Walking around Santa Fe. It's got an interesting vibe and the weather is much better than everywhere else we've been. Currently sitting in the man area of some women's boutique not too far from the house we rented

The Thunderbird Bar and Grill on Santa Fe plaza is a great place for dinner.

And the bar has over 100 tequilas to choose from.

You should consider taking a day trip to Taos.  If you stay overnight I recommend the Hotel La Fonda de Taos right on the central square.    :)

My grandmother passed.

I find I'm less bothered by death itself than the sadness of the people I care about.

Sorry to hear that Tale.  Sounds like you're going to be in the position of supporting people while they deal with their grief but try not to neglect your own feelings.

My condolences Tale.

Civilization, in fact, grows more and more maudlin and hysterical; especially under democracy it tends to degenerate into a mere combat of crazes; the whole aim of practical politics is to keep the populace alarmed (and hence clamorous to be led to safety) by menacing it with an endless series of hobgoblins, most of them imaginary. - H.L. Mencken

Or you fought a valiant battle against productivity, that you won.

I cannot - yet I must. How do you calculate that? At what point on the graph do "must" and "cannot" meet? Yet I must - but I cannot! ~ Ro-Man

2nd day without water for the entire town and not a single word on why. at least for drinking water we can buy bottles but the problem is that it's hot and we can't have a shower and even more importantly we can't wash dishes or flush the toilet. fortunately it rained yesterday so we had a chance to fill some buckets but if they don't fix it soon that water won't last

The words freedom and liberty, are diminishing the true meaning of the abstract concept they try to explain. The true nature of freedom is such, that the human mind is unable to comprehend it, so we make a cage and name it freedom in order to give a tangible meaning to what we dont understand, just as our ancestors made gods like Thor or Zeus to explain thunder.

What? You thought it was a quote from some well known wise guy from the past?

Stupidity leads to willful ignorance - willful ignorance leads to hope - hope leads to sex - and that is how a new generation of fools is born!

We are hardcore role players... When we go to bed with a girl, we roll a D20 to see if we hit the target and a D6 to see how much penetration damage we did.

we know why there is no water: they closed the valves. what we don't know and nobody bothered to inform anyone about is the reason they closed the valves

Kids got ahold of some Vim kitchen cleaner because the wife didn't put it back when she was done. Proceeded to spray our wall of photos from Fan Expo. Most now have discoloured splotches and one is fully ruined. The one I am most angry about is my autographed photo of me with Stan Lee. Thats like a $100 irreplaceable photo, kids won't even own up which one of them did it.

In South Africa until about 6 months ago we use to have electricity outages that lasted 4 hours or so every 3 rd day, people assume not having electricity is the worst thing

Its not, water outages or disruptions to water is worse. Everything starts smelling and becomes dirty when you have no water...so I truly empathize with you

Ah reminds me of back home. Water would only be on from 4 to 6 and then 18 to 20 I think. So everyone had massive tanks.

Arent Trinidad and Tobago resort destinations? What the heck are you doing in freezing Canada?!?! :p

Hah. Good question but parents took us here for some reason. And Trinidad is kind of unsafe these days - 1.3MM people yet 403 murders, 500 shootings and 829 sexual assaults in 2014.

Also the island is full of Trinidadians. Duplicitous scum, all :p

Home from a hard, long week of work.  We were short handed so everybody was pulling extra weight (well, almost everybody).  That's over now (until Monday) and I put in lots of overtime for another fat paycheck.  The downside to working lots of overtime is that it shoots me into a higher tax bracket so I actually take home only a little bit more for several hours more of work and Uncle Sam takes a bigger cut.  The upside is a bigger return come February.  This weekend is supposed to be a scorcher (we might hit 100 on Sunday, which is unusual for June) so most of my outdoor stuff is going to happen in the morning or evening/night.  During the day I'll be enjoying the comforts of central air conditioning.
