Work on lightsaber combat
nightcleaver replied to AH_Solid_Snake's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Err, except the other end flies around and hits your face, not to mention the restrictions on movement due to said problem. You couldn't aim the saber forward horizontally and move it in front of you at all, not without splitting your torso in two or switching one of the blades off shortly. Anyway, I agree that two blades is physically more effective, but it would take considerable training to start with. In fact, I would almost say it should require a couple levels of dueling or somesuch to do - mastering one saber before adding another into the mix. Even then, it should require an initial feat of, say, ambidexterity, attainable only when choosing feats at first level. That would simulate a character who's good at using both hands interchangably... Besides that, the rash of two-sided and twin bladers is absurd (not directed at you, this is just how I feel about it). The thing that makes it so unique is the sort of skill it requires, how flashy, and thus how rare it is. Drizzt is a boring character, so I can't imagine how it started... -
Umm... I just stated friggin' facts. Not in that I was right and you were wrong, but yeah... I was hoping to "debate" rather than "argue," but I recognize now that you're incapable of doing that. I'm sorry if I bothered you with specific evidence. Before, people were just telling you that you were wrong. I gave you reasons, and you're obviously more bothered by that. If you can't think of something to say back, then fine. Saying, "this doesn't look like an alcove" would also be fine.

Also: the door is different, not rounded for the walkways of the Ebon Hawk (and consequently square), and the room is larger than any of the rooms of the Hawk except for the main room - which it isn't, unless they added a few walls and put up an x-ray poster. It could be another room, but again - remodeling - you'd have to knock out a few walls and add that thing in the center, which is likely a cry storage/bacta tank.
-
Ermm... because you broke out of it. Or someone broke you out of it. The highly dark room could be, err... because it's dimly lit. And like someone said, the Leviathan was originally a Republic ship. We were never on a definitely "sith" ship throughout the game, though I admit the black backdrop of space, dim lights, and red lights all made the scene sinister - but not necessarily Sith-like. Still, the ship might be a Sith ship, I just don't think those things you've said are necessarily definitive of a "Sith" ship, and if it were as I suggested, and the ship had been abandoned with you on it to break free/have a mysterious malfunction break you free (another situation is that it wakes you prematurely, and then you bust yourself out of the tank desperately) it would be pretty dark and sinister, both in mood and appearance. If you have another problem with this theory, like bacta tanks can't be shattered by anything short of a pound of C4 (which would probably shatter the controls nearby), feel free to express - I don't know what's necessarily going on here.

I think I heard they were adding more stuff to the traditional alien language loop - I'm not sure though. Not like it would make a huge difference - after the first game, you really don't want to hear it anymore.

Sparring and Practice Duels
nightcleaver replied to The Omnifarious Host's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
And excessively boring. -
I'd like this, though it couldn't be implemented seriously. I can imagine having the same dialogue response made by the NPC's to stupid, vague comments by the PC, making it so if the PC is stupid enough he doesn't quite even know what he's saying. That would be funny, but it might not be realistic - people wouldn't normally respond without any hesitation or confusion. It would be sort of like Lassie, if you think about it.

Questions the the Devs - Take 2
nightcleaver replied to EnderAndrew's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Right... there's a chance he'd get it from somewhere... -
Ummm... wow... hahahahha... (not laughing at you, laughing at the comment) Are you aware that threads that have nothing to do with KotOR II or anything else with depth or interest on this forum? We haven't even begun arguing yet. No, it's not important, we're just squeezing every last drop of anything we can get to discuss.
-
Differences: No panels in the KotOR II shot. The areas to the left and right obviously lead elsewhere, whereas the KotOR II shot has alcoves in those places. Otherwise, neat idea - I just assumed the center thing was a medical vat, but looking at it again, it could be a communication center thingy like the one on the Ebon Hawk.
-
I was thinking - with the big broken medical vat in the middle - that this is where you wake up. At least, I was thinking you might wake up in the middle of the medical area, whether that's related to the other concepts or not.

Yup, it's in there. Check out http://www.lucasarts.com/products/swkotor/G_gallery.html If you want to see it. I don't think Lucas even looks at it, from what I've heard. He doesn't much care or look at feedback on the prequels, after all. Still, it's a light-hearted thing, and he's had at least a year (when those trailers came out, probably before the X-box version ever came out) to see it - and it's a really popular game with lots of money, so he ought to pay attention to it if nothing else.
-
I remember something, but I think it was just on X-box. X-box version also started out showing the nifty trailer for the game. Maybe it's in the trailers on the LA website for the first KotOR? here's the situation: The lightside jedi is on the L, and confronted by the dark Jedi. The dark jedi does a flourish, and then the lightside jedi throws his saber into the air spinning, and gets struck by the darksider's force lightning - and the darksider takes the spot on the L. Could be another game, but I doubt it. I'm gonna go check.

New Sith Lords interview!

To put it more simply: It doesn't mean they'll suddenly stop having quality control in Obsidian. It sounds pretty amateurish of them to do that, and I don't see them being amateurish. It's an easy way to make choice in the game, putting a game mechanic in-game to be found, and I don't see them missing it. What I was thinking is that Kreia offers you chances to train various skills, and you're given a choice (maybe limited by what's useful) of/during various situations with you either solving the problem or cutting around it with the Force, thus training you that skill. It would give you a good idea of the sort of Force Power you'd like, as well. -
Bruce Lee is a Jedi!

He looks like Bruce Lee might in polygons. -
Okay, can you think of a plausible reason to explain why you'd know the result of your actions? Better yet, can you tell me why it wouldn't be tremendously cheap? Well, there isn't a dark-side in real life. I think it would be a fun way to do things, though- even if it makes things harder.

I think it's more the light and the chinese guy in a dramatic stance, but that's just me... -
Ahh, I know... doppler radar, from the deadly Weatherman line of Force Power's. This new line of Force powers is so evil, even traditional Sith don't touch it... (and thus, you've never heard of it)

New Sith Lords interview!
nightcleaver replied to Meshugger's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
We don't. Yes, maybe we will have to wait for december. To the original topic: There was a lot of obligatory repeat, but a LOT of stuff was clarified and explained here that wasn't before. Thanks for bringing it up. OSW: Sorry to be a prude, but there are countless possibilities to be read beneath the lines. There isn't even the vague implication they'll restrict your force powers. It's fine that you made the mistake, as everyone does that, but why insist that's how it is? -

It doesn't say they're chosen for you, though that's one possibility. If it's not said, don't read it between the lines, unless the implication is VERY clear, and even then there will be miscommunications. There was a lot of repeat, but a LOT of stuff was clarified and explained here that wasn't before. Thanks for bringing it up. -
To tell the truth, I don't understand how they decide what to hype and what not to hype. It all seems pretty arbitrary, but I rather doubt we'd be able to convince LA to advertise more on this game. They'd probably have complaints from other fans if they advertised KOTOR 2 as much as you suggest and didn't do the same for their other games, like Battegrounds, Republic Commando, and Jump to Lightspeed. I guess companies that really need the cash are bound to advertise a lot more. As it stands, I don't think LA is desperate for cash right now, not to say you're wrong for suggesting they do this. They might lose a good portion of their profit margin doing this (I don't know how much; you might, and they would know as well), and considering the first game's popularity, would have a good chance of doing more harm to their pocketbook than good. Still, more internet media wouldn't hurt - I just don't know about the larger ad campaigns. You'd really have to talk to an expert, or be an expert, to know anything about that.
-
They would be a neat, unexpected thing as long as we didn't get too in-depth. Canderous found a strange asteroid that obliterated a large portion of a mandalorian fleet, so the story was interesting and suspicious. I'm sure you could go with any number of other ways to do that, though - that mystery.
