  1. Starfield - There are some quality of life fixes from when I played at release, and I set it so that I can carry everything. It is going well and I'm enjoying exploring the universe. I am still figuring out how to make a decent settlement, but I am better at ship design now.

  2. I enjoyed it because it was a well executed scene but moreso because it really hammers in the disconnect between the decadent nature of the court and the real effect of its politics. XIII could not give less of a **** over the real people who are going to suffer from the policies he enacts so long as he gets to do his silly king stuff, and his Richelieu also doesn't really care that his king is pretty much the exact kind of guy he should despise so long as he gets to do what he wants. That's pretty analogous to a lot of what we're dealing with right now, with some politicians being a much less fun mirror of Louis XIII and some of their administrators being more overtly fascist versions of Richelieu.

  3. So, when do we get the review of Star Trek Discovery S5 then? (Prime was absolutely desperate for me to watch Invincible when I subbed for Fallout last month. Ended up watching The Expanse s3+ again instead- no regrets, and the later seasons were much better on a rewatch. Now TVNZ+ is absolutely desperate for me to watch Discovery, the algorithm cannot understand how someone who'd watch just about anything vaguely science fiction keeps ignoring it)

  5. And Beast Boy...inexplicably just stops doing that even though it was effective. Trigon just sits there uselessly flailing around in agony until Beast Boy decides to leave of his own accord. In video games, you keep doing what works until it stops working...in shows and movies, a character doing that to resolve every situation gets repetitive and boring awfully quickly, even if it makes the character seem stupid when they stop. Similarly, a character using one of their abilities in an unexpected way to resolve a problem can either be great or completely stupid, depending on the drama of the situation, how well it was or wasn't set up, how cool or funny it is, and probably a variety of other factors. Look at this nonsense I found in Atom Eve's Invincible wiki entry, under "weaknesses": And noted right next to it... In effect, the typical "we gave this character too powerful of an ability" combined with "so we're going to put an artificial limit on it" topped off with "but actually she can bypass it...but only when we want her to" nonsense. Is it better than not addressing it at all? Maybe, maybe not...addressing it kind of just draws more attention to how stupid it is, so maybe it's better to just not. She changes a textbook into something else entirely different and then right back again, with the textbook having completely resumed its previous form so that it can still be read, so I guess her ability to instantly analyze, memorize, and change reality is literally just about perfect, which makes her powers seem even dumber. This is precisely why I try not to think about this, it really doesn't matter and it's all a load of nonsense. I only care about something like this is if there isn't other things that I like about what I'm watching to distract me from thinking about it, which if it's not accomplishing, is usually a sign I should just stop watching.

  7. "Don't look at me. I'm beautifuuuul. I'm beautifuuuuuuul." and Louis XIII doing a drag performance has been seared into my mind since I saw the film. I think that what makes it work so well for me is how I went in expecting somethings like the Excorcist but moar lewd and instead got a substantially better version of The Crucible. Frankly what I found disturbing wasn't the nun orgy but just how relevant a 50 year old film about events 4 centuries ago feels. Maybe I'm just too brain damaged by Evangelion. I think it's a really solid horror that manages to straddle the line between being too much of a joke to taking itself so seriously it disappears up it's own ass.

  10. But also a major difference between any Western country and Russia is Putin has the advantage of no political consequence in elections for a war objective that has failed to reach its primary objectives after 2 years and body bags piling up and being sent home If this was a Western country I can guarantee you the anti-war candidate would have gained huge support in any normal free and fair election Autocratic governments dont have to worry about public sentiment in any election. Putin will never lose any election so the meatgrinder and cannon fodder Russian strategy is considered fine and has seen success on the battlefield

  11. The situation is different today for Russia as well. They are not under lend lease from USA, so even if the manpower does not run dry, artillery and tanks will run low sooner or later. There is no way, that Russia can sustain losing 20-50 artillery and 10-25 tanks each day in the long term. Yes they are on war economy for a long time already, but there is no chance for them to build 1000 new artillery and 500 new tanks a month, when they are already lacking qualified workforce. It is now much easier to flee Russia now, than half century ago.

  12. A Finnish military specialist just recently pointed out that it's a stupid strategy but may well work in the end, given that Russia has such a great advantage in numbers (of men sent to be killed). A bit of a harrowing thought, that. "We don't care how many of our men get killed, because we're going to have more in the end anyway." No Western or even "Western" country could have withstood such casualties (in 2022-2024, that is; in 1939-1945 it was different).

  14. https://www.politico.eu/article/georgia-european-union-candidacy-protest-nana-malashkhia-georgian-dream-party/ Whats worse is 80% of Georgians want to join the EU and this latest legislation is your typical Russian style underhanded attempt to prevent that Its very clear what the overall Russian\Putin strategy is to recreate the old Soviet borders and Russian influence. You cannot leave it up to citizens to decide their own future in almost all former Soviet states because given a choice the majority of people will want to align with the EU\West You make sure you support fellow Autocracies and keep them in power, you invade and occupy or you actively interfere in the domestic policies of the country so that it makes joining the EU harder But you dont ever let citizens decide their own future because sovereignty is the enemy

  15. ya'll crazy.. and whomever decided how to number the versions is probably crazy too. I don't care what you call the system.. it's a terrible system if later versions of the game can have a lower number than the previous one. I just rechecked.. the game version is 3.7-and so on.. patch is 3.4-and so on. Sensible people don't do this sort of thing.. and certainly don't invent a system in which this makes sense, because that's just organized insanity. ya'll crazy.. every single one of you. Just ask Maerwald, he'll confirm it.

  17. You are all dead to me now. Fie. Shoo. I am also aware that I said the exact same thing when @Amentep posted about watching Discovery and not hating it way back when it happened. A special thanks goes to @Zoraptor whose reminder turned my evening from being purely occupied by grinding in Diablo 4 to sharing my brain space and time with the beginning of Discovery Season five. Disclaimer: I will be watching this at 2.25x replay speed, which worked wonders when I wrote my Sailor Moon Cosmos recap. Yum Yum. The Red Directive Yes, that is actually the episode name. Yikes. I haven't even begun to watch, but the title hangs there, ominous in its wording. You know, that situation in a horror film where the protagonist is clearly aware that they are making a mistake by walking down an aisle, or entering a door, or leaving the safety of their room, but they are doing it anyway? Yes, this is exactly like that. At least this is going to be the final season of this travesty of a show that should have never been made. With the possible exceptions of the Michelle Yeoh focused mirror universe episodes, which were just absolutely delightful. Without any further ado, let us begin. Great, the forum just posted my post due to a software update, while it is not finished. At least it is not gone. Freaking forum software.

  19. As far as I understand, if the money they get are from Russia, they do not need to be “marked” as a Foreign Agent. It’s mind bogling, that some people are still in favour of Russian paid parties, after what they suffered through in 2008.

  20. If you check 3.07.1318 vs https://regex101.com/r/vkijKf/1/ and https://regex101.com/r/Ly7O1x/3/ (from the link https://semver.org/) you notice that 3.07.1318 it is NOT a valid semantic version, like you said, but NO version (taken from https://pillarsofeternity.fandom.com/wiki/Version) starting from 1.02.0508 (the first one) is a valid semantic version, by this rule (nr. 2, always from https://semver.org/) : But, you can refer to the "build number", the last number in the version, which is always incremental, so the build 1356 (from patch version 3.4.1356) is greater than 1318 (from version number 3.07.1318) and this can tell us that the patch is subsequent to version 3.07.1318 PoeII follows yet another versioning numeration as last number it's not the "overall" build (maybe is it build number "inside" that major/minor version? Only programmers know), but again, version 1.1.0.0035 is subsequent to version 1.01.0064. From version 1.1.0.0035 they stopped using leading zeros for major, minor and patch versions, but they still use for last number. It is to be said that semantic versioning system is not the bible, but indeed, obsidian system is a little weird and it can generate some confusion (as above).
