Katphood Posted March 22, 2014 Posted March 22, 2014 (edited) When I first played F:NV on the main quest I was down on ammunition and hunted by Deathclaws and trying to escape through the desert... That happened to me too. I thought to myself: 'Well, the most logical thing to do right now is to head north because it seems to be the shortest way to the strip.' Then I reached Quarry Junction and a single slap of a deathclaw proved that my logic was...flawed, so to speak. CoM_Solaufein Posted March 22, 2014 Posted March 22, 2014 Fallout New Vegas, modded out. Beautiful New Vegas at night. That brings back some nostalgic memories for me. When I first played F:NV on the main quest I was down on ammunition and hunted by Deathclaws and trying to escape through the desert...desperate to find this haven called " New Vegas". I remember going over a hill, it was night, and there was the town in all its shimmering glory. I have never been so happy to see a friendly location in any game A friendly location if you have the caps. CoM_Solaufein Posted March 22, 2014 Posted March 22, 2014 Still skiing the slopes of Skyrim. Now in full Vampire/Werewolf glory. Now to finish out the triat as a Wendigo...... I'm kinda curious where Bethesda zigged.... In Morrowind it seemed I was heroic.... now I'm a CW TV Monster..... I tried a Vampire Lord for a brief moment. I found them to be too ugly for my tastes. Fugly as sin, but tossing people around with that "force pull" power is hilarious. :D Since I'm doing the hybrid thing, I can see them side by side with Werewolves... I can't decide which is more deadly. I think the werewolves are more powerful. When I was doing the Companions quests, I was tearing people left and right when I was transformed into Beastform. Calax Posted March 22, 2014 Posted March 22, 2014 Second Son. I can't help but feel the game is to... loose? They're attempting to add variety by giving you the new powers but realistically it feels like all the new powers do is just reskin old powers (with slightly different effects). When Cole was our protagonist he only had the zapping powers and things worked really well because when all else failed, basic zapping was always an option. Now the game is so eager for you to swap powers that you can legit run out of power for any of your powersets, and you change by draining the powerset (So you get smoke powers from a smoke cloud and neon from neon signs). It just feels like it's punishing me in a longer fight (of which there can be many because this game starts to throw enemies at you like my cat throws himself at carpets). Add to that the fact the characters aren't as well written as before (one in particular going from Enemy, to friend who's got a nickname for you in less than a mission... then screws you off camera), and I think Sucker Punch needs to do better. Overall it's an above average game for the previous generation, but time will tell if it's good enough for this gen. Victor of the 5 year fan fic competition! Kevin Butler will awesome your face off.
GhostofAnakin Posted March 22, 2014 Posted March 22, 2014 I always chuckle when the quirky AI continues on with its "routine" even in awkward situations. It's the middle of the night in New Vegas, so everyone is in their bunk. I wake up one of the NCR captains to complete a quest. He then asks me to escort him to arrest some guy, so we trek across the compound and entire a building, where the NCR captain promptly shoots the guy. But hey, because it's the middle of the night and the AI is "coded" to sleep during this time, he simply calmly climbs into the bed the guy he just shot was sleeping in, and goes to sleep with the body of the dead guy right beside him. 2 "Console exclusive is such a harsh word." - Darque"Console exclusive is two words Darque." - Nartwak (in response to Darque's observation)

BruceVC Posted March 22, 2014 Posted March 22, 2014 I have just finished AC3 and I enjoyed it. Its scores a well deserved 65/100 on the much respected " BruceVC gaming rating barometer" The game definitely grows on you, playing the first chapter as Nathan Kenway I thought "meh" but once that chapter ends and you realize who Kenway is the game starts developing into a very enjoyable gaming experience All AC games suffer from the same game design fault IMO, you can only do the same side missions for so long before they get boring. But then I just stick to the main mission and its fine. I also always appreciate the way Ubisoft designs there worlds, you always get the impression of this grand landscape that you can explore and adventure in And finally i enjoyed the Desmond story and how that narrative is unfolding "Abashed the devil stood and felt how awful goodness is and saw Virtue in her shape how lovely: and pined his loss” John Milton "We don't stop playing because we grow old; we grow old because we stop playing.” - George Bernard Shaw "What counts in life is not the mere fact that we have lived. Bartimaeus Posted March 22, 2014 Posted March 22, 2014 Terranigma - an old SNES JARPG. I don't normally play JRPGs due to certain elements making me not a fan of the genre - and this one is no exception - but as I had played it for a bit many years back, I found myself suggesting it to a friend who was enjoying the Ys series, and then later found myself playing it alongside him. Moderately enjoyable. Eufloria - a lite real time strategy game based on the premise of creating a sort of flower empire in certain (somewhat random, within certain parameters) scenarios laid out for you. You conquer "worlds" with "seeds", plant them en masse in the worlds to produce more seeds to conquer other worlds. I bought it many years ago on Steam, tried it then and thought it was okay but didn't make it through. Restarted a few days ago and found that I liked it more now than I did then, and beat the main game, and am now trying the harder difficulty. Quote How I have existed fills me with horror. For I have failed in everything - spelling, arithmetic, riding, tennis, golf; dancing, singing, acting; wife, mistress, whore, friend. Even cooking. And I do not excuse myself with the usual escape of 'not trying'. I tried with all my heart. In my dreams, I am not crippled. In my dreams, I dance.
Guest Slinky Posted March 22, 2014 Posted March 22, 2014 Legend of Grimrock. Says something about the atmosphere in the game if I have had to stop at times because I thought I heard something! Damn thing has managed to startle me a few times. Also the part of my brain which is needed for cognitive thinking is very thankful for the game as it doesn't have to slip into coma like usual. Treasure hunting isn't going too well though, only found 2/7 and I'm already going to level 6. Also one spell I could cast eludes me, just can't find the right combination for the damn thing. Then theres a room with a nice looking armor in it and I can't find a way in, I can only desperately look at it behind iron bars, almost hearing it laughing at me. Stupid armor, I'll find a way, just you watch. I'm so getting Legend of Grimrock 2 when it comes. Someone really should remake Dungeon Master too.
Noviere Posted March 22, 2014 Posted March 22, 2014 (edited) Wildstar's beta. So far, I quite enjoy it. In many ways, it's a fairly typical MMO... But with several improvements. -The combat is much more actiony. Tab-targetting is barely used - most abilities require you to manually aim. You have to dodge/move out of enemy attacks. -You can only have 10 abilities equipped at a time. You have a pool of abilities to choose from that expands as you level, and you can change your loadout at at will when out of combat. -The art style is bright/colorful, over the top, and fun. -There is A LOT to do while playing. You are constantly bombarded with activities to partake in. Edited March 22, 2014 by Noviere

Guard Dog Posted March 22, 2014 Posted March 22, 2014 Now playing Horizon, a 4X space game from L30. It was billed as MOO2's successor. It looks like it might be but I'm having a hard time getting the hang of this one. I might actually have to look at, maybe even read some of the game manual. I don't recall having ever done that on any game before! "While it is true you learn with age, the down side is what you often learn is what a damn fool you were before" Thomas Sowell

Playing a dwarf street samurai with a shotty and melee focus. Funny thing is, even if you are a decker yourself, the game doesn't detect it correctly as of 1.2.5, so you are forced to bring a decker NPC regardless. This stopped my second playthrough dead on its tracks. - When he is best, he is a little worse than a man, and when he is worst, he is little better than a beast.

This stopped my second playthrough dead on its tracks. Strange, I played a decker and I didn't have an issue. Seems inconsistent. I've read about people not being able to choose contextual decking options during missions, even though I never experienced that myself. My problem was with runs that have a decker as a team composition requirement, in which case my PC wouldn't be recognized as such, despite having the best available deck and a higher decking rating than Blitz's. I suspect that this is derived from the fact that I chose rigger rather than decker at character creation, so my character wasn't properly flagged, or whatever. - When he is best, he is a little worse than a man, and when he is worst, he is little better than a beast.

LadyCrimson Posted March 23, 2014 Author Posted March 23, 2014 Finally feeling like I need a bit of a break from Banished ... which leaves me once again staring at the Steam pages without really knowing what I'm looking for. Which means in the end, I'll probably just go back to Banished. Or Dungeon Keeper. Or Caesar3. Although, I've kind of had an urge to install the first early version of Planet Explorers and dig another underground fortress... “Things are as they are.
