One mans hell is another mans heaven. *_*

Civilization, in fact, grows more and more maudlin and hysterical; especially under democracy it tends to degenerate into a mere combat of crazes; the whole aim of practical politics is to keep the populace alarmed (and hence clamorous to be led to safety) by menacing it with an endless series of hobgoblins, most of them imaginary. - H.L. Mencken

I didn't believe this. I know Bill is bad, but that was too much, so I looked up the video. WOW. I liked his comeback though "Well you look like a cocaine user, so I guess we're even"

I gotta say, that was particularly gruesome to watch.

Weird, it skirted around where I am but missed that big lump of land where I live: 1. NZ 2. Singapore 3. South Africa. Correctly guessed it was my native language, with the followup guesses being Italian and Romanian.

Guessed my native language (Dutch) third, after Norwegian and English. Thought I had a standard American accent, or a US Black/Ebonics accent, or Singaporean. That's quite a group.

What's your dialect. a little timewaster quiz. I got Standard American and they guessed I was from Norway. Close enough heh

Here are my results:

Our top three guesses for your English dialect:

1. American (Standard)
2. Canadian
3. US Black Vernacular / Ebonics

Our top three guesses for your native (first) language:

1. English
2. Norwegian
3. Swedish

The first part they got correct, American (standard), the second part they're sort of off base since Polish is my native language, however I have spent the better part of my life in 'Murica and speak way better English than Polish, so it's not that far off.

Next time I'm in a country where English is the main spoken language and somebody asks me what accent I have I'll tell them I'm a Romanian speaking Austrian with a Singaporean accent.

That was interesting.  I was born in Georgia, raised in Florida and live in the NE United States.   Family is from UK so that must be the influence.

Figures, I learnt English from watching TV. I think I already told the algorithm where I live and what my first language was, so why is it telling me different.

We did go the beach

That's not actually incorrect, if you weren't able to  say 'We went to the beach' it is, but in a different context it would be fine.
