Somehow I don't think we are ever going to get that back. As with games, they are chasing that numbers dragon, and will go in a direction that will get them there. -

What finally made me leave Google a few years ago was when I was suddenly and inexplicably logged and then locked out of my account from my home PC on my home IP address...and I realized that the whole system is completely automated and that it's impossible to get any actual support in the event of system error. No matter what information I gave them, they thought my log-in attempt was suspicious and just kept asking for more information until there literally was nothing else left to ask and I still wasn't allowed back in. I ended up switching to ProtonMail where I can log-in from any device on any IP, and where you can setup TOTP 2FA, which is pretty much the only type of 2FA that I want - texts, phonecalls, emails and the like are all dumb, as are Google's random security and account history trivia questions. ProtonMail isn't perfect from a UI standpoint, but at least I don't have to worry about getting banned by some automated system for completely inscrutable reasons anymore.

Don't know why people are so soft on Picard season three. Yes, it as massively better than the turd that season one was, and it would probably break the laws of physics to make a season worse than two, but that just made season three less bad. It wasn't good, most of the time, and the cringe factor of the Millennium Enterprise attacking the Death Cube reactor was over nine thousand. But yes, I am definitely one of those who wanted nothing more than TNG Season 8 out of the series after the Discovery debacle... and all we got was more yum yum. -
Moved the really important parts of my digital life to a new e-mail address. I've had the same mail account at a small non-profit for almost thirty years, but the service has since become unstable. I have toyed with the idea of migrating for the better part of a year now, but talking to another user of the service raised a major red flag beyond some instability a few days ago. He has - or perhaps more apt to say had - the pro subscription (once upon a time this was for unlimited timeslot access to the BBS part of the system, which no longer matters, as there are barely any users left and no one ever runs out of online time) and said they've stopped charging his account for the subscription fee. They no longer react to support requests either. We don't really have any idea if someone's left working at the non-profit or if the service is just running because the hoster's been paid in advance. How old the non-profit is can be gauged by its name, it is mostly a BBS and mail service provider calling itself Club for the Promotion of Youth Communication. As if the youth of today would even know what a BBS is, or use e-mail to communicate outside of work.

Not so much a new scientific discovery as a particular new trend in use of existing technology, AI for movie generation at budgets that doesn't require Hollywood studio funding. I.e. "normal" people can do it too if interested enough to learn a bit about it. I myself dabbled a bit with AI pictures (Stable Diffusion and Flux). Looking into what is currently available in the genre of converting images into short video sequences. These people have spent a bit more time on it and create some hilarious videos. Same channel have videos like The Most German man, The Most Reddit Man etc. in the world, etc.

I was a bit unfair on Picard S1, up to a point I rather liked it. I think a lot of people wanted TNG S8 instead though. Once at the point I didn't like though... people say you can't retroactively ruin episodes you've already seen, but I reckon Picard S1 (and for that matter, Discovery S1) is a good argument you can. -
Horuge started following Fatal error! when opening the game
-
I reinstalled grounded and when I open it i just get straight up a window saying fatal error, nothing else. I've already updated drivers, windows, reinstalled the game 5 times, restarted my pc, disabled every overlay and nothing. i dont even get a log file with an error description or something. I asked chat gpt to read the runtime-xml file and it said I dont know what else to do.

I'm trying hard to avoid noticing, but Stewart's age issues with his voice just break my sense of immersion. It's unfortunate. There are some likeable characters in the series though, so I've enjoyed it. - Yesterday

Finished Backpack Hero. Took me about 70 hours because I was trying to research everything (still have four items to research) and do the various side missions (haven't done them all because Tote is just too luck based). Overall a cute, fun little rogue like. I don't enjoy the playstyle of 2 of the 5 characters, so I'll overcome the completionist in me and call it done

Haven't seen the new episodes yet (weeks away at the rate I watch TV nowadays) but iirc the previous Gorn episodes were non IP infringing Alien Franchise rip offs down to the first being Alien and the second being Aliens. The first couple of seasons were very underwhelming really. Last season was like a completely different and far better program. -
Hunter's claw works if you don't stack it to full +20 bonus, and you can stack 3 different bonuses, one for each of passive, respecing your character There a post of mine somewhere in the forum about that It happened to me few days ago with a debuff I was hitten by Shroud of Darkness (with Blind effect) by a Death Guard Fanatic, I had a drug effect (svef) active with resistance to perception affliction which constantly turned blind to distracted and so on... at the end of the combat I kept with distracted effects stuck on my character Not even Eyes of Blackstone of Effigy's Husk take it away... but luckily a quit and reload did

It feels like they are trying to introduce a horror vibe. Watching the Gorn youth skitter about is a strong Alien trope. -
Hey, I'm sure the Russians said the same thing when the Germans deported Lenin and put him on a train to Russia

Dandadan episode 3... as wacky as ever. Momo and Okarun is stranded in a subterranean cave together with a century's worth of buildings. Looks very much like a giant sink hole. Trapped with the giant Mongolian Deathworm trying to force them into suicide and The Evil eye, still possessing Jiji's body. Okarun manages to catapult Momo (with a helping psychic hand from Mom) up to the surface. She lights the house above the cavern up and calls the fire department. Remembering something she learnt as a kid, worms don't like wet terrain. True enough, the worm surfaces and wrecks half the neighbourhood before dying from exposure to sunlight. At the bottom, Okarun tries to save Turbo-Granny from sticky orange good, just to end up stuck himself. Along the way, the dying worm regurgitates the "family" that has spent the last few centuries sacrificing victims to it. They promptly blame Momo for what is about to happen and... the volcano next to the town starts erupting, lava running everywhere... Makes sense, right? You sort of have to see it edit: before anyone points out that i missed something, disclaimer, I probably missed at least half of what happened in the tl;dr; above

Hey Grounded Devs! just wanted to say the game is absolutely awesome, but I had some ideas to make the gardening stuff more fulfilling for those of us who love homesteading. I'm throwing around some (many) ideas, because I love the game. What if we could move beyond the planters and use a tool, like a little Weevil nose trowel, to till the actual soil and make proper gardens anywhere? It would make our bases look more natural. It'd also be great if we could plant berry chunks to grow our little Berry bushes (for smoothies, or quick food like the little white mushrooms) or flowers for a steady supply of nectar and different color petals, for furniture or even accessories, something like Wild strawberries? Also imagine how pretty and useful other plants would look, for example: Wood sorrel, also known as sourgrass (Oxalis spp.), it has three heart shaped leaves, and yellow flowers. Another option is the Viola sororia, also known as Blue violet, it is also edible. Even Microgreens would be an exiting option. On that note, since the game is all about scale, another option add is the Water Meal (Wolffia globosa). It's the world's smallest flower, it floats on water, and has no roots, so it's perfect for ponds or small water puddles! We could farm it in ponds and use it to craft stuff for water exploration, like a smoothie or food for boosts. In Thailand it is consumed in a variety of ways. Plants can also offer new techniques or options, such as Essential oils (that could keep different insects away), Dyes and Pigments (to change armor color, or construction materials colors), Seeds, Teas, Spices, or Flavoring. All of these could be unlocked after missions, or certain quests. Anyway, just some thoughts from a fan, I'm counting the days for the Grounded 2 release! Here are some pictures of the species I mentioned.
