Um, because that's what the devs have inferred.... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Oh, really? I don't remember that. I only remember jokes about Atton being gay that the dev's made, in response to jokes about how the character looked gay. Was what you remembered in the form of a joke, or was it a rumor of some sort that someone gave you? First the bit about believing the, "Orthodox Christian" calendar was serious, that MCA said KotOR I was insignificant compared to the sequel, and now this. Are we going to start saying the dev's really DO have a no pants day, that Morgan doesn't actually do anything but horde pistachios and bottled water? Or is there something I'm missing here?

How did you always imagine KOTOR 2 to be?
nightcleaver replied to Tyrell's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Heh... well, I thought everything was good except for the ending, hehe. Unless they make a KotOR III, they had BETTER tie up the loose ends better this time... GRRRR   I didn't mean that Tyrell was complaining; but he was following that trend in saying that anything not of Half-Life 1-2 type advancement wasn't a proper sequel, and I wondered what on earth would actually satisfy people as a sequel. -
Alignment visuals and NPC conversations

Hmm.... yes, you think you see your character glowing, but then you look at him/her and they don't actually seem to be. That sort of thing. A soft glow (should be VERY subtle) would be nice. -

I dunno; it really seems to me like people just started saying, "This is just a glorified expansion pack", and it became a fad. I suspect that no one's actually thought about it, but perhaps you can prove me wrong? If not, that's fine, but I'd like to figure out why people think it's as "bad" as being just an expansion pack. -

Well... I find it unfair to be saying they, "could've done more/better". Personally, I'm surprised they were able to do so much in so little time. I don't think we can judge something like that properly - we can, however, judge what we might've wanted more of/instead. I really just wanted another KotOR fix, frankly - and this sequel more than fits the bill. The features sound like features in an expansion pack, true; but there are far more features, I think, than would be in the average expansion pack. They're TOTALLY rebalancing the weapons and skills, they're giving an entirely new storyline (that's not just an extension of the first, unlike any expansion I know of), new characters, improved character interaction... most sequels don't live up to those things, even if they've been in the works for far longer and had more tech pumped into them. I'm glad this sequel didn't follow in the footsteps of Doom 3, putting more of the same in a pretty package. If you want to go even worse, X-Com: TFTD was just a rehash with different/more colorful graphics, a couple of improvements, some bad decisions, and MORE uninspired than the first in the series... that wasn't even an expansion pack's worth of stuff, methinks. And if you think about it, before expansion packs, people were happy for sequel after sequel of the exact same thing with the exact same tech. Half-Life 2, if you didn't realize, is very much an exception rather than following a trend; at least *I* can't think of any "proper" sequels in the sense that people seem to think that sequels should be "proper". In my opinion, KotOR I is to KotOR II as BG is to BG2. I don't remember any complaints about BG2 not being a proper sequel. Maybe we're just sick of short games now? -
pin... head of a pin, silly "Ho, I can dance on the headuva pin, as well!" anyway... I suspect it's Atton. Atton is the one you talk to about what happened in the first game/your past, and it makes a lot of sense to just do that first things first.

It wouldn't have been too hard to make the plot work. The only real problem is that Bioware wanted to improve the engine, and saw a way to go that would pretty much destroy online possibility. Online wasn't a major priority, maybe not even wanted by LA, so they kept writing over that code until the engine structure was inherently multiplayer incompatible.
-
... there won't be any online play in this game. Wrong forum perhaps?
-
Actually, it's perfectly feasible, given all the hubbub about Xbox 2 launching earlier and possibly not being as good as consoles afterward, that LA won't make something like the KotOR (3) series Xbox (2) exclusive anymore.

A couple questions: I've noticed that one of the screenshots, of Onderon particular, that shows a city with tan buildings and similarly colored ground, looks a lot like a still from a movie set. Is the CG just that good, is it a picture/model idea of Onderon? (for reference: screenshot 3 of 48 on the LA website for KotOR II) Also: there's been mention of a lightsaber that is "your own", the main character's. Will this lightsaber look different on the hilt, or just have some fancy color and/or stats?

Its very hard to swallow...this new story line
nightcleaver replied to JediMafia's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Ahh, yes... just to prove my theory that the most useless, pointless, off-the-walls threads are always the one that last the longest. Anyway, they haven't given you the story line yet, so you can't exactly say it's a bad story line, now can you? Still, I see you're trying to be a good sport about how it MIGHT be bad, so I'll say that I agree to that extent; we should be a little skeptical. -
I don't think the problem is design, but rather programming and that the engine is totally broken for any multiplayer capabilities. 'least, that's the reason they've been giving over and over again. Many of these people majored in computer science - I'm sure their minds are sharp and imaginative enough to figure out ways to make it work, but they just don't have the time to gut the current engine as would be required.
-
Heh, I think Bioware likes characters/people that annoy the crap out of most people. Or maybe that's just their sick imagination.

Who Do You Want Back For Kotor2
nightcleaver replied to XboxSithLord's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Grr.. WHERE'S JOLEE?? -
Heh... no, not "T3" from KotOR 1 type shy. Might be funny, but heh... I don't think she should be arrogant. However, there are things similar to arrogant that I wouldn't mind - if she were royalty, for example, she might sort of take for granted and expect people to do things for her, but be caring and totally un-self centered in all the ways that count. Well, as long as she recognizes what's going on pretty quickly, anyway. That would fit the "archetype" of princess quite well without being a stereotype. I would really like shy but commanding. I could do without the, "secretly worships the ground you walk on" thing. That's weird, and I don't really like that in real life, much less in a video game story where it can't effect my ego at all. Frankly, I'm sick of being the center of the bloody universe in my interactions with NPC's. It gets kind of old, so I wouldn't mind people being firm with you and having a strictly equals relationship with you. And really, a romance doesn't work if the two aren't true equals. Note that that doesn't have to mean in skill - just personally. I want it to FEEL reciprocated, even if it isn't. (heh) Maybe I'm taking you guys too literally.

Yeah, I offered this before. I doubt it's in, for whatever reason - maybe Darque's right; it's not feasible. Couldn't imagine why, though, if it's just a cosmetic change.

Why everyone should be light side
nightcleaver replied to huey27's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
What makes you think the Star Forge could move? What about all the star Map stuff, the fact that those Star Maps had been made 20,000 or whatever years ago and yet still said where it was, heavily implying it as a stationary object? What about the fact that it was right next to the alleged Rakatan homeworld? -

7: I recall there being some division among people about who was the greater leader/jedi: Malak or Revan. The focus paid to Revan throughout the game likely had something to do with you being Revan. It was sort of like picking his VP; you don't want to be contrary to people you're working with, you don't want civil war, and you just want to avoid in-fighting if you want to keep your power and actually do anything with it. Malak was the figurehead in a lot of ways, as he was on the front-lines more, but Revan was the brains of the two and sat back (mostly) thinking up strategy. He was the, "man behind the mask" (or curtain). Also, I think personal shields were more the new invention, and it seems they had capital ship shields of some sort. How else would the Leviathan/Hammerhead ships take such a pounding? Heck, even the Endar Spire was under attack for at least 10 minutes or something. -
Force Clairvoyance has been said to be a bit different. It's like Prince of Persia where you can see ahead in the level, maybe a solution to a problem/puzzle/ambush. Not like Malak on the bridge talking to Saul - although you might very well foresee extra things like that, I imagine, and foresee catastrophies such as the bombing of Taris.

Wow... overwhelming T3 fetish. Heh heh. I guess people have stopped taking any of these polls seriously.

Will there be any brothels????
-
Are there any more classes, prestige or otherwise, that have yet to be mentioned?
-
Taken from another thread (someone elses question) - How's hand to hand going to work? Stances/attributes/feats involved?
-
Err, I think the more specific wording was, "More useful". I don't know if that means more useful in lightsaber fights necessarily, but hopefully not.
-
Yeah... didn't that come from IGN or something? They were being smartasses about how LA was considering February 2005 as Winter 2004. It wasn't LA's joke, it was the media's joke - LA would, if they were going by the "Orthodox Christian Calendar", definitely specify that. And if they did that seriously, well... it would be a joke anyway. People don't just decide to use the chinese zodiak calendar for release dates, do they?
