there's lots of hail. Feel free to complain, it's understandable, but it's not the bloody apocalypse. Where I come from, bad weather is a common occurence.
  2. Prove it, Oh Omniscient One.
  3. Here's an EXTRAORDINARY POSSIBILITY, FOLKS: LA was originally planning to release the two versions at the same time, but decided not to for whatever reason. It could even be something minor, like the PC version was starting to lag behind, and in the interests of getting SOME cash on the holiday rush, they pushed more for the xbox version to get finished. It doesn't make any bloody sense for microsoft to lay down the big bucks for LA to do something financially sound anyway. Not to mention, it cuts out of their profit margin. How many people really WOULD buy the xbox just because they're impatient to play the game? And why on earth do people think microsoft would be so STOOOOPID as to believe that it would significantly increase their sales, enough to spend on relatively superfluous bribes? So maybe they'll get a few hundred more bucks, is it worth the risk without any research into the matter? If we ARE only talking about "small" bribes here, couldn't LA just laugh it off? MAYBE microsoft threatened a termination of contract, that they would support the game anymore for their system, that they wouldn't put their logo onto it, they wouldn't allow it in stores, etc... etc... But BRIBES? Have a little more creativity, people. Oh, and uh... "PRESS MEMO" classifies as public, thank you very much. What? "Oh, you don't really HAVE to tell anyone about this shifting release date dealie." Yeah, if LA puts out a press memo, you better bet it's official.
  4. I find it difficult to believe that he would randomly remember a part of his true past without having a LOT of other revelations, or at least a change or faltering in tone. We don't really know if there was any hesitation but it's something to consider. PRobably a little vague to put in the sequel, though we might incidentally find out what happened to Revan's real mother.
  5. Children are people too. I think it's stupid to bring maturity into it, but I guess I just have a thing against it. This is dangerously close to getting out of hand. They don't have to get over it. Why YOU'RE upset about it exactly is what confuses me.
  6. I don't think they're bothered too much by not being able to blast away, though the performers might be. It's more like they design the music to be looped and played over and over again, and they don't try to make it so that it gets your attention, so that it fits whatever is on the screen. A movie score can go all out because the scenes are all set up for the movie score, which is something that can't be done with a game. I wonder if John Williams just wouldn't care to do music for a game, because he has a personal relationship of some sort with Lucas, or maybe they just don't want fans of the other high-profile titles they're putting out to scream bloody murder about how unfair it is. I still think RPG fans are much more inclined to care about that, but whatever....
  7. Oh man I hope that's not how it sounds, if Sion is THE Dark Lord of the Sith and not one of the lower Sith Lords then this game just went down a couple of notches of interest due to lousy looking main villain. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> ya i hope he is just a minoir sith lord <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Think about it: They get the beta, not the full game. They say something about Sion. Does that mean Sion is the main villain for the whole game though? Is there a main villain here, or is he just the "most important guy?" Wouldn't be very star wars-ish, but it could be good.
  8. Ayne Rand? Author, wrote the giver, female. Besides that, maybe you just remembered the name from other TSL sources?
  9. As far as I know, trips can take weeks in the star wars universe, maybe months (?). Now take into account the stuff takes place on the outer rim, sometimes at opposite ends of the galaxy...
  10. That makes it difficult, not impossible. I agree those things and many more things make the possibility illogical, but is not the platypus illogical as well?
  11. I believe he was more interested in if Akari wasn't working, and thus if Obsidian was done with their part. Akari was perfectly happy to oblige with a post, and it's his choice to come here and look at the message - they don't have his AIM, and they have no way to do anything invasive or annoying. Case in point: move along. I'm sure Akari doesn't feel all that pressured by this 15 post thread.
  12. Ironically, this is the only thing that made combat unique or difficult on the starforge. Not in a good way, either, sadly...
  13. There will be absolutely NO homosexuality in this game; there will, however, be necrophilia. Well, I'm glad they included a romance option for myself, anyway.
  14. bwahahaha! I love to be contradictory. I find it hysterical that Malak now has thirty votes (coincidentally, I'm sure) after I helped out with defining malak as non manly. I don't agree that only a gay guy would run around in skin tight clothing, (I mean, hell, who doesn't?) but the idea is still really funny to me. ATTON ALL THE WAY!! I don't think any of us need help defining manly; we all have our definitions.
  15. or maybe never
  16. You know, those new jet's going into service right now look a lot like the old ones, DECADES LATE!! I think you're onto something. 4000 years later, they should have really looked back on their sources and made absolutely certain there was no overlap - those galactic copyright laws can be a hassle. Can't you imagine that there might even be a reason for a similar design? Maybe the lambda class shuttle was based on an earlier model. Aerodynamics, physics, etc. don't change, and the nature of tech (this could be a fallacy of the Star wars universe, but I think their tech is so far ahead of ours we can't very well compare, but anyway) in the star wars is such that IT doesn't change that much over the years. The needs and uses of technology don't change much over the years, just as I could surmise the mechanics (didn't computers use vacuum tubes at one point? Well, they stay roughly the same size now, except for advances which can't be assumed in the Star Wars universe as it is now) and physics of that technology don't change much. And didn't you say that it was just very similar, anyway?
  17. Heh heh, I've always thought Malak was strangely effeminate myself. Maybe not gay, but still very pretentious and narcissistic, and with the spandex and huge body-builder build and graceful gymnast stance, it seemed like he was very concerned with his looks. Add that to his total lack of ability to plan or think for himself, well... I could imagine that he destroys planets for the hell of it during the day, and secretly sleeps with a binky and teddy bear at night. I don't know why. He's intimidating, but also not.
  18. BLASPHEMY!! You dare not to even mention story or story-related issues?? ...anyway... Like someone else said, story. I would say Atris on the side, but given that we don't technically know she'll be in the game... I'm just looking forward to the whole thing. I would've been happy with an official script of some sort that took place in the Revan series after the first game, but this is a lot better, much more than necessary. I'm looking forward to all the gameplay improvements the most, I guess, just for this being a game continuation.
  19. At least they seem to do more with that <_<
  20. I was thinking Telos Militia as well. It would make sense that their uniforms are similar to Republic uniforms. I thought the middle guard looked a lot like Marlin Brando. Is that just crazy? I thought "godfather" more than "vrook".
  21. What did they do except that in the first game?
  22. Lack of outside influence. Think about it - this is the galaxy-wide republic here. Those outside the republic don't have the power to even touch the republic. Lightspeed technology might be extremely difficult to reproduce without the right tools and resources; one possibility, I would even suggest, is that one world (or one group of worlds, the details are irrelevant) found how to make hyperdrives, and began spreading this tech to the various other worlds. The Republic could've started as a monopoly of hyperspace technology. The roman empire survived for about half a century, and the government was insanely corrupt. How did they survive? All influence was from within; the government was fairly loose, loose enough that people didn't feel so passionately as a collective to revolt. AS time went on, though, and the empire was growing stagnant (it wasn't growing, you see), and practices become more and more decadent, things went for the worse. However, it survived for a very long time before anything bad happened. When barbarians overwhelmed the romans is when the roman empire died, but even so "Byzantine" survived. Also, people might've thought the Republic was dead, but "in the end it survived," so that "the rest was history". With thousands of years, the details get vague and people aren't really sure when or if the Republic died, just as we still have trouble deciding whether Christopher Columbus was the first to discover America and thus our hero, our "founding father" of sorts, when he really just found an island and called it India. I could very well see an old empire that once existed, possibly even as a competitor to the current "Republic", which the current republic maintains as part of it's roots for whatever reason. When you're covering all these light years, solar systems and planets and whole species across the 'Republic', I also might add that the Roman empire, towards the end, was totally ineffectual for several generations before it actually fell - it effectively had no government, but was still in existence. You could say, and some historians do say, that the Roman empire was dead before it died. Travel through space might have been a lot slower a long time ago. This would produce an effect of re-inspiration, even though it would also result in some stagnation of unity. The Republic could've started out with far too much time between worlds for there to be any conflict. Once travel was easier, trade and understanding would eventually become easier, although I'm sure there would be some initial growing pains, so to speak, in the form of of "in-fighting"; and just as we in america define the winning side as america to this day (not to argue against that), the republic maintained that the winning side in whatever civil wars happened was always "The Republic". We don't actually know what definition of dead the Star Wars EU history is going by, in other words, so I find it hard to deem this whole thing "unrealistic" or even "unbelievable".
  23. I would've just liked more resolution for the first game. The ending didn't resolve anything - maybe I would've liked to hand out awards to my party members, give each of them a personal pat on the back of sorts at least, and that would've felt finished. It doesn't need to be anything fancy or melodramatic, or even without some, "what happens next?", because that's what makes a good story. No, but the canned, one-size-fits-none-quite-at-all ending didn't work for me. The anti-climactic, totally impersonal lightside ending just sucked. The darkside ending was alright, but it was still kind of short - and I would've liked more feedback than Bastila yacking at me pretentiously. Perhaps they could've done the ending cinematic for the Darkside as CGI where your fleet is converging in military formation on Republic worlds, Bastila blabbing in the background with chatter on the ships about Revan's return, something to make you really FEEL massive and powerful, something to bloat your ego. Maybe you even hear your own voice giving strategic orders...
