WTF why are people thinking it was rape?

He doesn't speak, he doesn't seem to feel, he doesn't seem to think much. He's some sort of zombie abomination now, Cersei just got done basically torturing her, and then Cersei walks out of the room, we IMMEDIATELY hear screams, and you guys discern the guy in big heavy armor with (seemingly) no brain to his name must be raping her rather than torturing her?

wat

I just assumed he was getting his rape juices flowing with a bit of torture.  I think Cersei introduces him as Gregor Clegaine to specifically remind the septa (and us) of what to expect.

Nothing in that scene specifically says that he raped her. But that would be perfectly in character for the show.

I disagee, everything in the scene says he raped her

But cant someone just confirm this....you guys must have access to forums or links to confirm this. What are other people saying?

And how so exactly?

He put down his helmet, it will be obviously oral abuse, he will be reading poems to her

I'm the enemy, 'cause I like to think, I like to read. I'm into freedom of speech, and freedom of choice. I'm the kinda guy that likes to sit in a greasy spoon and wonder, "Gee, should I have the T-bone steak or the jumbo rack of barbecue ribs with the side-order of gravy fries?" I want high cholesterol! I wanna eat bacon, and butter, and buckets of cheese, okay?! I wanna smoke a Cuban cigar the size of Cincinnati in the non-smoking section! I wanna run naked through the street, with green Jell-O all over my body, reading Playboy magazine. Why? Because I suddenly may feel the need to, okay, pal? I've SEEN the future. Do you know what it is? It's a 47-year-old virgin sitting around in his beige pajamas, drinking a banana-broccoli shake, singing "I'm an Oscar Meyer Wiene"

Chilloutman  ...this must be one of the funniest things you have said, good one

You can add to this, he puts down his helmet and " starts lecturing her about how she has betrayed the SJW code of Kings Landing "

@ Fighter

Its all the innuendo about rape that has convinced me she does indeed get raped. For example

  • Cersei wants the worst punishment for her
  • Gregor removes his helmet, the  act of rape symbolically always involves a man taking his clothes off as he " prepares"
  • The way Gregor is standing and the way  she is lying on her back with her legs towards him
  • Gregors entire personality is about someone  who has used rape and  other vile deeds as what defines his personality
  • Gregor lacks refinement or subtlety, if she wanted someone to just torture that women she would have used someone like  Qyburn who could have kept her alive for weeks and  used his science and alchemy to make her really suffer...no this was about a more simple but brutal punishment....days of rape

On initial viewing, I thought Cersei/Gregor was planning standard-fare fantasy torture for the purpose of revenge and sadism.

Of course, as far as torture goes...not sure which would be worst ---Torture by Bolton, or Torture by Mountain.

The Boltons use torture for the purpose of breaking their subject and bending them to their will. The Mountain is a sadist who likes to inflict maximum suffering and pain. Did the Tickler find much hidden loot?

If you try to think as Cersei does (messed up, I know), it seems pretty obvious that Gregor was gonna rape the septa. Cersei saying "shame, shame, shame" says it all really. She wants the septa to suffer in the most humiliating way possible - as was done to Cersei herself.

Apparently Lena Headey (actor who portrays Cersei) said in an interview that this was the tamer version of the scene, because they filmed another as well. My guess is that they actually filmed some of the rape, but decided not to show it because of the backlash from the rape scene last season.

Urgs. What will I watch now that the season is over again.

Have you read the books?

They simply the finest fantasy I have ever read and they add a different and better insight into the characters and overall narrative

I'd recommend The Man in The High Castle, currently enjoying it.  Though as Bruce said, the books are enthralling and give a much broader perspective.  The TV show is like reading the book through a keyhole while someone keeps squirting oil in your eye.

Check out Wolf Hall if you haven't, a fantastic BBC miniseries typically liked by Game of Thrones fans. Another great BBC mini-series is Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrel, a fantasy series set in England during the Napoleonic Wars.

Yeah, it's best not to become too close with any character in A Song of Ice and Fire or the show. Some of the characters alive in the show are dead in the books and vice versa. The story of each is beginning to diverge pretty widely.
