As far as I can tell antidepressants work differently for everyone. Nobody has the same experience. I was told that some people don't feel the effects of the new one I'm on until after they've been taking it for several weeks but it hit me like a bullet. It also depends on what's wrong with you - my diagnosis keeps changing. Originally I was diagnosed with bipolar just with very mild to non-existent manic episodes, now my doc is thinking is persistent depressive disorder. It's not an exact science.

I'm home with illness. Don't know what, but possibly influenza. High fever, bit of a runny nose, and one hell of a cough. It's not a constant cough, but I do get fits where I almost vomit and the pain in my chestmuscles is epic.

Civilization, in fact, grows more and more maudlin and hysterical; especially under democracy it tends to degenerate into a mere combat of crazes; the whole aim of practical politics is to keep the populace alarmed (and hence clamorous to be led to safety) by menacing it with an endless series of hobgoblins, most of them imaginary. - H.L. Well, garage door spring broke overnight, that was fun. Can't lift it to get the car out (I am sure it's just a strength issue, but is what it is) so today's commute was fun - coincided with a major transit outage as well.

And to top it off, big snowstorm coming tonight.

Ohh, you lucky bastard, I also want a snowstorm. :<

I want one, but only if I can WFH. :p I do rather enjoy clearing snow, odd I suppose and probably due to me not having to clear more than 20 feet

I have a pretty large yard to clear unfortunately, but if there is a snowstorm there's no reason for me to go to work. Hell, if there's a bit of sleet lorries seem to stop running so we get nothing to do at work. Last time there was snowfall we spent 6 hours cleaning the building.

I Seem to have been afflicted by what Red Dwarf would describe as positive Flu today, an inexplicable and unwarranted feeling of health, strength and positivity. My morning run was a breeze, my workout I lifted like Geoff Capes, my knees did not give me even a twinge all day, and other aspects of health were gloriously evident when I awoke, the joys of Spring arived a little early so to speak.

I always wonder why this happens, it's very strange.

Quite an experience to live in misery isn't it? That's what it is to be married with children.

I've seen things you people can't even imagine. Pearly Kings glittering on the Elephant and Castle, Morris Men dancing 'til the last light of midsummer. I watched Druid fires burning in the ruins of Stonehenge, and Yorkshiremen gurning for prizes. All these things will be lost in time, like alopecia on a skinhead. Time for tiffin.

Sounds the same here, we get 1 cm of snow and the city falls to chaos. We're due for 30 cm, so it will be hell

Did laundry and then went to make a 3.01 PoE character but the same thing happened as last night ... computer locked at the same point during character creation. Checked the game cache, fine, CHKD DSK, fine. Deleted local content and am now downloading to a different disk, the Raptor, not the OS SSD. Pretty sure it was the Win10 Windows Update bugaboo that failed to configure awhile ago, somehow doesn't want me to play White March Part II.

*Sailed through character creation. Made it to the last option of the very first conversation and PC froze again like Cap in an iceberg. I'll wait for 3.2, or whatever.

Love the sound of that, I love walking around in the woods after snowfall and just enjoy the view.

Not that I would be able to do that in my current state. My fever has gone up slightly, and I can't fall asleep - because I need to find my way out of that frigging labyrinthe before being allowed to sleep. Love fever hallucinations when one is trying to sleep...

It was great out last night, snow was falling and very little wind. Was a bit cold to go for a walk, though. Snow was powder so was an easy shovelling job - neighbour woke up and did our steps and sidewalk (we normally do each others if we can - he works nights so that's how it goes).

My Crombie has decided to start showing signs of its age, and has lost two buttons and had an inner seam split. While I could technically sew the repairs myself, I know that my skills would mean it would get done, but not in a great manner, and a Crombie deserves a lot better than that. So I shall have to find a decent tailor that will repair it.

Out of curiosity I went to see what a new Crombie would cost these days.  Heh. The Clearance sale tends to have them at £450-600...   Yes, I think repairs not replacement are definitely in order.

being a rustic gentleman, I get by with the considerably smaller investment of Barbour...

You're a cheery wee bugger, Nep. Have I ever said that?

Got it. I figured out why I couldn't play Pillars. Millions of nanobots were inside my PC, a gray-blue hive, clogging heatsinks, coating fan blades, creeping over every surface. I activated security protocols, releasing compressed gas directly into the hive. The infection is terminated, all systems functional.

I feel old. I head it on the radio last week, The Gulf War ended 25 years ago on 2/28. Jeez. Am I really that old?

But now Gifted1 & Shady Sands can feel old. I believe they were both there too.

I was in maybe 4th grade at the time, sorry

I do feel old but that probably doesn't help

Doh! Maybe it was Manifested then? I remember talking with another Marine on the board who was there. But it was a long time ago. I thought it was you.

Sorta. We were at Pendleton for what was called MCT and later SOI during that time, Jan. thru Mar. ... none of us deployed to Desert Storm but they issued active duty service ribbons. It was kind of a bare-bones training staff, since the regulars were in country.

It was interesting, we were in field gear, I remember at night, when they played Bush's address over the radio. I feel super old sometimes, too.

Just for embarassment here is a picture of me during my first tour of Iraq in 05

The Commandant was in the area for a photo op so they gathered everyone up for group pictures

I was in Diego Garcia for all of Desert Shield and the first two weeks of Desert Storm. Then after the 2nd Div swept past Al Basra we moved there. I liked the wing well enough I guess but we did miss out on the action. But someone had to help land the planes.

You'd think they'd have ditched the woodland pattern flak jackets. They didn't blend in well did they?

There are a lot of things about my career I wish I'd done differently but going in the Corps isn't on of them. Getting out isn't either actually. I was inclined to stay in because I'd just made Corporal three months before the end and the cutting scores for Sergeant were pretty low. But I had to pick a new MOS and I just didn't like any of the options.
